Chapter 59: The Identity of Lin Miaomiao
Lin Miaomiao's body was extremely weak, but she was more concerned about Lin Feng and neglected her own condition. After getting up and quickly tidying herself, she prepared to enter the starry sky.
"Sweetheart, you have finally arrived."
Lin Miaomiao held the baby in her arms, her heart overflowing with love. The child, with closed eyes, was sucking on her own fingers, looking utterly adorable.
"Sweetheart, I will take you to find your father."
With that, Lin Miaomiao flew into the Cosmic Starry Sky, cradling the baby. The Stunning Man closely followed her, ensuring her safety.
Time passed without her noticing, and they arrived above Desolate Star. To their shock, Desolate Star had been split in two, floating in the cosmos. Everyone on Desolate Star had turned into mere shells of their former selves.
"Where is Lin Feng? Where is Wind Spirit?"
There was no trace of Lin Feng or Wind Spirit on Desolate Star. Lin Miaomiao gazed into the depths of the universe, searching for her husband.
A month passed, then two… She lost track of time until she finally encountered the Divine Dragon. The Divine Dragon was covered in blood, its aura faint to the point of near extinction. Even its eyelids could barely open.
Wind Spirit clung to the last shred of survival instinct and had managed to hold on until now. It was a miracle.
"Spirit..."
Lin Miaomiao caressed the Divine Dragon, her heart aching deeply. She released her spiritual energy for the Divine Dragon to absorb. Only then did it regain some strength and open its eyes.
"Miaomiao, you finally came." Wind Spirit said weakly.
"What happened? What's wrong with Lin Feng?" Lin Miaomiao asked.
"Let's talk about it later," Wind Spirit replied, her voice heavy with sorrow. Then she added, "Is it a boy or a girl?"
"A girl," Lin Miaomiao responded.
"Come, let me take a look."
Wind Spirit gazed at the infant in the swaddling blanket, her skin as smooth as jade, utterly adorable. Wind Spirit couldn't help but smile and said, "She's truly beautiful. She will surely grow up to resemble you."
"Ading, please take us back," Lin Miaomiao said. She felt extremely weak now. Since giving birth, she hadn't had a moment's rest.
"Alright."
Stunning Man nodded and transformed into an ancient, ornate cauldron that carried Lin Miaomiao, Wind Spirit, Lin Feng, and their daughter as they traversed the cosmos, eventually returning to Earth.
"Spirit, what exactly happened?" Lin Miaomiao asked while examining Lin Feng's body.
Wind Spirit recounted the events that had transpired on Desolate Star. Then she asked, "Miaomiao, how is Lin Feng? Can he wake up?"
"We ultimately cannot escape our fate; things have developed to this point."
Lin Miaomiao wore a bitter smile. She had encountered this scene and such an ending in her dreams long ago. She never expected today would unfold like this. But would she and her daughter, along with Lin Feng, remain forever apart without ever reuniting?
Wind Spirit felt a pang in her heart and asked, "Must it be this way?"
Lin Miaomiao nodded, tears streaming silently down her face. Wind Spirit remained silent as well; she desperately wished for Lin Feng to awaken, but if it meant sacrificing Lin Miaomiao in return, that price was simply too great for her to accept.
"I want to be alone with Lin Feng and our daughter for a while," Lin Miaomiao requested.
"Alright."
The Wind Spirit led the Stunning Man away.
Lin Miaomiao placed their daughter in Lin Feng's arms, gently stroking Lin Feng's face as she spoke to him, "Lin Feng, look. I have given you a daughter. Isn't she adorable?"
"Lin Feng, do you prefer girls or boys? But now, you have no choice. You can only love girls, love our daughter."
"Lin Feng, we haven't named our daughter yet. What should we name her?"
"Lin Feng, meeting you has been wonderful. Even if we can never be together in this lifetime, unable to grow old together, I am already content."
"Lin Feng, you will remember me. You will remember me for a lifetime, right?"
"My dear daughter, you will remember your mother too, for a lifetime, won't you?"
"Lin Feng, my dear daughter, I love you both. I love you deeply, more than my own life. For you, I would leave without hesitation."
"You must live happily."
"After people die, they become stars in the Void, watching over the ones they love. The deeper the love, the brighter the stars. Lin Feng, my daughter, when you miss me, just look up at the night sky. The brightest star is me."
"Wah wah wah..."
At that moment, the baby cried and tears streamed down her face. Lin Feng's eyes also glistened with tears.
"Don't cry, my good daughter, don't cry..."
Lin Miaomiao held her daughter tightly, her heart filled with an overwhelming sense of reluctance. How could she bear to leave? She gritted her teeth, holding back the tears that threatened to fall.
"I love you both, I'm so sorry..."
Suddenly, Lin Miaomiao felt a sharp pain in her heart, as if it were being cut by a knife. She let out a sorrowful cry, and then her entire being shattered. The fragmented body transformed into countless sparkling strands of spiritual energy. Most of this energy surged into Lin Feng's body, while some flowed into her daughter's.
Half a month later, Lin Feng opened his eyes. He was silent, more silent than ever before.
His daughter lay peacefully beside him, sucking on her fingers. Lin Feng picked her up and stepped outside.
"Lin Feng, you're awake!" Ling Er exclaimed happily upon seeing him.
Lin Feng remained silent, like a wooden statue. He cradled his daughter as he walked into the starry sky. Standing in the Void of Stars, he looked around, searching for the brightest star.
"Do you see it, my daughter? That star over there is your mother," Lin Feng said with a smile, though his heart was heavy with sorrow. He wanted to cry but didn't want that star to witness his tears.
"Mm-mm..." His daughter suddenly let out a joyful shout.
Unable to resist, Lin Feng gently touched her cheek and said, "You truly are Miaomiao's daughter. What should we name you? Let's call you Tianxin. Tianxin means 'thoughts.' In this life, we will always remember her. I miss my wife; you miss your mother, okay? Lin Tianxin?"
"Mm-hmm..." His daughter responded with another cheerful shout.
"Tianxin, let me sing you a song."
The stars above shed tears, the roses on the ground wilted. The cold wind blew; as long as I have you by my side. The insects fly, the flowers sleep; one pair after another is beautiful. Not afraid of the dark, only afraid of a broken heart; no matter how tired we are or which direction we face.
"I was so foolish. I should have realized what your Ethereal Body truly is. It is a plant of Imperial Medicine that was once planted in Desolate Star. Miaomiao, how could you be so foolish? So foolish?"
Lin Feng could no longer hold back his tears, which fell like sparkling star Light Spots, dancing in the starry Void.
The sorrowful mourning lasted for a month. After a month, Lin Feng gathered his emotions and knew he needed to resolve some matters. If he did not resolve them, how could he face the sacrifice of Miaomiao?
Now, his Cultivation had reached the peak of Preparatory Emperor. He only needed an opportunity to step into the Emperor Realm.
Lin Feng looked down at Earth and murmured, "Do I really have to consume everything on this planet to become an emperor? Even if I ultimately succeed, what meaning would that hold?"
"Is there truly no other way?" (To be continued...)
