Chapter Twenty-One: Spiritual Power Torment
However, the commotion did not last long. The remaining ten Golden Crocodiles would not let it go, charging in once again. The Azure Wind Rhinoceros was filled with regret, wondering why it hadn't attacked Lin Feng at the first opportunity, allowing him so much time to set up traps.
The battle continued, with heart-wrenching screams echoing throughout the forest. This battle lasted for more than two hours, and in the end, two of the remaining ten Golden Crocodiles were gored to death by the Horn, four were crushed underfoot, and four were rammed to death. Although the Azure Wind Rhinoceros achieved a hard-fought victory, it was left battered and bruised.
Looking over the Azure Wind Rhinoceros, there was hardly a patch of unscathed skin on its body. In some places, bones were exposed; in others, even the bones had been bitten off by the Golden Crocodiles.
This was a brutal slaughter, one that frequently occurred in this primal forest where survival of the fittest ruled—this was the Jungle Survival Rules.
Lin Feng felt no guilt or sympathy about it. In this forest, he considered himself one of the beasts; everyone’s goal was the same: to survive and grow stronger. Bloodshed was an inevitable path.
In the end, Lin Feng struck down the nearly lifeless Azure Wind Rhinoceros. He eagerly collected its Essence Blood and removed its Horn, preparing it as a weapon. Next, Lin Feng began to dismantle the flesh of the Azure Wind Rhinoceros and started a fire to roast meat.
For five whole hours, Lin Feng did nothing but eat. His appetite was astonishing; he managed to consume an entire Azure Wind Rhinoceros. He had only one thought: eat it all and grow stronger. In truth, he had no other choice. Several times during this ordeal, he felt sick of eating; just smelling the meat made him want to vomit as if his stomach might burst. Yet he did not stop; he kept eating. This was the only method he knew that suited his physical cultivation—the only way to grow stronger. The Inner Disciple Competition was about to begin; he had no time to waste.
Lin Feng did not realize that even among Barbarians of his age, none possessed such an appetite. To consume half an Azure Wind Rhinoceros was already remarkable.
After finishing off the entire Azure Wind Rhinoceros, the torment from the Spiritual Flame began. This time, it was a hundred times worse than before. Lin Feng felt as if his Internal Organs and Eight Extraordinary Meridians were being scorched by countless red-hot irons. His entire body turned red and swollen; it felt as if the Spiritual Flame was about to explode within him.
“Oh no, if this continues my body will explode! The spiritual power is too overwhelming; I can't absorb it quickly enough. I need to find a way to release it.”
Lin Feng gritted his teeth against the excruciating pain as he coughed up blood. His Internal Organs were beginning to sustain damage; if not addressed promptly, the consequences would be dire. Looking around for something to vent his frustration on, he finally remembered that lake.
“Damn it, here goes nothing.”
Lin Feng dashed toward the lake and plunged into its waters. The Golden Crocodiles would not let such a meal go unchallenged and rushed toward him. Lin Feng raised his fist and struck at one of the Golden Crocodiles, his punch piercing straight through its skull.
More and more Golden Crocodiles gathered around him until dozens surrounded him.
Lin Feng acted quickly again, delivering another punch that killed another Golden Crocodile. However, there were simply too many Golden Crocodiles around him; he couldn't keep up with them all. This was also why other fierce beasts dared not enter this place.
Endure...
A Golden Crocodile opened its massive jaws and lunged at Lin Feng's arm, intending to bite it off entirely. However, it soon realized that Lin Feng's arm was harder than its own teeth. The teeth scraped against Lin Feng's skin, creating sparks from the friction, yet his arm remained unscathed.
This was not due to Lin Feng's physical strength or toughness. At that moment, his body was filled with immense spiritual energy, which surged within him like gunpowder igniting, granting him a brief but terrifying power.
Lin Feng was in a frenzied state, unaware that he could punch through a Golden Crocodile or that his body was frighteningly tough. All he knew was that he needed to vent his frustrations.
