At this point, Xunuo and the others removed the Magic Shield and could barely endure the scorching environment.
With the threat of the Crimson Fire Ant eliminated, Qi Guoren commanded the entire team to move forward at full speed. Two days later, they finally arrived at their destination, Chaotic Valley. For outsiders, the most dangerous aspect of Chaotic Valley was its periphery. Once inside Chaotic Valley, one could seek protection from local forces. Although this protection came at a high price, it was the only way for outsiders to survive.
Speaking of the sanctuaries within Chaotic Valley, one must mention the three dominant forces that ruled over it. Before their departure, Qi Guoren had introduced these forces to Xunuo and the others. The largest force in Chaotic Valley was the Evil Cultivator group that had robbed Xunuo and his companions a few days prior. This faction was the strongest in terms of power and equipment. Most of these Cultivators were Loose Cultivators who had offended superpowers outside and were themselves formidable individuals. They acted ruthlessly, plundering Loose Cultivators seeking refuge or purchasing medicinal herbs on the outskirts of Chaotic Valley. Generally speaking, ten out of ten teams met their demise at the hands of this force.
Another faction in Chaotic Valley was the one that Xunuo and his group intended to ally with. This faction controlled inns and markets within Chaotic Valley.
The third force in Chaotic Valley controlled the harvesting and sale of spiritual herbs. Logically, this faction should be the weakest; however, it maintained close ties with Alchemists and Refiners, allowing it to establish a foothold and create a balance among the three powers.
Once inside Chaotic Valley, it was relatively safe. The other two factions would never allow the plundering Black Dragon Society to disrupt their business or encroach on their territory.
However, if Xunuo and his companions wished to leave Chaotic Valley, they would still have to face the Black Dragon Society's raids. But that was a matter for later; for now, they had a moment to catch their breath, which left Xunuo and his companions feeling quite emotional.
Chaotic Valley was not large, spanning only a few hundred miles. Though referred to as a Mountain Valley, it was essentially a basin within the Copper Sand Sea. At its center stood three towering snow-capped mountains, contrasting sharply with the surrounding scorching Copper Sand Sea. Inside Mountain Valley, vibrant spring-like vegetation grew in layers. If not for Chaotic Valley's notorious reputation, one might feel as if they had entered a fairyland.
As they traveled further into the valley, they gradually encountered other Cultivators. However, the gazes directed at Xunuo and his group were unusually cold and slightly mocking, as if they did not regard them as living beings and held little hope for their future. The Qi Country people dared not linger here; they hurriedly led their group to an inn to feel somewhat reassured.
Within Chaotic Valley, the Three Forces balanced each other out, making large-scale plundering or murder for treasure unlikely. However, ambushes on solitary Cultivators were as common as eating or drinking. Only under the protection of the Heavenly Dragon Society, which controlled inns and markets in this area, could one ensure safety. Thus, most transactions occurred directly within inns. Although prices for medicinal herbs here were significantly higher than outside, most Cultivators had no choice but to accept this reality rather than risk venturing outside.
Upon entering the inn, Qi Guoren secured a courtyard and paid a thirty-day deposit. He urged the inn's Manager—a Cultivator—to fetch the materials for Unity Pill quickly so they could finalize this transaction and alleviate one concern.
Here is a supply of Unity Pill herbs, priced at five spirit stones. There are no restrictions on quantity; as long as you have enough spirit stones, the herbs are available in abundance. If you lack spirit stones, you can also use refining materials or talismans to offset the cost.
Seeing the urgency of Qi Guoren's request, the innkeeper promptly brought out a large quantity of herbs and immediately began the transaction. In fact, Xunuo was looking for seedlings and seeds, so he paid close attention. Although the displayed herbs did not include seedlings or seeds, he surprisingly found several rare herbs among them. This way, even without the seedlings or seeds, he could still achieve his goal. Thus, Xunuo selected the rare herbs and made his purchases.
