Chapter Thirty-One: The Misfortunate Quest for the Sword 0

Lin Miaomiao found that this deep pool was far too deep; no matter how she swam, she couldn't see the bottom. She swam and swam, estimating that ten hours had passed. 0

"Shen Yumen swam for three hours, Meng Kuo for five. And here I am, swimming for nearly ten hours without reaching the bottom. It's just a sword selection; does it really need to be this much of a test?" 0

Miaomiao continued to swim downward, grumbling to herself. At one point, she seriously considered just grabbing any sword and calling it a day. She didn't care much about the quality of the sword. 0

But then she recalled the fight between Lin Feng and Shen Yumen, where one crucial moment was lost due to the quality of the magical artifacts involved. So, Miaomiao patiently continued her descent, thinking that if she found a good sword, she could give it to Lin Feng. 0

Finally, after thirteen hours had passed, the water changed from white to black and then to dawn. Miaomiao finally emerged. 0

The rays of the Rising Sun illuminated the Sword Pool as Miaomiao surfaced from the water. Her complexion was exquisite and beautiful, like a lotus flower emerging from the water. As she gradually stood up and tossed her head back, her long black hair flicked water droplets into a graceful arc before settling against her back. 0

Miaomiao's purple dress was soaked through, clinging tightly to her body and revealing her graceful figure. 0

Lin Feng stared in a daze, Shen Yumen became entranced, and Meng Kuo couldn't tear his gaze away either. Suddenly, Lin Feng realized that this was his; they shouldn't be looking. 0

Without hesitation, Lin Feng took out his coarse robe and wrapped it around Miaomiao's upper body before she could fully emerge from the water, leaving only her legs exposed. 0

Shen Yumen couldn't help but sigh. It was only then that Meng Kuo realized his own impropriety and hurriedly turned his head away to maintain his composure. 0

Miaomiao held up the Purple Sword in her hand and said, "I swam to the bottom of the pool and saw a Black Sword that I really didn't like. I was thinking of bringing it to you when I turned around and saw this Purple Sword hovering above me." 0

"You know I like purple, so I tossed aside the Black Sword." At this point, Miaomiao looked at Lin Feng with a slightly embarrassed smile. 0

Everyone knew that the deeper you went, the higher the quality of the swords. Yet Miaomiao chose a sword of lower quality. 0

Lin Feng reached out his right hand and gently patted Miaomiao's head. "Silly girl, what's most important is that you like what belongs to you. The sword I want, I'll find on my own." 0

"That's settled then. I really like this sword. It feels like there's a connection between us," Miaomiao said with a sweet smile, revealing her dimples. 0

Elder Xu stared at the purple long sword for a long time before he finally spoke in a deep voice, "Zimo, it's a Rank Nine." 0

"What?" 0

"Rank Nine?" 0

Shen Yumen and Meng Kuo both showed expressions of shock. In contrast, Lin Feng remained calm; nothing that happened to Miaomiao surprised him anymore. 0

"Zimo has finally emerged." 0

Elder Xu murmured slowly, a look of nostalgia crossing his face. After a long pause, he continued, "That Black Sword of yours was once wielded by the Sword Saint, also a Rank Nine." 0

"You just tossed aside a sword used by the Sword Saint?" Shen Yumen suddenly felt like he might vomit blood, wanting to bang his head against the wall. 0

Meng Kuo nearly burst out with a few words as well but ultimately held back. 0

Elder Xu looked at Miaomiao with a kind and almost paternal gaze. "From now on, you will train with me." 0

"But I was assigned to the Grand Elder," Miaomiao replied honestly. 0

"What does he matter? Just ignore him," Elder Xu said before turning to Lin Feng. "What are you standing there for? Hurry up and get down there." 0

"Yes." 0

Lin Feng dared not disobey. As he jumped into the deep pool, he thought to himself: Truly, different people have different fates. 0

Lin Feng entered the deep pool, discovering that the tranquil green water held nothing. Not even a blade of grass could be found, let alone a sword. He swam for a full three hours and still found nothing. 0

Emerging from the water, he only revealed his head. 0

"Brother Lin, did you find any treasure swords?" Shen Yumen asked, thinking that since they had both been in the water for about the same amount of time, their chances of finding a sword would be similar. This thought comforted him somewhat. 0

Lin Feng replied, "Are there even swords here? I swam for three hours and didn't see a single blade of grass." 0

"That can't be true. There are swords everywhere," Shen Yumen insisted. 0

Miaomiao nodded in agreement, saying, "Yes, treasure swords are found all over the deep pool." 0

"That's strange; why can't I see anything?" 0

Lin Feng muttered to himself and then continued to dive back into the depths of the pool. He swam and swam, this time for ten hours, yet he still discovered nothing. 0

"Could it be that I'm really not suited for this place?" 0

Feeling frustrated, Lin Feng took out the Stone Pearl to illuminate his surroundings. He thought that perhaps by relying on the Stone Pearl to negate the power of rules, he might finally see a sword. However, he still saw nothing—absolutely nothing. 0

Once again, Lin Feng surfaced. 0

"Brother Lin, have you found any treasure swords?" Shen Yumen asked with concern. Based on the time elapsed, ten hours could have yielded an Eight-Tiered Sword. 0

