Chapter 6: Blood of the Sage
Lin Bai was dead, a legendary figure had truly vanished. He would never appear again.
The Azure Vine Saint Ancestor, the Sage of the Demon Sect, and the Sage of the Ghost Sect all watched Master Da warily, their expressions grave. Clearly, he was a formidable adversary.
Master Da stood calmly, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. In killing Lin Bai, he had also sustained injuries.
Wiping the blood from his lips, Master Da rose and walked through the countless snowflake-like strokes of rules as if strolling in a quiet garden. His overwhelming aura forced the three from Azure Vine to involuntarily retreat.
"He has surpassed us," sighed the Azure Vine Saint Ancestor.
"We must unite; today we must kill this man," declared the Saint of the Ghost Sect ominously.
Thunderous Roar...
At that moment, Master Da struck. He took the initiative to attack. Within the snowflake strokes of rules, he moved like a phantom, unpredictable. In the ancient battlefield, Master Da's figure was everywhere, leaving them unsure which one was truly him.
The Saint of the Ghost Sect shouted, "Everyone be alert; this is Market's ultimate skill, Divine Ability: Ruins."
Upon hearing this, both companions became extremely vigilant. However, Master Da's speed was astonishing; he dove forward and broke through their Three Saints' spatial confinement.
Countless versions of Master Da simultaneously formed hand seals. Then, within the ancient battlefield, numerous Desolate Towers emerged, exuding terrifying divine might.
"No matter what, you are but one person."
The Three Saints spoke indifferently, dispersing all their cultivation. The ground opened for them, and the Great Dao Rules belonging to them flowed into their bodies like a river cascading downwards.
Soon, all three of them radiated Divine Radiance, the boundless power of rules enveloping the entire ancient battlefield.
"Must today's Peach Banquet spill the blood of a Sage to reach its peak? Then let it flow abundantly," Master Da said calmly.
"Only the blood of your Divine Ruins is needed," the Azure Vine Saint Ancestor sneered.
"Come and take it if you dare."
Master Da once again inscribed, establishing an even larger Divine Ruins manifestation space. Within the ancient battlefield, snowflakes danced in the air, each crystal clear. It was as if a winter snow had fallen, blanketing everything in white.
Holding a brush, Master Da expressed his understanding of the Great Dao through his writing. In this generation, it was rare to find a Sage. Yet when one did emerge, it was a complete sublimation of the Great Dao, unmatched in power.
The Azure Vine Saint Ancestor summoned countless vines again, attempting to sweep away the snow-like brush strokes. The Saint of the Ghost Sect unleashed an array of Eerie Energy, which coalesced into numerous skulls that gnawed at the snowflakes. The Demon Sect Saint grew tall and imposing, as if he were bearing the weight of the entire ancient battlefield. He swung a massive blade towards Master Da's manifestation.
At that moment, suddenly all figures transformed into a single Light Spot, which burst forth from the Divine Ruins manifestation, producing a sound of slaughter that shook the ground.
Clang...
This sound of slaughter was like a divine sword awakening from its sheath, soaring through space and looking down upon all beings. With terrifying speed, it pierced towards the forehead of the Azure Vine Holy Clan.
"What... is happening?"
The Azure Vine Saint Ancestor was ambushed, a crack appearing in his forehead as Essence Blood flowed incessantly from him. His face displayed a look of confusion and disbelief. Blood dripped down his face, staining his garments.
"Is this what you wanted?"
Master Da spoke without looking at the Sages of the Ghost Sect and Demon Sect, instead gazing into the distant void as if someone stood there.
The Azure Vine Saint Ancestor collapsed with a thunderous crash, and Yaochi Residence fell into a terrifying silence. The body of the Azure Vine Saint Ancestor lay motionless, his Primordial Spirit seemingly extinguished. There would be no resurrection.
The ancient battlefield was enveloped in stillness, only the delicate snowflakes falling softly. Each flake was crystal clear, exuding an Ink Fragrance.
A top-tier demon clan leader had died just like that. In the entire demon race, he was an invincible existence. Even among the Demon Clan and Beast Clan, he was a supreme ruler.
Following the death of Lin Bai, the puppet Sage, a second Sage had fallen. In this era of the Void Emperor, how many Great Sages could there be?
When Master Da chose to strike, it was an ambush. With a full-force attack condensed into a single point, he could pierce the heavens. This was the might of the strongest Sage.
For this reason, Master Da bled again and coughed lightly. The Sage Realm often exceeded imagination with its terrifying Holy Might, all infused with Essence Blood or other enhancements.
Master Da not only expended Essence Blood but also drew upon ancestral blessings combined with his own formidable strength. He could easily kill any one of them in a one-on-one confrontation.
The Sages of the Demon Sect and Ghost Sect ceased their attacks and retreated, their expressions stiffening. An ancient relic who had survived for thousands of years had perished. They had chosen to awaken in this life for a promise—a promise of immortality—but it had ended their lives prematurely.
The older they became, the more they cherished their lifespan. Both felt a chill spreading amidst the falling snowflakes, sending shivers through them.
Master Da coughed up blood, yet his expression remained calm. He said, "Is the blood from the Sage enough?"
"Not enough; I still need yours. Let's see how much Essence Blood you have left."
The Sage of the Demon Sect gripped the Holy Blade in his hand and launched an attack. The battle had begun, and there was no turning back. The only way forward was to kill Master Da to end it all.
