The two members of the Su Family stood there, dumbfounded and at a loss, only able to rise and respectfully see off Xunuo from a distance. Behind Xunuo, the water surface rippled as if stirred by the wind created from their swift passage.
Once outside the Su Family residence, Xunuo did not slow down for a moment. They effortlessly scaled the wall and soared over the rooftop. Without even passing through the city gate, Xunuo flew right over the city walls.
Upon leaving the city, Xunuo revealed a pair of Intermediate Flight Talismans in each hand, along with an Intermediate Defense Talisman, slapping them onto their body simultaneously. In the next instant, yellow light and golden radiance flickered around Xunuo before they vanished from sight with a whoosh.
At the same time, where Xunuo had just disappeared, two Black-Clad Youths emerged. One appeared slightly younger than Xunuo, while the other looked considerably more mature, nearing adulthood. As soon as they appeared, both let out cold laughs and activated their own Flying Talismans. In an instant, they too vanished in a flash of azure radiance.
It turned out that when Xunuo had taken a closer look at the Heavenly Shadow Spike earlier, an almost imperceptible Mind Power suddenly wrapped around them.
Xunuo glanced up but saw nothing. Quickly extending their Divine Sense, they discovered two Black-Clad Youths standing on a lotus leaf far across the pond. Both were Cultivators.
These two had relatively low cultivation levels; the older one was at the eighth level of Basic Skill Method, while the younger one was comparable to Xunuo. This kind of illusion was something Xunuo could also perform, but under Divine Sense, it was impossible to hide. Xunuo's habit of not constantly releasing their Divine Sense had cost them dearly; by the time they noticed the opponents, they were already nearly within arm's reach, startling Xunuo.
However, what truly terrified Xunuo was that both youths had a blood-red Crabapple embroidered on their collars. This reminded Xunuo of when they had slain Tuoba Buer and encountered those Cultivators with similar embroidery. In an instant, Xunuo understood that enemies had tracked them down. Seeing the slightly malicious expressions on their faces, Xunuo chose to flee without hesitation.
Having survived countless near-death experiences in the Great Mountains, Xunuo knew that their strength lay in their Divine Sense. Just like this eighth-level Basic Skill Method youth before them; logically speaking, being one realm lower should have made it impossible for Xunuo to gauge their cultivation level. Yet when Xunuo extended their Divine Sense, they clearly sensed the opponent's power. This indicated that their Divine Sense was at least comparable to theirs; however, in terms of magical power, Xunuo had no advantage over cultivators of the same level and might even be slightly inferior. Now facing two opponents with greater magical power than themselves, fleeing was the only way to survive.
The two Talismans activated within Xunuo were undoubtedly their strongest means of survival at this critical moment. Naturally, they would not hold back any longer.
But after running for a while, Xunuo's heart sank. The two pursuers not only failed to fall behind but were actually closing in closer and closer.
Xunuo held a spirit stone in his left hand, quickly replenishing his True Qi. In his right hand, he gripped the Heavenly Shadow Spike tightly, and with a sudden force, he broke open his palm, allowing his blood to be directly absorbed by the Heavenly Shadow Spike.

The Elderly Youth sneered and replied, "He's wasting his effort; even if we kill him, that artifact will still belong to us."
Hearing their words, Xunuo vaguely understood that this method of using his blood on the artifact was called Blood Sacrifice.
In fact, there are two types of artifact refinement: one uses Divine Sense for refinement, known as Divine Offering, while the other uses Essence Blood for refinement, called Blood Sacrifice. The results of these two methods are the same; both allow for complete control over the artifact. However, if an artifact refined through Divine Offering is taken by someone whose Realm is higher than yours or whose Divine Sense surpasses yours, they can erase your Divine Consciousness Mark. The artifact then becomes ownerless, and you can no longer control it.
On the other hand, Blood Sacrifice artifacts are different. Unless someone is at least one major Realm higher than you, they cannot forcibly erase your Essence Blood imprint. This major Realm difference is not just a small distinction like from Basic Skill Method to Eleven Layers; it refers to significant stages like Foundation Establishment Stage versus Rotation Period. If a two or three-layer Foundation Stage Cultivator possesses a Blood Sacrifice artifact and hands it over to a Basic Skill Method Cultivator at Eleven Layers, the latter would find it useless. They would be unable to forcibly erase the Essence Blood imprint and thus could not control it at all.
