Xunuo did not see how the Nine-Level Cultivator was killed, but the way he cleaned up the battlefield and destroyed the evidence was so skillful that it made Dongfang Yunqing feel he was no different from those Evil Cultivators who specialized in murder and treasure hunting.
From this performance, it seemed that the young man had engaged in such killings more than once. He was not as harmless as he appeared on the surface. Fortunately, they shared a deep friendship; otherwise, Dongfang Yunqing would not have dared to let his guard down around him.
The two had been hiding in this mountain hollow for ten days. In the first few days, they saw many Cultivators whizzing by overhead. After a few days, however, no one passed by anymore. Seeing that the danger had passed, Xunuo put away the Formation Flag and, along with Dongfang Yunqing, headed towards the island where Ji Zenghui's Cave was located. This was also part of their plan: to meet Ji Zenghui first to gather information before making further plans.
Neither Xunuo nor Dongfang Yunqing knew how the battle between Black Wind Old Monster and Reaper Cui was going. Both of these monsters were not easy to deal with.
If Reaper Cui managed to kill Black Wind Old Monster, given his nature, he would not let Black Wind Old Monster's followers go. In that case, Dongfang Yunqing would have to abandon his own territory and seek refuge elsewhere. If Black Wind Old Monster killed Reaper Cui instead, he would only go after Luo Xuefeng’s misfortune. Xunuo and Dongfang Yunqing would be safe then and could return to their previous plans of cultivating in preparation for their journey to Chaotic Valley a year later.
When Xunuo and Dongfang Yunqing arrived at Ji Zenghui's island, Dongfang Yunqing sent a Sound Transmission Talisman inside but received no response after waiting for a while. After thinking for a moment, Xunuo set up a formation outside the lake to wait. They waited another five days before finally seeing Ji Zenghui and Luo Xuefeng flying over and diving into the small island in the lake.
Upon seeing them, Dongfang Yunqing hurriedly stood up to chase after them, but Xunuo grabbed his arm and said, "Wait a moment, my friend. Let's wait two more days before meeting."
Dongfang Yunqing thought for a moment and nodded to sit back down. After another two days without anyone pursuing them, they took down the formation and approached the island.
As soon as they arrived this time, the formation released mist that formed a passageway. Xunuo and Dongfang Yunqing entered the island where Ji Zenghui quickly invited them into a small building made of blue stone.
Inside the small building, the four of them sat down separately. Xunuo noticed that Ji Zenghui and Luo Xuefeng looked pale and exhausted. He guessed that they must have suffered significant energy loss to escape with their lives. Upon questioning, he learned that they had been chased by two Ten-Level experts for five days and were nearly out of Flying Talismans. Realizing they could not shake off their pursuers, they decided to fight back desperately to either kill or severely injure one of them to level the playing field; otherwise, they would neither be able to outrun nor defeat their opponents, leading to a deadlock.
As their pursuers closed in, both of them launched four Attack Talismans and two offensive Spells at one of the Cultivators ahead. This strike severely injured him and nearly cost him his life. However, the other Cultivator followed up with his own Talismans and Spells, which also heavily wounded Ji Zenghui and Luo Xuefeng. After landing their blow, they turned to flee. The injured Cultivator could no longer pursue them. The other one wanted to continue chasing but feared that his companion’s injuries were too severe; thus he had no choice but to abandon the pursuit.
Ji Zenghui and Luo Xuefeng had exhausted their Flying Talismans and found a secluded spot to heal and recover. Afterward, they cautiously made their way back on foot. However, during their journey, they received some good news: Reaper Cui was dead, and the Black Wind Old Monster was severely injured and missing.
Upon seeing Xunuo and Dongfang Yunqing looking energetic, Ji Zenghui asked in surprise, "You two seem to have easily escaped from your strong enemies without any harm."
Xunuo quickly replied, "I used the power of the formation to deceive those two. Otherwise, we wouldn't be able to meet today."
Ji Zenghui looked at Xunuo with skepticism before turning to Dongfang Yunqing. Dongfang Yunqing was unaware of how Xunuo had managed to defeat their opponents. Since Xunuo did not want to reveal his methods, he chose not to press the matter and simply nodded in silence.
After discussing for a while, Luo Xuefeng decided to rest here for some time before returning to his Cave to prepare for the Chaotic Valley expedition a year later. Dongfang Yunqing also decided to participate in the upcoming journey to the Chaotic Valley. They set a date to travel together and left with Xunuo.
When they arrived at Dongfang Yunqing's mountain residence, he initially intended to provide Xunuo with a building for cultivation. However, Xunuo planned to carve out his own Cave instead. Dongfang Yunqing had no objections and let him proceed. After exchanging greetings, he went into seclusion to break through his Bottleneck.
Xunuo first set up a wooden-element formation at the mountain peak, covering an area of about an acre. He summoned the Heavenly Shadow Spike to dig out a Cave below. Then he created horizontal passages at a ninety-degree angle leading to the vertical cliff face, allowing for a quick escape in case of emergencies.
This Cave that Xunuo created measured ten zhang in length and width, with a height of five zhang. It was spacious enough for him to cultivate alone. Satisfied with his work, Xunuo nodded and took out a Meditation Cushion to sit down. He reviewed his next steps before reaching into his pocket and pulling out a box.
This box contained the miniature formation obtained from Zuo Qiu Jian Ying. It was the biggest gain from this Dome Mountain Golden Family Trading Conference for Xunuo. He opened the two Formation plates and grabbed the hidden Boundary Stone. In an instant, both Xunuo and the Boundary Stone vanished from sight. Moments later, when Xunuo reappeared, he held over ten storage bags in his hands.
Some of these storage bags contained miscellaneous items that Xunuo had categorized. A few were spoils from when he had slain Goat Elder. In total, during the two battles at the Dome Mountain Trade Fair, Xunuo acquired ten storage bags—eight of which were obtained from defeating Goat Elder alone. However, being under the watchful eyes of Foundation Establishment Stage experts at Dome Mountain's Jin Family made him hesitant and cautious about sorting through these spoils at that time. Now that he was in a relatively safe place, it was natural for him to organize his gains.
Xunuo began by opening each storage bag one by one, categorizing their contents into different bags. He also identified the various pills inside but felt incredibly frustrated upon discovering that none contained Unity Pills. Instead, he found seven sets of materials for Unity Pills and three sets of materials for Minor Rejuvenation Pills, which also enhanced cultivation.
After contemplating for a moment, Xunuo thought this wasn't such a bad outcome after all. With these materials, he felt confident about refining three or five pills himself. With these pills in hand, advancing through Basic Skill Method's Eleven Layers seemed very promising indeed.
Xunuo was satisfied as he categorized the remaining items. The refining materials and demon beast materials, although temporarily unnecessary, were not intended for sale. Firstly, Xunuo did not lack spirit stones at the moment. Secondly, he believed that his cultivation path would never be limited to the Foundation Stage. In fact, even the Foundation Establishment Stage was not his goal. Therefore, just because something was not needed now did not mean it would never be useful in the future. Even if it turned out to be useless later on, Xunuo preferred to use these items to exchange for something beneficial rather than simply disposing of them.

The momentary influx of mana surpassed the effects of over a month of meditation for Xunuo. Even the stubborn ailments within him and the depletion of True Essence had nearly recovered. Xunuo realized that he had found a way to instantly replenish his mana and carefully stored this spirit stone away.
