Chapter Ninety-Eight: Reunion and Understanding
Lin Miaomiao had been searching for Lin Feng in the Snowfield for thirteen days. During these thirteen days, she neither ate nor drank, resting not even for a moment. She had traversed the entire Snowfield twice, yet showed no signs of stopping.
“Junior Sister, he is already dead. Why put yourself through this?” Lu Wushuang followed her closely, concern etched on her face.
Lin Miaomiao ignored Lu Wushuang, stubbornly continuing her search.
“Junior Sister, even if you are searching, you should eat something. Otherwise, you might weaken yourself to death before you find him.”
Lu Wushuang held a porcelain vial containing some pills that could help cultivators sustain themselves without food.
Over these thirteen days, something extraordinary had happened to Lin Miaomiao. She had gone without food or water while desperately utilizing her cultivation to fly through the Snowfield. Her cultivation had long been exhausted, leaving her in a state of extreme weakness.
At that moment, a Vitality Tide suddenly surged within the Snowfield, an overwhelming wave of energy flooding into her body. This revitalized Lin Miaomiao significantly. Otherwise, like anyone else who had completely depleted their cultivation, she would have collapsed and died after six days at most.
Amidst this miraculous phenomenon, Lin Miaomiao's ranking on the monument improved by one place; she now stood second, shocking the entire realm.
Upon emerging from the secret chamber, Lin Feng discovered a massive Yuan Stone Coffin within his Sea of Consciousness.
“This Yuan Stone Coffin is quite mysterious; it has actually entered my Sea of Consciousness.”
The Moon City Sword hovered above the Yuan Stone Coffin as if standing guard. After awakening, the Moon City Sword was no longer under Lin Feng's control.
“The General Cultivation Secret Method can only assist me in reaching Fate Realization. It cultivates various types of Spiritual Roots rather than just focusing on Metallic Spiritual Roots like most methods do. However, to cultivate various types of Spiritual Roots to their utmost strength, relying solely on the General Outline is insufficient. I will need supplementary items.”
Lin Feng flipped through the book in his hand. He had encountered two volumes so far; one was this method. Now, the third volume piqued Lin Feng's interest.
The story speaks of treasures formed entirely from a single attribute known as the Spiritual Root. These include the Leaf Butterfly, Golden Spirit Seed, Glassy Ice, Sun Crystal, and Earth Scorpion. Each treasure's characteristics and features are described in detail, accompanied by illustrations.
"Perhaps if I find these five treasures and refine them, I can cultivate all five attributes of my Spiritual Root to their utmost potential. This book was given to me by Master Da; he must know about cultivating a single attribute Spiritual Root. I just wonder if they have obtained these five treasures and cultivated them to their peak."
At that moment, Mo Mo awoke from her slumber, her face still pale and looking somewhat weak. She rose from the Ancient Cauldron and softly asked, "Where is this? Have we made it out?"
"You’re awake," Lin Feng said with a look of joy.
Mo Mo glanced around at the endless Snowfield. There were no pursuers surrounding them. "It seems we have escaped."
Lin Feng nodded. "You should rest and recover some of your cultivation. I'll take you back."
Holding the Ancient Cauldron, Lin Feng sped through the Snowstorm toward Dongping County. After a day, they finally approached Dongping County, but he did not enter.
This battle was meticulously arranged by Jiang Wannian, aimed at eliminating Tang Jiner while also taking down several loyal generals along the border of the Tang Dynasty. Now, the entire border had completely fallen under Jiang Wannian's influence.
Lin Feng recalled Tang Jiner's last words about the War Maniac's confession hidden in her study. He was determined to sneak in and investigate.
"Miss Mo, we must part ways here. The entire border is no longer a place for us," Lin Feng said.
Mo Mo gazed longingly at Dongping County, memories flooding her mind. Her beautiful eyes shimmered as she said, "I really should go back. The General needs treatment."
"Can she still survive?" Lin Feng couldn't help but ask.
Mo Mo shook her head gravely. "Before I sealed her soul, the General had already exhausted one soul and one spirit. It will be extremely difficult to save her. Only if the sect leader personally intervenes would there be a glimmer of hope for her survival."
Lin Feng let out a sigh, unsure of what to say at that moment.
Mo Mo looked at Lin Feng and said, "You are a good person, someone who values loyalty. If the General wakes up, she will definitely remember you."
Lin Feng chuckled lightly, "Whether she remembers or not isn't that important; what matters is that she can live on."
