Then he activated an Intermediate Flight Talisman, a flash of light surrounding him as a red Blue Shield appeared. He soared into the air, racing toward the passage entrance. Seeing this, Chang Iron Tower also activated a Flying Talisman and followed closely behind.
The Intermediate Flight Talisman was as fast as lightning. Xunuo's Protective Shield rippled under the force of the slicing wind.
In an instant, Xunuo reached the Passage Entrance. He raised his Ice Spike Talisman and muttered under his breath: "This is tough."
Then he turned and flew in the opposite direction.
Immediately after, Chang Iron Tower saw a green shadow darting after Xunuo's protective red glow. He crushed a jade slip to send a message and sped off in another direction.
Chang Iron Tower noticed that Xunuo had drawn out a beast and decided to flee separately. He knew that the beast was much faster than Xunuo and would likely tear him apart in an instant. By splitting up, he hoped to divert the beast's attention away from his companion, giving him a chance at survival.
However, he did not reach the passage entrance to see the truth. Otherwise, Chang Iron Tower would not have crushed the jade slip to lead his companion into danger.
At the passage entrance, Xunuo found himself facing three beasts: one Rift Boar and two Azure Wood Foxes. Realizing this, Xunuo didn't even have time to unleash his Ice Spike Talisman before fleeing in haste.
However, the Azure Wood Fox was incredibly fast, closing the distance in the blink of an eye. Xunuo's mind raced as he realized he couldn't let this beast catch up. Spotting a hillside ahead, he activated the Ice Spike Talisman in his hand. Then, he turned and, with a flicker of Divine Sense, appeared in the Boundary Stone's Starlight Arena.
Seeing that it was getting closer, the Azure Wood Fox prepared to unleash its demonic powers to kill Xunuo ahead. Suddenly, it was struck head-on by the Ice Spike Talisman. After being hit, it snapped back to reality, only to find that Xunuo had vanished without a trace.
This Azure Wood Fox had high intelligence. It immediately chased behind the hill and swept its Divine Sense across the area, but the human had seemingly evaporated. Confused but unwilling to let its prey escape, it unleashed its innate ability, Yimu Qinglei, bombarding the hillside. Trees toppled and rocks crumbled as a layer of the slope was obliterated.
After a furious rampage, the Azure Wood Fox still couldn't locate Xunuo. With a fierce howl, it turned and pursued the direction of Chang Iron Tower.
Xunuo stood in the Starlight Arena, unaware of what was happening outside. His brows knitted tightly; he needed to make a decisive choice.
Currently, three Fourth-Level Beasts guarded the passage. If this continued, Xunuo feared he might end his days trapped here. One beast had been lured away this time; if Qi Guoren and the others came over, there were only two possible outcomes: either they would force their way through or escape and lure another beast away.
Xunuo gritted his teeth; he had no choice but to take a gamble. He was unwilling to be trapped here for life. He summoned two Heavenly Shadow Spikes, an Intermediate Defense Talisman, and two spirit stones from his storage bag. Slapping the Intermediate Defense Talisman onto himself, a heavy, earthy glow enveloped him in addition to his red Protective Shield. Grasping both Heavenly Shadow Spikes in one hand and holding the spirit stones in the other, he stepped out of the Starlight Arena.
As he probed with his Divine Sense, his expression changed drastically when he sensed danger approaching from the direction of the passage entrance—indeed, the Azure Wood Fox had swiftly killed Chang Iron Tower and was now racing back.
Seeing that the Azure Wood Fox was returning, Xunuo realized that Chang Iron Tower had not managed to intercept it even for a moment.
The instant Xunuo appeared, he was locked onto by the Azure Wood Fox's Divine Sense. The fox immediately changed direction and flew toward him. Xunuo silently lamented as he fled while mentally preparing to unleash his Heavenly Shadow Spikes at any moment.
While Xunuo was desperately escaping, Qi Guoren and his companions were already suffering heavy casualties.
Chang Iron Tower crushed a jade slip. Receiving the signal from Qi Guoren, they activated their Flying Talismans and arrived at the Passage Entrance in an instant. Liu Qishan and others quickly formed a strange formation to confront the Rift Boar. Qi Guoren led the remaining few to take shelter in the center of this formation while unleashing their artifacts, talismans, and spells against the Azure Wood Fox.
The Rift Boar stood firmly at the Passage Entrance, its mouth wide open as beams of Yellow Light shot out, striking Liu Qishan and his three companions. Under the influence of the formation, their mana flowed together seamlessly, forming a shimmering Blue Shield. However, the Yellow Light from the Rift Boar battered against the Blue Shield, causing it to tremble violently. The Talisman and Spell cast by Liu Qishan's group struck the Rift Boar, only causing a brief flicker of Yellow Light on its body, leaving it largely unharmed. Meanwhile, the Blue Shield created by Liu Qishan's formation began to dim under the relentless assault of the Rift Boar, teetering on the brink of collapse.
The four of them paled, occasionally pulling out spirit stones to replenish their mana. Yet it was clear that their most pressing issue was not a lack of mana but rather an insufficient Realm.
The formation they had formed was known as the Four Symbols Formation, primarily used for defense and somewhat renowned in the Cultivation world. If all four were masters of Basic Skill Method at Eleven Layers, this formation could withstand even a Fourth-Level Beast. However, currently, only two members were proficient in Basic Skill Method at Eleven Layers; the other two had only reached the tenth layer. This disparity significantly weakened the Four Symbols Formation.

What worried him most was that this temporary boost in mana was akin to drinking poison to quench thirst. The Purple Barrier could not hold for long; if they could not repel these two beasts and escape through the passage soon, they would face certain death.
A fierce determination rose within Qi Guoren. He gripped two spirit stones tightly and unleashed his mana fiercely. The Hook-shaped Artifact glimmered with Yellow Light and instantly expanded to over four feet in length. With a slight movement, it seemed to slice through space itself and appeared directly above the Azure Wood Fox before crashing down.
The Azure Wood Fox had been circling outside the Four Symbols Formation, avoiding confrontation while assessing whether these humans had any allies nearby for a potential ambush. Now seeing the power of their artifact increase dramatically, it no longer dared to be careless. It opened its mouth and unleashed three Yimu Qinglei Thunder Balls just in time to block the Hook-shaped Artifact.
This encounter ignited the Azure Wood Fox's ferocity. With a flick of its tail, it vanished from its original position and reappeared on the opposite side of the Four Symbols Formation, launching another Thunder Ball at the Purple Barrier. Then it swiftly moved again to another location and fired yet another Thunder Ball. The Azure Wood Fox's erratic movements made it impossible for Qi Guoren to devise a countermeasure.
Among these Cultivators, Qi Guoren possessed the strongest Divine Sense mana. However, compared to a Fourth-Level Beast akin to a Foundation Establishment Stage Cultivator, he felt inadequate. If only the Azure Wood Fox had not unleashed its full agility and magical prowess, Qi Guoren might have been able to lock onto it and attack with his artifact.
