The target to be blown up was naturally Flare. 0

I realized that when Flare exploded naturally, its blast radius wasn't very large because dispersing too much would affect Flare's brightness. However, if it were detonated, for instance, by Jack's 16 assault rifle, it would scatter widely, covering a much larger area. Tang Yumo below would definitely not escape; she would be within the range of the White Phosphorus Fireworks. Even if she grew a pair of wings, there would be no way for her to fly away. 0

"Are you crazy?!" I finally couldn't help but shout at Fatty. 0

"He's not crazy; he just isn't human," Jack provided a more accurate clarification. 0

Yes, at that moment, Fatty made an inhuman decision. Perhaps he never considered Tang Yumo one of his own. 0

I didn't see Tang Yumo as one of my own either, but I knew she was human, and that was enough. In times of crisis, when choices had to be made, I might choose to abandon her, but to personally bring about her demise was something I couldn't do. Clearly, Jack felt the same way. 0

I didn't look at Fatty again; instead, Jack and I synchronized our gazes toward Flare. What would happen the moment Flare lit up? I hoped we wouldn't be blinded by its light first. 0

Fatty had great strength. While he couldn't throw Flare to the ceiling, he sent the yellow smoke-trailing Flare flying far away, tracing an arc in the air before quickly exiting the illumination range of our One-Eyed Beast Flashlight. 0

A loud and muffled sound reached my ears as the Stalactite Cave lit up like day. 0

Perhaps it was because Flare was far enough away that my eyes didn't instantly go blind; in fact, my vision wasn't significantly affected. It could also be that something illuminated by Flare caught my attention instead, preventing me from being distracted by its blinding light. 0

To our right was the stone wall that separated the Underground River. I judged that we had run into an area divided by this wall, but none of us had the time or the inclination to confirm our location. We didn't even know which side of the wall we were on. 0

A little behind Tang Yumo, directly above Flare, a massive Long-Tailed Monster appeared. Its blood-red, cold eyes and grayish-white rock-like skin were striking. Sharp claws and a tail as powerful as a steel whip. 0

However, this Long-Tailed Monster was enormous; it dwarfed any Long-Tailed Monster I had seen before, by more than ten times in size. 0

This Long-Tailed Monster could no longer cling to any stalactite, as one of its forelimbs was nearly as thick as the stalactite itself. But that didn’t mean it couldn’t cling to the ceiling; at that moment, its sharp claws were firmly gripping the ceiling. Its neck twisted back one hundred eighty degrees, and two basin-sized blood-red eyes stared down below. 0

Its tail did not hang down. Instead, it moved like a giant python searching for food in mid-air, constantly writhing. From my estimation, its tail could easily reach the ground. I felt that if it didn’t use its tail to attack Tang Yumo, it would be a miracle for both it and Tang Yumo. 0

Its limbs stretched out and grasped the ceiling, covering a vast area. Even though its skin color was very close to that of the ceiling's stone walls, it was so large that even someone with severe myopia could instantly recognize its outline without needing to focus closely. 0

"Damn it. How did it get ahead of us?" Fatty exclaimed anxiously, scratching his head. He had no automatic weapon and could only spit at the giant creature perched on the ceiling. 0

I was equally frustrated. I wanted to know how it had gotten ahead of us too. If we couldn’t figure out or resolve this issue, it wouldn’t matter how fast we ran; we would never outrun it. 0

Indeed. There was no doubt that this gigantic Long-Tailed Monster was a transformed product of Heimanluo. 0

Although the Flare thrown by Fatty couldn’t reach the ceiling, it was very close. The key point was that the explosion of this Flare was perfectly timed, right beneath the massive Long-Tailed Monster. 0

The bright light and intense heat generated by the Flare caused the Long-Tailed Monster's body to tense up suddenly, pressing even closer against the Ceiling. The explosion of the Flare sent White Phosphorus Residue flying outwards, some of it nearly splattering onto the Long-Tailed Monster's body, but just missing it at the highest point, falling down in a dazzling display. 0

"What a pity," Fatty exclaimed, stomping his foot. 0

Jack and I exchanged glances, both feeling a bit disappointed. Yes, if the Flare had exploded as Fatty suggested, the violent eruption of White Phosphorus Residue would have inevitably splattered onto the cave ceiling and onto the Long-Tailed Monster itself. 0

Of course, we didn’t expect that little bit of White Phosphorus Residue to take it down, but it would help us determine whether Heimanluo was still afraid of fire. This was crucial for us. 0

Our equipment for dealing with Heimanluo consisted of high-temperature weapons—essentially fire. After our first encounter just now, I began to doubt whether it was still afraid of flames. If it wasn’t afraid of fire, we would have no means to combat it. 0

Tang Yumo had witnessed the power of the White Phosphorus Incendiary Grenade, but she couldn’t distinguish whether the light illuminating the Underground Cavern was from a burning projectile or a Flare. In fact, under the current circumstances, it didn’t matter much to her; she needed to escape the blast radius at all costs and avoid getting contaminated by White Phosphorus Residue. 0

In that moment when the Flare lit up the Underground Cavern, Tang Yumo decisively dropped her torch and sprinted towards us as fast as she could. If it weren’t for the delay caused by dropping her backpack, I believed she would have tossed it aside without hesitation. 0

"Tap tap tap." 0

My gaze shifted between the Long-Tailed Monster on the Ceiling and Tang Yumo on the Ground, while Jack’s M16 assault rifle spat out flames. 0

My handgun had limited range; even if I could shoot at the Long-Tailed Monster, my bullets would be ineffective against it. In this situation, only Jack’s M16 automatic rifle could inflict damage on the Long-Tailed Monster. 0

Jack once again showcased his skill in quickly reloading, bullets pouring relentlessly onto the Long-Tailed Monster. The creature's massive body resembled an immovable target, being riddled with bullets that tore through its flesh, spilling large amounts of black blood or liquid from its wounds. 0

"Bring it down, I'll burn it," Fatty snarled, clutching a Molotov cocktail in one hand. 0

Fatty's frenzied emotions infected me as I gripped my guns and pointed at the Long-Tailed Monster. "Aim well; I'll blow it up." 0

Under the barrage of bullets, the Long-Tailed Monster, which had been clinging to the Ceiling, soon showed signs of faltering. Its four claws struggled to maintain their grip, and finally, one claw slipped free. 0

"Target its claws!" I shouted more frantically. 0

At one moment, when the Long-Tailed Monster's second claw lost its hold on the Ceiling, the enormous beast plummeted down. (To Be Continued...) 0