Lin Feng shook his head and looked at Elder Xu. "Elder, is there anyone else like me who can't even fish out broken copper or iron?" 0

"There are no such useless people. Are you planning to come up now?" Elder Xu replied impatiently. 0

"I refuse to believe it." 0

Lin Feng entered the deep pool. This time, he was determined to go all the way, holding onto the belief that one must reach the Great Wall to be considered a true hero. So far, he had never swum to the bottom. 0

Lin Feng swam and swam, not knowing how much time had passed, only aware that it must have been quite a while, and he was starting to feel a bit tired. 0

Above the Sword Pool, Elder Xu waited for two full days without seeing Lin Feng emerge. He then said, "Everyone disperse and return to your respective pavilions." 0

Elder Xu then looked at Miaomiao and kindly said, "Miaomiao, bring your things to the shrine and find me." 0

"Yes." The three of them respectfully bowed to Elder Xu before leaving. 0

On the way, Shen Yumen said, "Miaomiao, I really envy you..." 0

Before Shen Yumen could finish his sentence, Miaomiao interrupted, "Call me Lin Miaomiao." 0

"Alright," Shen Yumen thought with a frown. Isn't that what Lin Feng calls you? Why can only he call you that? Then Shen Yumen continued, "I really envy you. That Elder Xu seems strange but must be extremely powerful. It seems he doesn't take disciples. We are all new disciples; we should help each other out and meet more often in the future." 0

"I don't have time." 0

Miaomiao replied curtly and walked in another direction. 0

"Seriously?" Shen Yumen made a fist gesture at Miaomiao's retreating figure. He looked at Meng Kuo beside him and said, "Do you think Lin Feng will drown after being in there for so long?" 0

"Idiot." Meng Kuo also walked off in another direction. 0

"Damn it," Shen Yumen glanced at where Meng Kuo had gone and then at Miaomiao's direction, unable to hold back his frustration. "What’s wrong with you two? Did I provoke you?" 0

"Three out of the four people are sick. Only Lin Feng is somewhat normal and can still talk." 0

Shen Yumen evaluated the four newcomers, unaware that among them, aside from Lin Feng, the three who were sick included himself. 0

Lin Feng continued to swim, and when he grew tired, he took out the Winged Serpent Meat prepared by Miaomiao to satisfy his hunger. As he delved deeper, the pressure in the water became immense, compressing his body and causing it to distort slightly. 0

Under such great pressure, it became difficult to continue diving. However, Lin Feng discovered a benefit: as he went deeper, the immense pressure allowed his body to quickly absorb the blood and flesh of the Winged Serpent he had consumed, eliminating the need for expulsion. 0

"This place is fantastic. In the future, if I eat beast meat and dive down here, I won't have to suffer from Spiritual Power Torment anymore. Plus, I won't fall into a state of madness and do things I don't even realize." 0

Lin Feng continued to dive, unknowingly swimming for fifteen minutes until he had consumed all the Winged Serpent Meat he had brought. He couldn't just give up halfway, so he pressed on deeper. 0

The pressure in the water was overwhelming; without the energy replenishment from the Winged Serpent Meat, Lin Feng could only rely on his Cultivation to resist it. After going deeper, when his Cultivation was insufficient, he sat down to meditate. Eight days later, his Cultivation reached the peak of the third level; whether he could break through to the fourth level depended solely on his willingness. 0

"I wonder how much my Physical Strength has increased and whether I'm ready for a breakthrough." 0

Lin Feng took out the Ancient Cauldron, preparing to test his strength. He knew that objects in water would weigh significantly less; this was just a way to pass the time. However, he found that the Ancient Cauldron was incredibly heavy, no different from its weight on land. 0

"This Ancient Cauldron is indeed extraordinary." 0

Lin Feng was delighted as he began lifting the massive cauldron. The immense pressure above him distorted his body but also provided him with a semblance of solid ground. 0

"One, two, three…" 0

Lin Feng lifted for quite some time, surpassing a thousand repetitions. He was slightly astonished and thought to himself that it seemed he had absorbed too much spiritual energy from the Winged Serpent. 0

In the past, during Spiritual Power Torment, he would find places to vent and expel most of his spiritual energy. Yet in this deep pool, under water pressure and with his body distorted, it instead facilitated his body's absorption of spiritual energy. 0

"Then what are we waiting for? Let's advance." 0

Lin Feng broke through the Foundation, entering the Fourth Level, and continued to cultivate for eighteen days. After reaching the peak of the Fourth Level, he dove deeper once again. 0

The deeper he went, the greater the water pressure became, making it nearly impossible to move forward. Lin Feng gritted his teeth and persevered, reaching the limit of his Foundation. Now he could not enhance his Foundation again, as his Physical Strength had not kept pace. 0

"Am I really going to turn back? Have I wasted nearly a month for nothing?" 0

Lin Feng decisively chose to continue. He plunged deeper into the water, the immense pressure contorting his body. With a series of cracking sounds, his bones began to break. 0

Ah... 0

Lin Feng let out a painful scream but did not turn back. 0

Since he had come this far, there was only one path left to take. 0
