Chapter 7: A Harmonious Reunion
In the Divine Ruins Realm, Lin Feng, the Guan Family, and Wind Spirit returned after Lin Miaomiao entered seclusion to consolidate her Foundation. After three months, everyone emerged from their retreats one by one.
Lin Feng, the weakest in cultivation, was also the first to exit. His cultivation had been thoroughly solidified at the Master Realm, and he was not far from reaching the next level.
Soon after, members of the Guan Family, Wind Spirit, and Miaomiao also emerged.
"Where is Second Senior Brother?" Lin Feng asked, noticing Dugu Po was absent.
"Second Senior Brother is still in seclusion healing," Lin Miaomiao replied.
The Guan Family inquired anxiously, "What happened to Dugu Po? Why is he injured? Who hurt him?"
Lin Feng added, "Moreover, I saw that not only was Second Senior Brother's residence destroyed, but even Master’s dilapidated house is gone. It seems like the Divine Ruins Realm experienced a battle."
"Could it be that someone attacked our home?" Lin Feng asked in shock.
Lin Miaomiao explained the situation, and everyone began to understand. However, she did not reveal her true identity.
On that day when the Extinction Thunder descended, Dugu Po had shielded Lin Miaomiao from its wrath, nearly sacrificing his life. When he could no longer endure it, he had a sudden idea to take refuge in Master’s Thatched Cottage to escape the Extinction Thunder.
The houses in the Market appeared shabby and lowly but surprisingly sturdy enough to withstand the might of the Extinction Thunder. Unfortunately, collateral damage ensued; Master Da's house and Dugu Po's pavilion were destroyed.
The Guan Family gazed at Dugu Po's place of seclusion and murmured, "He still hasn't come out. It seems this time his injuries are severe."
Lin Miaomiao remained silent. Only she knew how grave Second Senior Brother's injuries were; he had nearly died. If Dugu Po were to perish, Lin Miaomiao would carry guilt and remorse for the rest of her life.
Lin Feng smiled and said, "A Blessing in Disguise, who knows if it is not a blessing? Although Extinction Thunder is quite domineering, on the contrary, it can also be very beneficial. Second Senior Brother has endured it; his cultivation should greatly improve."
The Guan Family nodded in agreement. "Indeed. This kind of imperial thunder tribulation, it is rare to see even once in ten thousand years. This can be considered his fortune."
In the following days, the Guan Family and Lin Feng stayed in the Divine Ruins Realm, waiting for Dugu Po to emerge so they could discuss the recent Nine Provinces Cataclysm.
The escape of Tao Tie was a significant threat. If Tao Tie were to recover to its peak, its strength would be comparable to that of the Quasi-Emperor Realm, capable of truly destroying stars.
Five days later, Dugu Po still had not come out. Wind Spirit was worried about the safety of Wind Nation and felt they could not continue waiting.
Lin Feng and Wind Spirit were taking a walk in the Divine Ruins Realm.
Wind Spirit asked, "Lin Feng, have you talked to Sister Miao about our situation?"
"I forgot," Lin Feng replied.
"Did you forget or are you just afraid?" Wind Spirit pressed further.
"I just haven't had the chance," Lin Feng explained, as he had not yet figured out how to address Miaomiao.
"I'm leaving tomorrow. I hope to know the answer before I go. Is that okay?" Wind Spirit asked.
"Understood. I'll make sure of it."
That evening, Lin Feng arrived at Miaomiao's room, where she was alone.
Lin Feng entered with a charming smile. Noticing something odd about Lin Feng's demeanor, Miaomiao asked, "What's wrong with you?"
"What's wrong? Do I have something?" Lin Feng asked knowingly.
"You seem off. Are you hiding something from me?"
"No, yes."
"Is it a yes or a no?"
Lin Feng chuckled, taking Miaomiao's hands and leading her to sit on the edge of the bed. "Miaomiao, it's been months since we last met, and you look even more beautiful."
"Really?" Lin Miaomiao felt a bit pleased.
"Of course. You're like a beauty that could make fish sink and birds fall, isn't that right, my Miaomiao?" Lin Feng flattered her earnestly.
"Something unusual must be going on. What are you hiding from me?" Lin Miaomiao looked at Lin Feng seriously.
"Actually, there's nothing much," Lin Feng said, unsure of how to start.
Lin Miaomiao was incredibly perceptive. "Is it that you have a girl you like?"
"No," Lin Feng replied immediately, then added, "But what if I do?"
"Then bring her home! I'm not one to be stingy. It's quite normal for a man to have multiple wives," Lin Miaomiao said casually.
"Miaomiao, you're too good. I love you so much," Lin Feng exclaimed as he pulled her hands and kissed her passionately.
"Stop buttering me up. Which girl do you have your eye on? I can help you with introductions," Miaomiao said, adopting a wise elder's demeanor.
"Actually, you know this person too," Lin Feng stammered.
"Well, if it's someone from our side, that makes things easier," Lin Miaomiao replied cheerfully.
"It's... it's Wind Spirit," Lin Feng said, looking embarrassed.
"Great, it really is her. I didn't guess wrong. Look at you, Lin Feng. While I’m not around, you’re out there having a good time. You’re something else, Lin Feng. How old are you and already learning to flirt?" Lin Miaomiao suddenly changed her demeanor and exploded in anger.
Lin Feng looked at Miaomiao with fear in his eyes and said, "Miaomiao, didn’t you just agree?"
"If I didn’t agree, would you have spilled everything?"
"Miaomiao, you tricked me into talking."
"And what's wrong with that? I... I even hit you."
Lin Miaomiao's small fists rained down on Lin Feng. However, she didn't use her full strength; otherwise, Lin Feng wouldn't stand a chance against her. Miaomiao was already a Legendary Realm powerhouse.
