As she stepped down, she suddenly transformed back to her former self; however, her eyes were cold and devoid of life. She advanced steadily through the flames, which dimmed under her presence. The atmosphere in the hall turned eerie.
The woman flicked her tongue again, and another figure appeared on her tongue, magnified as it landed on the ground—another Yin Spirit. In no time at all, dozens of Yin Spirits stood within the hall. The flames above Wei Ning's head began to wane as black mist filled the entire chamber, suppressing the fire with an ominous aura.
The Jade Fetus's red tongue lashed out like a whip towards Wei Ning. He shouted loudly and focused his mind as he leaped backward, but his gaze remained locked onto the Jade Fetus, engaging in a perilous battle of wills without smoke or weapons. Yet that tongue moved like a red shadow, wrapping tightly around him. A dark aura began to rise from Wei Ning's face; clearly, he was being infected by the resentment emanating from the Jade Fetus. Meanwhile, the group of Evil Spirits began to close in on him—the situation was dire.
This struggle of mental power was a contest of souls; those with weaker abilities would be instantly soul-snatched and rendered mindless. Wei Ning found his hands bound and unable to form seals while the Nine-Headed Phoenix above him stood motionless as if in a daze. Suddenly, the Jade Fetus's eyes flashed with electricity; Wei Ning felt an icy chill enveloping him as if he had fallen into the Nine Nether Ice Cave. Trembling in fear, Qing quickly bowed her head repeatedly like pounding garlic and cried out, "Sister save me! Sister save me! Wei Ning! Help me! I want to go with you... Wuwuwu..." Her spirit shattered as she realized that if she fell into Jade Fetus's hands, she would likely have her brain sucked dry; despair seeped through every word she uttered.
Although Phoenix Maiden hated Qiqi for betraying her time and again, the bond of sisterhood was too deep to ignore. She turned her face away, unable to witness the scene.
Wei Ning, despite having some disdain for Qing, felt a pang of sympathy upon seeing her about to end her life in such a tragic manner. At that moment, Jade Fetus had already transmitted a venomous substance through its tongue, which had a calming effect. Qing's eyes drooped, her expression vacant, as if she were under the control of the God of Joy.
