Xunuo saw several elders with faces full of anger. Without waiting for them to ask, he began to speak: "Respected Sect Leader, a few nights ago while I was practicing swordsmanship in Herb Valley, I encountered a celestial-like Taoist. He said he wanted to exchange this bottle of elixir for some medicinal herbs. Seeing how miraculous this medicine was, I agreed to the exchange. Please take a look, Sect Leader."
With that, he took out a bottle of Reattachment Ointment from his pocket and placed it on the table in front of Ximen Tower.
The elders were skeptical, unable to believe such nonsensical claims. They stared wide-eyed at Xunuo.
Ximen Tower suppressed his rising anger and asked, "What is so miraculous about this medicine?"
Feigning mystery, Xunuo replied, "If I tell you, Sect Leader might find it hard to believe. Let me conduct an experiment that will surely leave you astonished and convinced that my exchange was quite advantageous."
He then called over a disciple to fetch a wild rabbit. Moments later, the disciple returned with a rabbit in hand.
Ximen Tower, Azure Wind, Gu Tianxiao, and the others struggled to contain their frustration. They had never been toyed with by a junior like this before and were just waiting for Xunuo to fail so they could all shout at him.
Unfazed, Xunuo instructed the disciple to hold the rabbit firmly. He drew out the Azure Wind Sword from behind him and swiftly severed one of the rabbit's legs with a flash of sword light.
Next, he took a bit of ointment from the Porcelain Bottle and applied it to the rabbit's severed limb before pressing the limb back against the wound. Miraculously, the injury began to heal at an observable speed.
Ximen Tower was close enough to see clearly. Those further away rushed over, eyes wide in disbelief. In an instant, five heads huddled together in curiosity.
Within a short while, the rabbit was hopping around the hall as if nothing had happened. Ximen Tower grabbed the bottle of Reattachment Ointment and examined it closely with several Hall Masters, sniffing and analyzing it for quite some time before remembering to ask Xunuo.
Ximen Tower inquired, "What is this medicine called?"
Xunuo replied, "According to that Taoist, this medicine is called Reattachment Ointment; it is the finest healing elixir in the world."
"Ximen Tower" asked again, "What is the name of that Daoist?"
"Xunuo" replied, "It exists."
Then, based on "Dongfang Yunqing's" appearance, he described this fictional Daoist.
After listening, "Ximen Tower" pondered for a moment and sighed, "This Eastern Daoist must be the legendary immortal. It's a pity we haven't formed a deeper bond. If only we had such a celestial being to assist us... sigh!"
Once again, "Ximen Tower" let out a long sigh and seemed somewhat lost in thought. "Xunuo," along with "Xue Bingchuan," "Liao Jiabao," and others, looked at "Ximen Tower," who was alternating between joy and sorrow, feeling quite perplexed.
However, the several Hall Masters understood why "Ximen Tower" felt this way and fell silent.
After a moment, "Ximen Tower" said to "Xue Bingchuan" and the others, "You may leave for now; I have something to discuss with 'Lu Zaisheng.'"
Once all the disciples in the hall had exited, "Ximen Tower" and the Hall Masters took their seats. After contemplating for a moment, he said, "'Liu Shizhi' has obtained this medicine, which is indeed a rare treasure and can be considered a significant contribution to our 'Wuhua Sect.' I will reward you heavily for it. However, there is still a task that will fall upon your shoulders."
Then "Ximen Tower" explained to "Xunuo" about the extermination of ferocious beasts surrounding the Ten Thousand Mountains.
Upon hearing this, "Xunuo's" expression changed as well, but he understood that 'Wuhua Sect' had no choice in this matter. After all, given the current display of strength, 'Liu Yunfei' was far superior to 'Xunuo.' For 'Wuhua Sect,' 'Liu Yunfei's' value was greater than that of 'Xunuo.' Comparatively speaking, 'Wuhua Sect' was even less willing to let 'Liu Yunfei' participate in such beast extermination activities.
Even though 'Xunuo' was currently at a critical stage of cultivation and needed to prepare for the Dome Mountain Golden Family Trading Conference, with changes arising now, he could only adapt to the shifting circumstances.
Having thought through these connections, 'Xunuo' instead encouraged 'Ximen Tower' not to worry about him. Seeing his disciple so capable made 'Tian Feiyu' secretly sigh in admiration. 'Ximen Tower' then shared with 'Xunuo' the specific distribution of strength for this beast extermination mission.
