Qi Guoren quickly inquired, "Dongfang, could you take a look at the storage bags we just obtained? Is there anything unusual?"
Dongfang Yunqing understood that Qi Guoren was a cautious person, and his question must have a reason behind it. He extended his Divine Sense into several storage bags, examining them one by one. "Spirit Stone Talismans and many other items, along with an Earth Attribute Shielding Array. Why do you ask about this?"
Qi Guoren replied seriously, "Do any of us have the capability to venture deep into the Desert Sea for over ten days?"
Dongfang Yunqing gasped in shock. "Of course not! How did those five manage to come here then? Could there be more than just these five?"
"There can only be these five; that much is certain. However, their method of traversing the Desert Sea must differ from ours. They likely relied on some formation or magical artifact. The storage bags I examined do not contain such means. Based on the battle earlier, after the Black Wind Old Monster killed the Bald Cultivator, if the other two wanted to escape, we would have had no power to stop them. Yet they did not flee; instead, they fought even harder. I suspect their means of entering the Desert Sea lies with the Bald Cultivator. Currently, that item is in the hands of the Black Wind Old Monster."
"Throughout this journey, it has been because we were separated from our group that we cannot enter or exit the Desert Sea freely; thus, the Black Wind Old Monster has been biding his time. Imagine if he acquires a way to enter and exit the Desert Sea alone—would he still regard us? Even if both of us left the group at the same time, just one of us stepping away would likely prompt him to strike suddenly and wipe out our entire team. The Black Wind Old Monster's capabilities are not inferior to those of those five Evil Cultivators."
Upon hearing this, Dongfang Yunqing immediately grasped the dire situation before them. He set aside thoughts of Xunuo and hurriedly took out spirit stones to restore his magical energy. As for Xunuo's safety, it paled in comparison to his own life.
Meanwhile, Xunuo found himself in a dilemma. With two pursuers closing in from behind and several groups of Demonic Insects' magical fluctuations appearing ahead, he realized there was nowhere left to escape. He had no choice but to steel himself for a desperate fight against his opponents. However, Xunuo still planned to employ a surprise attack; he recognized that facing them head-on offered him no chance of victory.
Xunuo quickly retrieved the Twelve Flag Array and tossed it onto the ground. Then he waved his Main Array Flag and instantly concealed himself within the formation.
The Tenth Layer Cultivator pursuing closely saw this clearly and shouted sharply as he summoned his Golden Giant Sword Artifact, cutting through the formation like a plow.
However, since Xunuo held the Main Array Flag in his hand, although the Golden Giant Sword Artifact pierced through the formation, Xunuo waved his Main Array Flag again, causing the formation's fluctuations to stabilize and restore it to its original state in an instant.
The Tenth Layer Cultivator remained unfazed. This strike was merely a test of the array's power and to pinpoint Xunuo's location. Upon realizing it was just an array that shielded against Divine Sense, he let out a strange laugh. He turned to the heavily injured Cultivator behind him and said, "Zhang Daoist is outside keeping watch; don't let him escape. I'll go in and slay this fellow."
Finished speaking, he activated his artifact to slice through the array, charging in with a sword in hand. As soon as the Tenth Layer Cultivator entered the array, he saw the Armored Monster standing on the ground. An Apex Artifact hovered before it, while it chanted incantations with both hands forming seals, seemingly summoning a powerful Spell.
This Cultivator would not give his opponent the chance to cast spells at leisure. With a single finger pointing at the Golden Flying Sword, he commanded, "Slash." The Golden Flying Sword flashed with light, its speed increasing dramatically as it sliced toward Xunuo.
In this Cultivator's view, with his superior mana, defeating his opponent should only take two strikes to deplete their power completely, leaving them unable to continue the fight. However, he saw Xunuo summon the Heavenly Shadow Spike before him. The Heavenly Shadow Spike glimmered with dark light, circumventing the oncoming Golden Flying Sword and piercing straight toward him.
Seeing that Xunuo had opted for a mutually destructive tactic, this Cultivator sneered. This was within his expectations; if the opponent possessed a Defensive Artifact, their tactics would be much more flexible.
However, this Cultivator prided himself on his Divine Sense being far superior to that of his opponent. He had plenty of countermeasures against such a mutually destructive strategy. Relying on Spells and Talismans to withstand an artifact was certainly a last resort and unlikely to yield significant results. But dodging with his speed was still within his grasp. If combined with Spells and Talismans, his chances of success would increase significantly. As long as he could exhaust his opponent's mana, taking their life would be as easy as pie.
