The young man’s expression changed dramatically as he took the item and examined it closely. After a moment, he looked up at Xunuo in shock and said, “This is a defensive Artifact Fragment; it doesn’t have the ability to teleport. It’s quite rare.” He then proceeded to analyze the nine materials that made up this Artifact Fragment.
After he finished his analysis, Xunuo casually asked, “Dao Brother, do you have confidence in repairing this artifact?”
The young man stared intently at Xunuo, seemingly lost in thought. After a moment, he replied, “I am Wu Jiadi. May I ask how you are addressed?”
Xunuo coldly chuckled and said, “I am surnamed Lu; it’s inconvenient for me to say more.”
Wu Jiadi smiled awkwardly and said, “No worries. Lu Daoyou, this Artifact Fragment is too small for me to analyze and replicate the runes from it. If you could bring out the complete artifact for me to study, I would have a fair chance of replicating its runes. With those runes, it might be possible to repair the artifact.”
Xunuo smiled faintly and replied, “This artifact belongs to my elder brother. He is currently in seclusion trying to break through his Bottleneck and has entrusted me to find someone to repair this artifact. All I have from him is this Artifact Fragment. My brother has promised a Unity Pill as payment for the repair. If you are interested, I can certainly take you to meet him. However, my brother's temperament is not as easygoing as mine. If you lack confidence, it would be unwise to seek trouble.”
Wu Jiadi’s eyes widened in urgency as he exclaimed, “As long as there are rune references, I have over fifty percent confidence in repairing this artifact. Please take me to Xue Daoyou.”
Xunuo replied, “There’s no rush; my brother will be in seclusion for six months. If you are confident, I can personally bring my brother to Crimson Flame Mountain to meet you after six months. How does that sound?”
Wu Jiadi hesitated and said, “But this fragment is too incomplete; it truly makes it difficult for me to deduce the artifact's runes. Isn’t that putting me in a tough spot?”
Xunuo reached out for the Artifact Fragment back, and Wu Jiadi reluctantly handed it over. Xunuo stood up and said, “Just come to Crimson Flame Mountain after six months; my brother will make arrangements.”
Wu Jiadi hurriedly replied, “Absolutely, absolutely.”
After leaving the secret chamber, Xunuo continued on to the Refining Materials Market to procure materials needed for repairing the Chestplate.
A moment later, Xunuo returned to his residence. The Small Building was empty; Dongfang Yunqing and the others were still busy at the Trade Fair.
Xunuo went straight to his room. He took out the set of formation for the deposit that Zuo Qiu Jian Ying had given him. Arranging the positions within the room, he set up the Twelve Flag Array. Then, with a wave of his hand holding the Main Array Flag, the entire room was enveloped by the formation.
Xunuo sensed it slightly and nodded in satisfaction. He flipped his hand to take out the Tracking Disk and infused it with the magical imprint of Wu Jiadi that he had secretly collected. In the next moment, the Tracking Disk displayed Wu Jiadi's location. Xunuo quietly observed for a couple of hours. Seeing that Wu Jiadi remained at the material market without any movement, he finally relaxed and put away the Tracking Disk.
Xunuo felt quite uneasy about Wu Jiadi. Although his cultivation was only slightly higher than Xunuo's, having reached the eighth layer of this Cultivation Method, his behavior in the secret chamber seemed somewhat unusual. However, since Xunuo had already revealed the Artifact Fragment, he could only brace himself and proceed with this transaction. He needed to be extremely cautious around this person and must not let him uncover his identity, leaving behind any traces that could lead to trouble.
Xunuo had decided to stay indoors for the next few days. Once Dongfang Yunqing's matters were settled, they would leave this place together.
The next day, Dongfang Yunqing invited Xunuo to stroll around the Talisman trading market. For the past two days, Dongfang Yunqing had been selling some materials and finally had some free time today.
Xunuo waved the jade slip in his hand and said, "I need to study these jade slips carefully today; you can go on your own, Dongfang."
Dongfang Yunqing smiled and left.
Back in his room, Xunuo took out the Tracking Disk again to observe Wu Jiadi for a while. Seeing no unusual movements, he immersed himself in studying the jade slips closely.
By evening, Dongfang Yunqing excitedly arrived at Xunuo's room. Noticing that Xunuo still had the formation set up and hadn’t put it away, he chuckled first: "Xue Dao You is quite cautious."
Xunuo waved his hand with a smile: "I'm just setting it up to comprehend the array's usage; there's no other intention. It seems like Dongfang has made quite a harvest today."