'Tian Feiyu' then took his leave first and brought 'Xunuo' back to the Seven Star Sword Hall. Upon arriving at the Seven Star Sword Hall, 'Tian Feiyu' also summoned 'Zigong Changhe.' He said to 'Xunuo,' "This beast extermination activity is more dangerous than in previous years and may take longer. I'm not worried about just exterminating beasts; however, since 'Nanyue Sect' has called your name along with 'Liu Yunfei's,' I'm afraid they might secretly harm you. I've already arranged with your Third Senior Brother that he will accompany you this time. Unfortunately, our Seven Star Sword Hall cannot spare any more personnel. Otherwise, sending out three or five people would alleviate concerns about 'Nanyue Sect's' schemes."
Xunuo thanked Tian Feiyu and nodded in agreement. "In a little over ten days, we will set off. You should prepare as well; come back to stay for the next few days," Tian Feiyu added.
Xunuo returned to Herb Valley to pack her belongings. After some consideration, she realized that this beast extermination mission, as implied by Tian Feiyu, would take three to five months to complete. With that in mind, she decided to bring along some precious items. To Xunuo, the most valuable possession was the Heavenly Shadow Spike.
Although she lacked the technique to fully utilize the Heavenly Shadow Spike, its sharp spikes and resistance to True Qi infusion made her increasingly aware of its extraordinary nature. Furthermore, the reputation of the Heavenly Shadow Spike as the world's deadliest weapon filled her with high hopes.
Next on her list were the Revival Powder and Reattachment Ointment that she had crafted. The pile of silver coins in the corner went unnoticed this time.
After securing the Heavenly Shadow Spike and her vials, Xunuo stepped outside and spotted Jing Lide standing by the Thatched Cottage. Jing Lide was already aware of the century-old herbs situation and had managed it well. He admired Xunuo greatly and hurried over upon hearing she had returned.
Seeing Jing Lide approach, Xunuo smiled and said, "I was just about to look for you. I'm going to participate in the beast extermination mission and won't be around for a while. However, I left some things in my room; please take good care of them and don't let anything go missing."
Jing Lide bowed respectfully and replied, "Master Lu, rest assured. No one would dare enter your room; not even a single nail will go missing."
Satisfied with his assurance, Xunuo strode up the mountain.
After staying at Seven Star Sword Hall for three to five days, the list of participants for the beast extermination mission gradually circulated among various halls. Wuhua Mountain became lively all at once.
Though dangerous, most martial arts disciples did not take the beast extermination mission too seriously. They were accustomed to life and death in the martial world and viewed this mission as merely another training opportunity. Those on the list were mostly cheerful, while those left out expressed their discontent.
Most participants had been members of the Inner Sect for three to five years. Aside from Xunuo, no one else had joined during her initial entry into the Inner Sect. Even among those who had been in the Inner Sect for two years, only five were selected for this training mission. Wuhua Sect was cautious about sending out inexperienced disciples; they could not afford significant casualties.
The number of disciples dispatched from each hall showed that the Divine Mechanism Hall sent the most personnel, accounting for nearly half of the total two hundred. The Outer Hall and Divine Blade Hall followed closely behind, while the Seven Star Sword Hall, along with Xunuo and Zigong Changhe, only sent ten people, making it the least represented in this beast extermination operation.
Before long, the day of departure arrived. Disciples from the Wuhua Sect gathered at the Grand Arena. Ximen Tower and various Hall Masters took their seats in several rows on the Arena, including some rarely seen elders from secluded cultivation who also appeared.
Ximen Tower addressed everyone in the Arena, explaining the stakes and importance of this beast extermination operation. Outer Hall Master Gao Weiji then began to divide the participating disciples into groups.
For this operation, the Wuhua Sect divided these personnel into twenty teams. Among the ten from the Seven Star Sword Hall, only Xunuo and Zigong Changhe were not separated. The remaining eight disciples were distributed across eight different teams.
While the disciples of the Seven Star Sword Hall might not be as effective in hunting beasts as those from the Divine Mechanism Hall or Outer Hall, they excelled in protecting their teammates. After all, when it came to martial arts cultivation, disciples from other halls still found it difficult to compare with those from the Seven Star Sword Hall.
Other halls, especially the Divine Mechanism Hall, had a more diverse range of martial arts teachings, allowing for greater flexibility in personnel selection for such activities. This was evident from how the disciples from each hall arranged themselves.
The disciples of the Seven Star Sword Hall carried only a single sword and nothing else.
Disciples from the Divine Blade Hall either slung, carried, or held a heavy knife. These knives were thick-bladed and powerful; lighter tools like simple knives or goose-wing knives were not included.
In contrast, disciples from both the Divine Mechanism Hall and Outer Hall wielded an assortment of weapons—swords, spears, axes, forks, bows, crossbows, and hidden weapons were all present.
Once personnel distribution was complete, Xunuo observed that each group had a balanced mix of light and heavy weapons and coordinated ranged and close combat capabilities. It became clear that significant effort had gone into organizing these teams for the beast extermination mission.
