Azure Wind was standing in the audience, and when Xunuo arrived, he waved for Xunuo to come over. "Does Liu Shizhi's setup look grand enough?" he asked.
Xunuo blushed slightly and replied, "Master Lan has certainly made quite a spectacle."
Xunuo had initially thought, as Azure Wind suggested, that it would be a small-scale observation of the Fist Technique by the disciples of the Divine Mechanism Hall. To his surprise, disciples from the Divine Mechanism Hall had gathered below the stage, and many from other halls had also come upon hearing the news.
However, since he was already there, there was no reason to back down. Xunuo jumped onto the stage and clasped his hands together. "I am grateful that Shishu Meng Tian has not abandoned us. I am here to demonstrate the Fist Technique for all my fellow disciples. If any of you can gain insight from it, then we will not have wasted Shishu's good intentions."
Just then, he noticed a short figure in the crowd jumping up and down to get closer. Xunuo chuckled mischievously and pointed, saying, "Let my disciple Guo Shujiang come forward."
The crowd laughed for a moment as they parted to let Guo Shujiang through.
Upon entering the Divine Mechanism Hall, Guo Shujiang tried to boost his own reputation by boasting to everyone about his close relationship with this year's champion, Lu Zaisheng, claiming they were like brothers. Today, seeing Xunuo treat him with such disregard made him too afraid to retort; he could only glare fiercely at Xunuo. Xunuo found amusement in Guo Shujiang's embarrassment and began demonstrating the Fist Technique.
Since most of those in the audience were third-generation disciples with varying levels of skill, many were confused. They could only see Xunuo repeatedly executing this one Fist Technique while wondering why it was being presented so grandly. Those who understood were captivated, their faces filled with astonishment.
When Xunuo finished, those who did not comprehend remained puzzled. Xunuo knew that understanding depended on individual opportunity and ability, which was beyond his control. He clasped his hands again and prepared to leave the stage.
Suddenly, Azure Wind spoke up: "Liao Jiabao, I have seen you observe Liu Shizhi practice twice and gain insights each time. Today is a rare opportunity; why not take this chance to seek guidance from your Lu Shidi?"
Liao Jiabao leaped onto the stage in an instant. "Thank you for the reminder, Master."
He then turned to Xunuo and clasped his hands again. "I also specialize in Fist Technique and believe I have gained some true teachings in it. After seeing Lu Shidi's Fist Technique these past two times, I realize how shallow my understanding is compared to the vastness of rivers and seas. I do not dare say I am here to spar; I merely wish to learn from you. Please do not hesitate to share your wisdom."
Without waiting for Xunuo's response, he threw a punch toward him. Xunuo understood that Azure Wind wanted his disciples to grasp the essence of this Fist Technique through practical experience. Naturally, he responded with a technique known as Eight Horses Crossing a Plain to counter Liao Jiabao's attack.
Liao Jiabao executed a move from the Eight Extremes Fist known as the Straight Punch with Elbow. It was a technique that involved a left fist and right elbow closing in for an attack. However, as their fists collided, he felt a powerful shock that nearly knocked him off his feet, thinking to himself: this guy truly possesses incredible strength.
With no choice but to circulate his Inner Strength, he managed to withstand Xunuo's assault. As he prepared to strike with his right elbow, he suddenly saw Xunuo's fist coming in from below to intercept his right arm. Liao Jiabao quickly stepped aside to evade it, transforming his right fist into an upward palm strike. Yet, Xunuo effortlessly responded with the Eight Horses Crossing the Plains Leg Sweep.
This Eight Horses Crossing the Plains Leg Sweep was a half-finished product of Xunuo's martial arts experimentation. Originally conceived as a way to create a single technique that could counter any opponent's moves without changing, it aimed to respond to any variation with just one punch.
However, upon reflection, he realized this was impractical. The angles and trajectories of an opponent's techniques were constantly changing, and if he didn't adapt, he would end up getting hit first. Thus, he decided to choose a technique that allowed for some variations based on the possible punches from his opponent. Eventually, he settled on the Eight Horses Crossing the Plains Leg Sweep to develop this idea further. To his surprise, this exploration led him to discover over a thousand different variations.
Xunuo was momentarily speechless; what was meant to simplify things had turned out to be far more complex. Unwilling to give up, he sought ways to simplify it further and surprisingly found a method: transforming the variations in technique into changes in rhythm and timing. By altering the speed of his punches—some fast and some slow—he could effectively counter different Fist Techniques. Using this rhythmic variation in his own techniques made it extremely difficult for opponents to defend against him.
After refining this approach down to one hundred and eight techniques, Xunuo reached his limit. Although it diverged significantly from his original intent, given his current foundation and understanding, further progress seemed unattainable. Completing his initial vision would have to wait until he gained more experience in martial arts. For now, using this technique against Liao Jiabao's punches was quite effortless.