"Is that so?" Mo Mo gazed at Lin Feng and asked.
Lin Feng avoided Mo Mo's gaze and turned to his left, where he was taken aback.
On the snowfield to his left, a woman dressed in a purple gown was anxiously running toward him. She waved her hands frantically, her lips moving as if she were shouting something, but no sound came from her mouth.
In her haste, she stumbled on the snowfield and rolled several times before quickly getting back up and continuing to sprint toward him without caring about her injuries.
Watching this scene unfold, his eyes became misty with emotion. He immediately activated his cultivation and appeared in front of the woman in purple in an instant.
Lin Feng tightly embraced the woman in purple. Choking back tears, he called out, "Miaomiao."
Seeing Lin Feng alive brought tears of joy to Lin Miaomiao's eyes. However, her voice had long since become hoarse, and now it was difficult for her to speak. She could only form the words with her lips: Lin Feng.
"Miaomiao, you’ve suffered; it’s my fault."
Lin Feng held Miaomiao close, tears falling onto her back.
Not far away, Mo Mo quietly observed this scene. Seeing the woman in purple, she noted that her appearance was remarkable and even rivaled that of the General.
An ancient and sacred aura emanated from her, a rare Foundation Aura that hinted at her extraordinary nature.
"In his eyes, there was only her. And in her eyes, there was only him. They were truly... a perfect match."
Mo Mo revealed a hint of a bitter smile, then quietly picked up Tang Jiner from within the Ancient Cauldron and disappeared into the Snowstorm.
"Miaomiao, come here. Let me introduce you to two friends."
Lin Feng tightly held Lin Miaomiao's hand as they walked toward the Ancient Cauldron, only to find that Mo Mo's figure had vanished. Inside the Ancient Cauldron, Tang Jiner was also gone.
"Where did they go?" Lin Feng looked around in confusion and then added, "Maybe they left. Let's head back."
Before returning, Lin Feng stealthily slipped into the General's Office, hoping to find evidence from War Maniac. Unfortunately, a fire had broken out in the General's Office, leaving it completely charred. Even the room where Tang Jiner had lived or stayed for an extended period had been thoroughly searched.
"Jiang Wannian is ruthless."
The testimonies had clearly fallen into Jiang Wannian's hands. Against such a powerful warlord, Tang Jiner and he were still too inexperienced to topple him. Surviving his grasp was already a stroke of luck.
"No, to be precise, I am already dead. If it weren't for the Moon City Sword's assistance, I would have perished in the Cloud Sea."
Lin Feng, Miaomiao, and Lu Wushuang sped toward Solitary Moon City. After consuming some spiritual herbs, Miaomiao's throat recovered.
"Lin Feng, tell me about your experiences over the past year," Lin Miaomiao asked with a cheerful smile.
"Alright. My experiences over the past year and a half have been nothing short of astonishing, filled with ups and downs and remarkable events..."
"Come on, can't you stop bragging for once?"
"Heh, I just can't help it when I see you. Now, let's get to the point."
As they traveled, Lin Feng recounted his experiences over the past year and a half. He introduced Lin Miaomiao to some new things, like Xuanjia. He also mentioned other sects he had encountered, such as the Fire Departure Sect and the Flowing Cloud Sect, which were part of the Three Major Sects of Yangzhou. He briefly touched on his superior's appreciation for him, but that was all.
Lu Wushuang remained silent throughout, watching as Miaomiao transformed into a different person upon seeing Lin Feng. It stirred a mix of emotions within him. Over the past year and a half, he had put in considerable effort to pursue Lin Miaomiao, yet she had always kept her distance and maintained an indifferent demeanor whenever they met.
Seeing that Lin Miaomiao was in a bad mood every day, Lu Wushuang tried to make her smile by performing sword dances, captivating all the female disciples in Solitary Moon City. Yet, Lin Miaomiao still appeared unfazed.
Now, with just a few words from Lin Feng, she was laughing uncontrollably. Lu Wushuang felt a surge of anger and frustration as he thought to himself, "What is so special about this Lin Feng? My junior sister is so infatuated with him that she can't forget him. But soon the Jiuzhou Gathering Conference will begin. I'll take my junior sister to Zhongzhou and let her see the young talents there. Then she'll understand just how unremarkable this person she can't stop thinking about really is."
With that thought in mind, Lu Wushuang couldn't help but snort coldly at Lin Feng.