The Holy Blade merged with the Great Dao Rules, weaving a web of laws that formed a terrifying power.
"You are sacrificing your own life to fight us. Although you are young, how long can you hold out?" The Sage of the Ghost Sect sneered as he initiated his assault.
"Longer than you," Master Da replied indifferently.
The Sage of the Ghost Sect opened his mouth wide, exhaling a dense Eerie Energy. This Eerie Energy spread across the ancient battlefield, clashing with the swirling snowflakes.
The pitch-black Eerie Energy was ominous and terrifying, accompanied by chilling wails that sent shivers down one's spine. Eventually, this Eerie Energy coalesced into a gigantic, unmatched skull. The skull opened its massive jaws, shattering the void as it lunged toward the Divine Ruins' manifestation.
Wherever the skull passed, vitality vanished, leaving behind an aura of terrifying annihilation. The skull bit through the manifestation of the Divine Ruins, attempting to swallow Master Da whole.
"Quickly lend me your strength and push him into my Nether Realm!" shouted the Sage of the Ghost Sect.
"Alright."
The Demon Sect Saint unleashed the Great Dao Rules with all his might, driving Master Da step by step toward the gaping maw of the skull. Together, they aimed to force Master Da into the Silent Realm for eternal exile.
Ding ding ding ding ding...
Flakes of snow fell like blades, endlessly swirling, carrying the power of rules and imprinting the essence of Master Da's Vital Energy and his unique path. The snowflakes formed a barrier, ultimately trapping Master Da at the mouth of a skull. Half of his body was inside, while the other half remained outside.
"Can't get in? Then I'll feast on your half of the flesh."
The Saint of the Ghost Sect roared, unleashing his utmost Holy Might. It was a critical moment, a life-and-death struggle. Boundless power of rules clashed within the ancient battlefield. The scene was chaotic, utterly destroyed beyond recognition.
"Ah..."
A piercing scream echoed, coming from the Sage of the Demon Clan. He attempted to close his mouth to bite off Master Da's half of the flesh but did not expect that Master Da would force his jaws open until they tore apart.
In the end, the head of the Saint of the Ghost Sect rolled to the ground, marking his death. The Blood Devouring Cauldron had somehow re-entered the ancient battlefield and swiftly consumed the flesh of the Saint of the Ghost Sect before vanishing again.
"Even the Sage from the secret realm of Ghost Sect has fallen. Master Da's strength is terrifying to such an extent." Everyone was shocked by Master Da's power.
The Humanity of the Nine Provinces cheered joyously as they witnessed Master Da break through the killing formation and slay the Three Saints. They waved their arms in excitement and shouted loudly in celebration.
Master Da remained standing quietly. Snowflakes continued to fall from the sky, shimmering with Divine Radiance. The ancient battlefield had completely transformed into a land of swirling snow, blanketed in white.
Master Da coughed up blood repeatedly, his face appearing even paler against the backdrop of white snow. Although he had slain the Three Saints, he too had paid a heavy price.
Among the four great Sages, only the Sage of the Demon Sect remained. He looked at Master Da, fear evident in his eyes. This fear came from deep within his bones, impossible to conceal.
Master Da looked at him and calmly spoke, "Is that enough?"
"You think I'm afraid? You're also at your last gasp; it’s uncertain who will die first. Kill."
The Demon Sect Saint let out a roar, both to rally himself and to bluff his opponent. His body ignited with a layer of blood shadow, burning the Essence Blood within him, risking his life for this strike.
A blade flashed like a rainbow across the ancient battlefield. The rainbow was red, the color of blood.
Master Da continued to form seals, coughing incessantly as blood flowed from him. The swirling snowflakes all lifted off the ground, coalescing into a Desolate Tower that struck towards the blood-red blade.
Bang...
An indescribable sound of breaking air echoed. The ancient battlefield trembled, on the verge of collapse at any moment.
"Ah..."
The Sage of the Demon Sect let out a wretched scream as his body was directly shattered by the Desolate Tower. Master Da staggered back, retreating several dozen steps before he could steady himself. Blood had already stained his collar.
"They're all dead; four Sages have perished."
Too many people were left in shock and speechless. What level of Foundation had Master Da reached? He alone intimidated Eight Pseudo-Saints and killed four Sages. Master Da's life had been monotonous, but today he gained fame through battle, becoming a god in one fight—who could withstand him?
Thunderous Roar...
In the Void, a sudden, intense roar echoed through the emptiness. Several figures pierced the fabric of reality, arriving one after another. Among them was a man dressed in black, his hair disheveled, emanating an aura that instilled fear in those who beheld him.
He surveyed the scene before him and exclaimed in anger, "They are all dead! I arrived too late."
Soon after, another figure appeared, clad in a black robe and wearing a black Skeleton Mask. It seemed as if the mask was not merely a disguise; his face was a skull. He spoke ominously, "This is outrageous. What worthless fools."
Then, an elderly man arrived and stood beside Master Da.
"Elder Ji has come; the human race has gained another Sage."
"Master Da is no longer alone. With Elder Ji's assistance, the human race will dominate the Nine Provinces. Who would dare to defy us?"
Elder Ji's arrival greatly boosted the morale of the humans. He had frequently appeared in the Nine Provinces and was highly respected; who did not know of him? (To be continued...)