This Cultivator quickly pulled out an Attack Talisman and hurled it toward the incoming Heavenly Shadow Spike. With his other hand forming seals and chanting incantations, he prepared to unleash a Spell.
Suddenly, he felt a chill run through him, and an alarm rang in his heart.
In an instant, four Heavenly Shadow Spikes appeared around him out of thin air. The Five Shadow Needles suddenly radiated Azure Radiance and instantly grew over three feet long, darting toward him from five directions like lightning. They nearly sealed off all of the Tenth Layer Cultivator's escape routes; it seemed that only beneath him could he Earth Escape.
Yet this Cultivator was seasoned in life-and-death situations. He recognized that while it seemed there was a way out below, the slow speed of Earth Escape would never allow him to evade the pursuit of the artifacts.
He quickly made an accurate judgment. A Spell struck down onto the Heavenly Shadow Spike aimed at him from above. Taking advantage of a moment when that Heavenly Shadow Spike veered slightly off course, he surged upward. However, opposing an artifact with a Spell was inherently difficult to achieve full effect. Although he avoided death with this strike, one of the Heavenly Shadow Spikes still pierced through his chest, leaving a fist-sized hole.
The Cultivator leaped out of the array and immediately began shoving pills into his mouth. Since he had not yet entered the Foundation Establishment Stage, he remained within the realm of mortals. His body was as fragile as that of any ordinary person. While spiritual pills could instantly heal severed limbs, injuries to vital organs meant death was near. Unless immediate aid was rendered, there was little hope for survival; however, significant damage to his cultivation would be unavoidable.
As the Cultivator escaped from the formation, the Golden Flying Sword he summoned struck Xunuo's Chestplate. This Chestplate was part of an entire Armor Artifact, making it the most vulnerable point. The sword hit with a sharp sound, causing the Golden Flying Sword to bounce off. Without the guidance of Divine Sense, the sword halted after its strike. However, cracks soon began to appear on the Chestplate, which was completely ruined by that blow.
Xunuo couldn't afford to feel sorrow for the Armor Artifact. Seizing the opportunity while the Flying Sword Artifact was momentarily stalled, he grabbed it with one hand and simultaneously affixed two sealing Talismans onto it. The owner of this artifact possessed far greater magical power and Divine Sense than Xunuo. As long as the opponent was not killed, Xunuo could not refine or use it. However, a temporary seal was still achievable.
Meanwhile, the Tenth Layer Cultivator had not fled far when he saw the Five Shadow Needles following closely behind. The Azure Radiance quickly caught up with him. The Five Shadow Needles surged forward simultaneously, tearing him into pieces in a chaotic flurry.
Another Cultivator had initially intended to rescue his companion but witnessed in an instant as his ally was slain. This Ninth Layer Cultivator did not escape; instead, he activated his own artifact and charged into the formation.
This Cultivator was exceptionally ruthless and harbored deep hatred for Xunuo's ambush. Seeing Xunuo summon five artifacts at once, he quickly deduced that this Armored Monster likely had no strength left to fight back. Moreover, having summoned five artifacts left him unprotected—this was his chance to take revenge.
Upon entering the formation, this Ninth Layer Cultivator noticed the Chestplate on Xunuo was riddled with cracks and appeared ready to shatter at a touch. With a sinister laugh, he shouted, "Cut!" A Fire Red Flying Sword radiated intense heat as it slashed toward Xunuo.
Xunuo did not expect this foe to charge into the formation despite seeing him summon five artifacts; instead of retreating, he pressed forward resolutely.
Instinctively, Xunuo performed a familiar motion with his hand. Magical energy surged like a tide into his Flying Sword. In an instant, the five-inch-long Golden Flying Sword in his hand transformed into a four-foot-long Golden Sword with a flash of golden light. Xunuo shouted loudly and flicked his wrist again. A brilliant golden sword light erupted like a storm, sweeping toward his opponent.
This time, Xunuo unleashed his most refined sword technique for the first time: One Flower, Ten Points, One Sword, Eight Flowers Sword Technique. He knew he could execute this technique; however, since acquiring it, he had largely distanced himself from the mundane martial world and had never had the opportunity to test its power.