In no time at all, Liao Jiabao had thrown four punches, all of which were blocked by Xunuo using the Eight Horses Crossing the Plains Leg Sweep. As Liao Jiabao prepared for his fifth strike, Xunuo preemptively launched a straightforward punch. Liao Jiabao raised his arm to deflect it, but Xunuo altered the rhythm of his attack slightly; Liao Jiabao's deflection missed entirely. In the next moment, Xunuo's punch landed solidly on Liao Jiabao's chest. Liao Jiabao staggered back two steps before losing control of his balance and executed a somersault off the stage.
Just as Liao Jiabao hit the ground, Jiang Tiesuo jumped up and bowed respectfully, saying, "Please teach me, Master Lu."
He launched into one of his signature moves—the Sequential Heart-Piercing Palm—but Xunuo responded with the Eight Horses Crossing the Plains Leg Sweep once again. After Jiang Tiesuo completed his move and before he could attempt a second strike, Xunuo swiftly knocked him off the stage.
This continued for over ten matches; second-generation disciples could manage three or five strikes before being defeated, while third-generation disciples were dispatched with just one blow. Seeing that no one else stepped forward for now, Xunuo clasped his hands together and said, "Thank you all for your support; let's call it a day."
He bowed respectfully towards Azure Wind and quickly departed.
Upon exiting the Divine Mechanism Hall, Xunuo noticed that there was still plenty of daylight left. After a brief moment of contemplation, he headed towards the mountain stream behind Wuhua Sect.
This area housed Wuhua Sect's Herb Garden and Pharmacy. Although Xunuo knew about this place, he had never visited it before. With some free time today, he decided it was worth checking out—mainly to see Jing Lide. Although Jing Lide was clever enough not to speak out of turn, it was still necessary for Xunuo to go over and reassure him.
Though this mountain stream was located at the back of the mountain, it wasn't along the same path as where the Outer Sect Disciples lived; he needed to descend from one side of the Divine Blade Hall courtyard. So Xunuo strolled down the mountain path leisurely.
Not long after he left, he spotted an awning by the roadside, under which sat two disciples in white robes. As Xunuo approached, the two of them came forward to bow and said, "Greetings, Master Lu."
Xunuo knew that there were not many people he recognized in the sect, but those who did not know him were even fewer. He smiled and said, "I came to look for Master Jing Lide's disciple. I'm not sure if I need to report first or what."
One of the disciples with a red face hurriedly replied, "If Master Lu needs someone to guide you, it is naturally our duty. There is no need to report."
Xunuo was puzzled and said, "I heard that entering the Herb Garden requires reporting first, and someone from inside must come out to guide you before you can enter."
The disciple quickly explained, "Master Lu is new to the Seven Star Sword Hall and may not be familiar with some of the rules. This Herb Garden and the pharmacy can be accessed freely by the Sect Leader and a few Hall Masters, as well as the chief disciples of each hall. However, true disciples of the Seven Star Sword Hall can enter without such restrictions. Since Master Lu is a direct disciple of Hall Master Tian, you can naturally come and go as you please. It seems that for Master Lu, there are no forbidden areas on Wuhua Mountain anymore."
Although Xunuo was somewhat surprised by this information, he felt more delighted. Knowing that disciples of the Seven Star Sword Hall held a special status, he hadn't expected to be treated with such importance. After confirming Jing Lide's residence, he decided not to have the two disciples guide him and instead followed the mountain path down.
After passing through two checkpoints, he finally arrived at the medicinal fields of Wuhua Sect. The fields were located in the valley between two mountains and occupied most of it. It was about seven or eight acres in size, with a stream flowing through the middle of the fields. Despite the lingering chill of spring in the mountains during this season, this valley was lush and vibrant without a hint of coldness. From a distance, one could see red, green, yellow—various herbs arranged neatly in the fields, full of vitality. A few disciples were busy weeding and watering.
Seeing this scene sparked an idea in Xunuo's mind: the Elixir Formula he was cultivating had several prescriptions and methods for refining in its latter half. Now that he had this convenience, he could make some calculations.
Previously, regardless of the cost of medicinal materials, just mastering the methods for refining them seemed as difficult as climbing to heaven; Xunuo had never dared to hope for it. If it weren't for his significant improvement in Divine Sense, he wouldn't have even considered it.
Given his current state of Divine Sense, he felt somewhat confident about refining two specific medicines. One was called Reattachment Ointment. According to the Elixir Formula, this ointment could reattach limbs and heal fractures and injuries without exception. The other was called Revival Powder, which possessed an extraordinary effect—it could revive someone on the brink of death as long as there was still a breath left in them. It was truly a miraculous medicine.