Dongfang Yunqing replied joyfully: "At this Trade Fair, due to high prices for pills and herbs, Talisman prices have actually dropped quite a bit. Although I haven't confirmed whether to attend next year's Chaotic Valley meeting, it's still necessary to prepare in advance. So with Talisman prices dropping this time, I purchased a batch. I can say it was quite a profitable venture."
He finished speaking with a smug smile.
Xunuo chuckled and began discussing with Dongfang Yunqing when they should set off. Naturally, Dongfang Yunqing wanted to leave as soon as possible, which is why he had been busy shopping early. Neither of them was interested in the upcoming auction. Besides the Talisman, Dongfang Yunqing also intended to acquire a set of formation arrays. Thus, they decided to stay one more day in Pan Heng before quietly departing.
While Xunuo and Dongfang Yunqing were talking, a sudden scream echoed from downstairs, followed by a cacophony of noises. They hurried down to the living room and found Ji Zenghui covered in blood. His left arm was nearly severed, hanging by only a bit of flesh, and he stood there pale-faced.
Xunuo quickly took out Revival Powder and had him take it, then applied Reattachment Ointment to the wound. After a moment, Ji Zenghui's complexion improved as he sat down to recover his mana.
Luo Xuefeng turned to look at the others in the room and suddenly asked, "Where is Tang Xianyong?"
The group exchanged glances, and Dongfang Yunqing replied, "Tang Daoist went out with Ji Daoist today. Could it be that they got into a dispute?"
Luo Xuefeng shook his head. "Impossible. The Dome Mountain Trade Fair strictly prohibits fighting. Even the Cultivators from Eleven Layers wouldn't dare break the rules here, let alone us."
With no other choice, they sat quietly on the side, waiting for Ji Zenghui to recover his mana before asking for clarification.
The Black Wind Old Monster watched for a moment before suddenly sneering and turning back into the room.
It took nearly an entire meal's time before Ji Zenghui finally managed to regain some consciousness. Exhausted, he clasped his hands in gratitude towards Xunuo and the others. Weakly, he said, "Tang Xianyong has perished. I barely made it back thanks to him sacrificing himself to block a Spell attack."
Dongfang Yunqing exclaimed in shock, "Who would be so bold as to kill someone at the Dome Mountain Trade Fair? Didn't the Jin Family intervene?"
Ji Zenghui shook his head and began to recount the events in fragmented sentences.
The two of them turned out to be even more cautious than Xunuo. After making some purchases at the Trade Fair today, they left the Jin Family together on their way back. Unexpectedly, just outside the Jin Family's territory, they encountered two experts at the tenth level. These two didn't waste any words; upon seeing them, they immediately attacked. Fortunately, Ji Zenghui had bought a few intermediate defense and Flying Talismans at the Talisman market that morning. With Tang Xianyong risking his life to block the attack, they managed to escape.
As Ji Zenghui fled, the two behind him shouted his name furiously. Ji Zenghui quickly guessed that these two were not just random Evil Cultivators robbing people on the road; they were specifically targeting him and his companion. Ji Zenghui was now desperately returning to deliver news to Dongfang Yunqing and the others.
Hearing this, Dongfang Yunqing hurriedly asked, "Are you saying that those two are not simply after you both?"
Ji Zenghui nodded. Luo Xuefeng's face turned cold as he said, "Could it be related to the Shadowless Crane of Death?"
Ji Zenghui replied, "It's likely they are hired help. On their way here, they secretly ambushed the Black Wind Daoist and have already collected our magical imprints. Letting us in was their plan to ambush us on our way back."
Xunuo also thought this possibility was quite high but knew they couldn't discuss it here. Although the Black Wind Old Monster was inside the room, this information would be impossible for him to miss with his Divine Sense. So Xunuo clasped his hands and invited everyone into his room to discuss.
Dongfang Yunqing agreed, saying, "Exactly, Xue Dao You's room is quiet."
He quickly signaled to Luo and Ji. Although they didn't understand why, they followed Xunuo into his room.
Once inside, they realized that Xunuo had set up a powerful array in his room to shield against Divine Sense. With this in place, they could safely discuss how to resolve their current predicament.
Meanwhile, the Black Wind Old Monster in the other room was cursing Xunuo fiercely. Although he couldn't eavesdrop on what Xunuo and the others were discussing, he believed that after this incident, these individuals would definitely not dare to leave alone again.