However, there is a way to avoid forcibly erasing the Essence Blood imprint on an artifact: simply kill its owner, causing the artifact to automatically become ownerless. This allows for re-refinement of the artifact.
The Elderly Youth clearly regarded Xunuo as dead. That artifact had long been registered under his name; he didn't care whether Xunuo was using Divine Offering or Blood Sacrifice. The two young men had exposed their whereabouts out of excitement upon seeing the artifact.
These two had tracked Xunuo's magical fluctuations from Nanyue Sect and followed him relentlessly. Unexpectedly, Xunuo had lost his way while rushing day and night, running hither and thither. As a result, they had to constantly activate their tracking artifact, which was exhausting and forced them to frequently stop to recover their magical energy. Eventually, when Xunuo approached Tianyin Mountain, he drove without using any magical energy. At this point, the two pursuers found themselves at a complete loss.
This artifact tracked magical fluctuations for following purposes; without those fluctuations, it was impossible to trace Xunuo's whereabouts. However, given the importance of the situation, they dared not abandon their pursuit and could only search while relying on the faint traces of magical energy that Xunuo occasionally emitted.
Today in Zhaosheng City, they blocked Xunuo after hearing about Lu Zaisheng from Wuhua Sword Sect and came hoping for luck.
At a distance, as long as Xunuo did not use any magical energy, it was very difficult for the artifact to track him down. But now that they were so close, the artifact began to vibrate violently, locking onto Xunuo's presence tightly and allowing these two youths to corner him at Su Family.
However, neither of them intended to act against the Su Family. After all, there were still many taboos between the realms of immortals and mortals. It wasn't until the Su Family revealed the Heavenly Shadow Spike that they couldn't help but probe with their Divine Sense, exposing their presence.
Driving Xunuo away and ambushing him aligned with both of their intentions. Thus, this scene unfolded.

While Xunuo was still pondering, a sudden Azure Radiance lit up behind him. He hurriedly summoned his Protective Shield and simultaneously sidestepped to evade.
Little did he expect that the opponent's artifact was even sharper. In an instant, it struck outside of Xunuo, breaking through the Intermediate Defense Talisman’s Yellow Light almost immediately. The Yellow Light shattered, and the attack landed on the inner layer of his Protective Shield. Xunuo's Protective Shield barely offered any resistance before it was broken apart. In the next moment, a sharp pain shot through Xunuo's back as he was sent tumbling away. The intermediate talisman had been cleaved in two by the opponent's sword. Fortunately, the talisman had provided some minimal defense; otherwise, he would have been split in half.
Gritting his teeth against the excruciating pain, Xunuo fled without hesitation. During his escape, he flicked his sleeve, sending four points of black light into the ground. In an instant, he raised his right hand, unleashing the Heavenly Shadow Spike that glowed with Purple Light.
Seeing this, the Younger Boy behind him flicked his wrist and released a spherical artifact. With a pop, it transformed into a strange armor that enveloped him completely. The Elderly Youth then let out a cold laugh as a Blue Flying Sword spiraled out.
Xunuo flicked his hand to shoot the Heavenly Shadow Spike backward while the Elder Youth pointed at the Blue Flying Sword and commanded, "Swift." The Blue Flying Sword flew toward the Heavenly Shadow Spike.
At that moment, an unexpected change occurred. From beneath the Elder Youth, four beams of Purple Light suddenly shot out and instantly pierced through his body. One of these beams expanded to over two feet in length and wrist-thick as it burst through his head. Before he could react, he fell lifelessly to the ground. The Blue Flying Sword he had summoned fell silently beside him.
The remaining young boy was initially startled and stumbled back in shock. Then he let out a strange cry and lunged for the fallen Flying Sword.
With its owner dead, the Flying Sword Artifact immediately became unclaimed property. Instead of retreating from a formidable enemy first, the young boy rushed to seize it for himself.