With each punch he threw, he felt a bit of relief. Each time the Golden Crocodile bit him, he also felt a strange sense of comfort.
Roar...
The Golden Crocodile encountered an unprecedented foe and let out cries of despair. From a distance, a wild man with disheveled hair stood among a group of Golden Crocodiles, continuously swinging his fists. Around him lay the lifeless bodies of numerous crocodiles.
Blood stained the entire lake. The corpses of Golden Crocodiles were scattered everywhere. This brutal slaughter showed no signs of ending.
Many ferocious beasts were drawn to the horrific wails and approached the lake. They stood far away, watching cautiously, their eyes fixed on Lin Feng, revealing their fear.
In their eyes, Lin Feng was a monster.
Lin Miaomiao wandered through the forest, attracted by the enormous commotion. Following the sound, she arrived at the lake and saw Lin Feng standing in the water, surrounded by a pack of Golden Crocodiles.
"Lin Feng... Lin Feng..."
Lin Miaomiao called out anxiously but realized that Lin Feng couldn't hear her at all. Suppressing her fear, she finally decided to act. She unleashed her full power with the Angry Dragon Fist, sending waves of dominating Vital Energy forward to knock back the nearest Golden Crocodile.
Soon, Lin Miaomiao reached Lin Feng's side. She grabbed his arm and said urgently, "Lin Feng, we need to leave this place now."
To her surprise, Lin Feng not only ignored her but suddenly threw a punch at her. The blow came unexpectedly and too close for comfort, moving with astonishing speed.
Bang...
The punch landed squarely on Lin Miaomiao's right shoulder with a solid thud. Her entire body flew backward like a kite with its string cut, and with a crackling sound, her right arm dislocated.
Lin Miaomiao fell to the ground, crying out in pain. She clutched her uncontrollable right shoulder tightly, feeling as if it were about to be torn from her body.
Lin Miaomiao struggled to turn over and looked at Lin Feng, her face filled with anxiety and concern. "Lin Feng, are you okay? You can't be in trouble!"
Time seemed to stretch on indefinitely as Lin Feng gradually felt more comfortable. His mind slowly returned from the brink of madness. He gazed at the lake, where the bodies of Golden Crocodiles floated, staining the water a deep red. The overwhelming stench of blood made him feel nauseous.
"Did I do this?"
Lin Feng looked bewildered. His clothes had been torn to shreds by the Golden Crocodiles, and his body bore multiple wounds. He took a step toward the Lake Shore.
The ferocious beasts that had been watching him scattered in fear as he approached, disappearing in an instant.
"That was close. If I hadn't found something to vent my anger on, I might have gone insane or even self-destructed. Is this how barbarians train, risking their lives like this? They must have their own Martial Arts Techniques to help absorb spiritual energy."
As Lin Feng examined his body, he realized that his Physical Strength had reached an unprecedented level—he felt as if he possessed twenty thousand pounds of strength.
"Lin Feng... are you alright?" Lin Miaomiao awkwardly stood up, quietly watching him as she called out his name. She wanted to approach but hesitated.
At that moment, all her resentment toward Lin Feng faded away; she only wished for his safety, and everything else became unimportant.
Lin Feng noticed Miaomiao, seeing her left hand pressed against her right shoulder, her face pale. He hurried over and asked, "Miaomiao, what happened to your hand?"
"I'm fine. Are you okay?" Lin Miaomiao asked with increasing concern for him.
"I'm alright," Lin Feng replied. "Earlier, I ate some of the beast's flesh and was tormented by the Spiritual Power within it, but I've shaken it off now. Let me take a look at your arm."
Lin Feng examined Lin Miaomiao's injuries and after a moment said, "Miaomiao, it looks like your right shoulder was struck hard by something; the bone seems dislocated. Did you encounter a beast?"