With the rare herbs in hand, Xunuo could cultivate and grow countless more herbs. Therefore, his requirements for quantity were not high. After a round of purchasing, Xunuo ended up acquiring the least amount among this group of cultivators.
Xunuo wrapped the roots of these rare herbs in wet mud. After casting a spell, he sealed them in a wooden box. This method of preservation would ensure that the herbs remained alive for over a year. Xunuo planned to transplant these herbs into his domain space after leaving this place; he had no intention of taking any risks here.
Once the transaction was complete, Qi Guoren announced that everyone could arrange their time as they wished until departure in thirty days. If anyone failed to return by then, they would bear the consequences themselves. As he said this, Qi Guoren particularly glanced at Black Wind Old Monster. In fact, most of the group had come primarily to purchase herbs, though it was not ruled out that they had other motives as well. However, only Black Wind Old Monster was solely there to repair magical artifacts. Staying in Chaotic Valley for thirty days was also one of Black Wind Old Monster's conditions.
Upon hearing this, Black Wind Old Monster snorted coldly and turned to leave. Qi Guoren watched him go with a cold gaze before inquiring about the other guests in the inn from the manager.
After asking around, he learned that there were already dozens of guests in the inn. However, these guests were survivors from several teams and were severely depleted in numbers. Many were injured and had suffered significant magical energy loss; they were no longer capable of forming a returning team.
Upon hearing this, Qi Guoren immediately formulated a plan. He bid farewell and went to contact the cultivators who had arrived earlier.
Although Qi Guoren's team had suffered heavy losses, they could still form a solid framework. With just a little reinforcement, they could set off immediately. Qi Guoren went out to select suitable personnel to assist his team.
Xunuo thought for a moment and asked the manager if there were any cultivators available for repairing magical artifacts. The manager smiled and replied, "If you are interested in repairing magical artifacts, I can introduce you to one of the top three refiners in this area. However, whether it works out or not, you must first pay an introduction fee of ten spirit stones."
Xunuo considered this and said, "That's fine, but I require your inn to provide round-trip escort."
The manager chuckled and said, "Of course! As long as you pay the spirit stones, I will immediately send someone to escort you."
Xunuo believed that if the Refiner on the other side was skilled enough, it was possible to repair his Armor Artifact within thirty days. Although he couldn't be certain, Xunuo decided to give it a try. This Armor Artifact was too important to him.
Moments later, Xunuo sat in a cart pulled by a snow-white beast resembling a camel, traveling through a wide alley.
Xunuo knew he was nearing the center of Chaotic Valley. Powerful Divine Senses swept over him without restraint, filled with ill intentions. As soon as he stepped out, he had gathered his Divine Sense, intending to act low-key to avoid drawing attention. However, it seemed that in this place, avoiding scrutiny meant hiding in an inn; otherwise, it was impossible. Xunuo simply released his Divine Sense, taking in the entire area.
What he saw here was vastly different from what he had imagined. Not only were there numerous Cultivators, but various buildings and markets were also abundant. It resembled a town from the mundane world, but the streets and structures were exceptionally spacious. The Cultivators here wore diverse clothing and had peculiar appearances, rarely donning traditional Daoist attire. Instead, Beast Leather was all the rage.
As soon as Xunuo released his Divine Sense, it drew reactions from the local Cultivators. Clearly, they were quite displeased with Xunuo's boldness as an outsider. Various threats were conveyed toward him. Xunuo understood that under the protection of the inn, these Evil Cultivators did not dare to act recklessly, so he ignored them entirely.
The Beast Cart swiftly traversed most of the town and arrived in front of a three-story tower-like building. The young-looking Cultivator driving the cart brought Xunuo to an emaciated old man known as in front of. With a humble demeanor, he introduced Xunuo to the elder.
This Refiner ranked third in Chaotic Valley and was named Dai Tianqi. He continued to gaze at a material on the table without looking up and said, "First, show me your magical artifact; let’s see if it's worth my effort to repair."