"Dead Lin Feng, bastard Lin Feng, stinky Lin Feng... I’ll beat you to death... Didn’t you used to love only me? What about now... It’s all nonsense... All men’s words are indeed nonsense..."
Lin Feng didn’t fight back and let Miaomiao hit him; he felt a pang of guilt and had no words to say.
"You talk... You have the ability to flirt outside but not the ability to admit it... When did this start, huh?"
After tiring herself out from hitting him, Lin Miaomiao collapsed onto the bed in distress. Lin Feng supported her shoulders and said softly, "Miaomiao, I'm sorry."
"Is saying sorry useful? The deed is done," Miaomiao replied under the covers.
“Miaomiao, I’m sorry.” Lin Feng didn’t know how to comfort her and kept apologizing.
Suddenly, Lin Miaomiao sat up and pointed outside, saying, “You go and chase that Wind Spirit away. I never want to see her again. I’ve been so good to her, yet she steals my man.”
“This…” Lin Feng looked troubled.
“What? Are you feeling sorry for her? If she doesn’t leave, then I will.”
Lin Miaomiao was about to get up and leave when Lin Feng grabbed her arm and said, “Miaomiao. Please stop. Can we talk this through?”
“Fine.”
Lin Miaomiao suddenly became eerily calm. She looked at Lin Feng and asked, “So, how did this all start? Who initiated it? It must have been you, the heartless one.”
“Miaomiao, can you not say such harsh things?” Lin Feng frowned.
“Are you saying you can do whatever you want but don’t want to hear about it?” Lin Miaomiao retorted.
Lin Feng thought for a moment and said seriously, “Miaomiao, I know I was wrong. But I hope you can agree to accept Wind Spirit.”
“Just handle your own matters. Why do you need my approval? We’re not married; I’m not tied to you in any way. You can love whoever you want,” Lin Miaomiao scoffed.
“Miaomiao, please don’t say things in anger. Even if we’re not married, you are still my wife.”
“What does ‘wife’ even mean? I don’t understand.”
“A wife means a spouse.”
"Alright. If you consider me your wife, listen carefully, I do not agree. Did you hear that? If you didn't, I'll say it again, a hundred times: I do not agree," Lin Miaomiao said angrily.
Lin Feng wanted to say something, but seeing Miaomiao's current demeanor, he realized it was pointless. He stood up and said, "Miaomiao, I'm sorry. But I hope you can agree to Wind Spirit."
"Not a chance. Don't even think about it. If you want to go, then go with him. Consider me blind for having chosen you."
"You... Miaomiao. I'll come back when you've calmed down."
Just as Lin Feng was about to leave, laughter suddenly echoed from inside the room. The laughter grew louder and was very familiar. Then Wind Spirit walked out from behind the bed.
"What are you doing here?" Lin Feng asked, looking puzzled.
Lin Miaomiao burst into laughter, shaking with mirth.
Lin Feng quickly understood and said, "Oh, I see. You two have been in cahoots all along to set me up?"
Wind Spirit had already informed Lin Miaomiao of everything and received her agreement. Lin Miaomiao felt a pang of sadness; some of the harsh words she had just directed at Lin Feng were actually her true feelings.
However, after realizing her own identity, Lin Miaomiao understood that she could never grow old with Lin Feng. Having someone accompany him was better than being alone. Moreover, she and Wind Spirit shared many interests, which led her to accept him.
"How was my performance? Did I do well?" Lin Miaomiao asked proudly.
"Sister Miao, you were amazing! I was listening from behind and almost believed it was real. Honestly, I was scared," Wind Spirit replied.
The biggest weight on Lin Feng's heart finally lifted. He felt relieved: "This is bad. Before we even started, you two teamed up against me; life is going to be unbearable from now on."
"Exactly! Let this be a lesson for a fickle man like you. This is just the beginning," Lin Miaomiao said with a hint of vengeance.
Lin Feng knew that Miaomiao was joking. He looked at her sincerely and said, "Miaomiao, thank you."
"Fool, we're all family now."
Miaomiao took Lin Feng's hand and then took Wind Spirit's hand, linking them together. "From now on, we are a family."
"Yes, I listen to Sister Miao," Wind Spirit replied obediently, not forgetting to flatter her.
"I also listen to Miaomiao," Lin Feng chimed in, following suit.
"Enough of that. Three people are just right. Lin Feng, don't bring anyone else back next time," Lin Miaomiao warned.
"I won't, I promise I won't," Lin Feng immediately replied.
"Alright, it's getting late. Everyone should rest. Tomorrow, Ling'er has to return to Wind Nation."
"Oh."
Wind Spirit and Lin Feng stood up to leave when Lin Miaomiao stopped them. "It's so late already; where are you going?"
"Aren't we going home to rest?"
"Can't we rest here?" Lin Miaomiao countered.
Lin Feng quickly understood. "Wow, Miaomiao, you're so nice."
Wind Spirit blushed and said, "Sister Miao, I'm not ready yet. This is all too sudden."
"Have you two not kissed yet?" Lin Miaomiao asked in surprise.
"Without your consent, how could we dare?" Lin Feng replied honestly.
"That's not bad," Lin Miaomiao said, somewhat satisfied. "Don't get any funny ideas. Since we're family, let's all share the bed tonight and have a chat. But nothing else. Also, I have something to share with you."
"What is it?" Lin Feng asked eagerly.
"I... I'm pregnant," Lin Miaomiao said with a smile, her face full of happiness.
"Wow, I'm going to be a dad! Hahaha!" Lin Feng shouted excitedly.
"Sister Miao, congratulations!" Wind Spirit said, genuinely happy as well.
That night, the three of them shared the bed, enjoying each other's company. (To be continued...)