"Yes," Lin Miaomiao nodded, thinking to herself, "Of course, I ran into this foolish 'beast' who hurt me like this without even realizing it."
"I'll help adjust it for you, but we need to find something sturdy to brace it afterward."
Lin Feng held Lin Miaomiao's arm with his right hand, gripping her delicate shoulder gently. He looked at her and said, "Miaomiao, this might hurt a bit; you need to bear with it."
"Okay." Lin Miaomiao turned her head away; she couldn't bear to watch and bit down hard on her teeth.
Lin Feng suddenly exerted force, resetting his dislocated shoulder. He then found a wooden stick, tore off a piece of his clothing, and fashioned it into strips to support Miaomiao's arm and elbow, binding them securely. Finally, Lin Feng gently bent Miaomiao's injured right arm and hung it around her neck with the cloth.
"How are you feeling now?" Lin Feng asked.
Lin Miaomiao nodded and replied, "Yes, it feels much better."
"That's good." After finishing, Lin Feng looked around as if searching for something.
Worried that Lin Feng might leave her behind again, Miaomiao said, "Lin Feng, you can't just abandon me again. If you do, I won't let you off easily. I'm really angry about how you left me before. If you do it again, I won't forgive you."
"Okay," Lin Feng replied with a smile. He looked at Miaomiao and noticed she had changed significantly. Although her clothes were somewhat tattered, they were very neat. Her face no longer bore a childish smile; instead, there was a calmness and determination about her.
This was the result of their trials in the jungle. More importantly, at that moment, Miaomiao radiated a pure aura. Though faint, Lin Feng could clearly sense it.
This aura felt somewhat similar to the Stone Pearl within him.
"You've made a breakthrough; you've improved quite a bit," Lin Feng said happily.
Miaomiao nodded and said, "I’ve realized that I’m very suited to this forest. The Vital Energy here is as rich as that in Solitary Moon City, but there’s another kind of aura here—indefinable yet palpable. I can feel its presence entering my body and changing me in some way."
After hearing this, Lin Feng pondered for a moment and said, "I don't quite understand your experience. But I suspect that aura is related to your terrifying potential. Miaomiao, have you encountered some kind of fortuitous event?"
Miaomiao thought seriously for a moment and replied, "I don’t think so. But I often have dreams. I dream of a gigantic dragon soaring through the night sky with a man standing on its back. The dragon gradually moves away from me, and I see tears in its eyes while the man on its back looks haggard as if he’s been severely injured."
"Related to dragons?" Lin Feng exclaimed in surprise. He suppressed his shock and continued, "Miaomiao, let’s not dwell on these questions for now. All mysteries will eventually reveal themselves."
"Lin Feng, every time I dream of the giant dragon, I feel particularly sad. When I wake up, I've shed many tears. Do you think that dragon knows me?"
Miaomiao rarely shared this dream with others. She had once told her father about it, but he dismissed it because dragons were merely legends; no one had ever seen one in reality.
"He must know you. Your potential is astonishing; I believe you carry a great secret within you," Lin Feng affirmed.
"So you believe me? Even about that dream?" Miaomiao asked.
Lin Feng nodded and said, "Of course, if I don't believe you, who else can I trust?"
"Miaomiao..." Miaomiao looked at Lin Feng quietly. After a while, she said, "What you just said touched me."
After that, Miaomiao giggled. She turned and walked into the forest.
"Miaomiao, what are you going to do?" Lin Feng asked.
"I'm going to find some spiritual herbs so my right hand can recover faster," Miaomiao replied.
Lin Feng accompanied Miaomiao into the forest to gather spiritual herbs and medicines. The fierce beasts watched Lin Feng with deep fear, not daring to approach. This was only the outskirts of the forest; although there weren't many high-level beasts, Lin Feng didn't dare to let his guard down and remained vigilant at all times.
After Miaomiao consumed the spiritual liquid, Lin Feng began preparing the Medicinal Bath.
