"Master," Wei Ning said as he saw Wang Tuozi knock Lin Lingsu unconscious. Wang Tuozi waved his hand and said, "I have my methods. Quickly bring her over here. My Soul Borrowing and Corpse Reviving technique must be performed at the right time; otherwise, even a deity cannot save her."
Hearing this, Wei Ning hurriedly threw Lin Lingsu over his shoulder and followed Wang Tuozi into the dense forest. As they walked, Wang Tuozi explained, "The reason humans are smarter than animals is that humans possess Three Souls and Seven Spirits. With a soul, there is spirituality, while animals only have a corporeal essence without a soul, which limits their intelligence—except for these creatures." He pointed to the seven monkeys bound with Ink Binding Line behind him. "They possess one soul each, so they appear much smarter than ordinary beasts. Their essence is also closest to that of humans. Our plan to borrow souls and exchange corpses involves extracting this girl's essence and replacing it with that of the monkeys, tricking the Corpse Ghost into believing that the monkey's essence is hers—only this way can we save her."
Wei Ning nodded and asked, "So these seven monkeys won't..."

Wei Ning looked at the seven pitiful monkeys and felt a pang of guilt. "Master, can't we use another method? This seems too... too cruel."
Wang Tuozi replied coldly, "My skills are limited. If you want to save this girl, seek someone more capable."
Wei Ning was startled, fearing that Wang Tuozi would abandon Lin Lingsu out of anger. However, thinking about the tragic fate of the seven monkeys made him feel deeply troubled, so he fell silent.
Wang Tuozi led Wei Ning deeper into the forest until they suddenly came upon a clearing that looked as if it had been struck by lightning, with seven crystal-like pillars standing in the center.
"This is the Reverse Big Dipper Seven Star Formation," Wang Tuozi explained. "It is currently summer, and the Big Dipper points southward while I am facing north. The stars—Zhen, Xuan, Jiao, Quan, Yu, Kaiyang, Yao Guang—correspond to the vital energy points in the human realm. By reversing the Big Dipper formation here, we represent seven points of death energy. This area has been struck by lightning before and is saturated with death energy. I spent considerable effort locating this place with my compass; performing the soul borrowing and corpse reviving technique here will yield much better results. I will use Ink Crystals to seal off the death energy points and set up a Killing Formation that ensures death without life."
Wang Tuozi placed the unconscious Lin Lingsu in the center of the Seven Stars formation and then led the seven monkeys to stand before each Ink Crystal in turn. The monkeys obediently stood still in front of the crystals. Suddenly, Wang Tuozi raised his hands, and seven Soul Fixation needles flew from his grasp, perfectly piercing each monkey's big toe. The monkeys cried out in pain, causing Wei Ning to look away in distress.
Wang Tuozi took out seven Peace Bowls from his pack and placed them in front of the monkeys. He then retrieved talismans, ignited them in the wind, and burned them in the bowls.
Next, he took out Cinnabar and applied it to each monkey's forehead, back, chest cavity, palms, and soles—seven locations in total—then pressed a talisman onto each spot and tightly bound them with colorful cloth strips. Since the monkeys were immobilized by the Soul Fixation needles, they could not move.
Wang Tuozi suddenly said, "This formation is quite profound; you should leave now and call for me once I'm done."
"Wei Ning said, 'No, I want to watch here.'
Wang Tuozi thought for a moment and replied, 'Fine, you will have to learn it sooner or later. Watching now might help you learn faster later on.'
Wang Tuozi somehow found a rooster and made a quick cut on its neck with his fingernail. Blood gushed out immediately, startling the seven monkeys, who began screeching in terror, their eyes wide with fear.
Animals are much more sensitive to anger than humans. The act of killing a chicken to frighten the monkeys was intentional; the rooster is the most vigorous of animals. By killing the rooster in front of the monkeys, it made them feel the rooster's vitality draining away, instilling genuine fear in them.
Wang Tuozi filled a Peace Bowl with the chicken's blood and tossed the rooster aside. 'Take this back and simmer it,' he instructed.
He then pulled out a bamboo tube from his bundle and walked up to the monkeys. Suddenly, he turned to Wei Ning and asked, 'Do you really want to watch?'
Wei Ning nodded.
Wang Tuozi used a knife to carve a cross on the first monkey's spirit and poured the liquid from the bamboo tube into it. Suddenly, the monkey began to scream, jumping around wildly. Its cries echoed hauntingly in the night sky until something covered in blood burst forth from its spirit, writhing on the ground for a moment before collapsing.
Wei Ning felt her scalp tingle and her stomach churn. What had just emerged was the entire flesh of that monkey bursting out from its skin! The only thing left pinned there by Soul Fixation was a complete monkey skin, its empty eyelids staring vacantly into the distance.
It turned out that what Wang Tuozi had poured into the monkey was likely something like mercury, causing an unbearable itch that it could not relieve, ultimately resulting in its flesh violently separating from its skin.
A plume of black smoke slowly rose from the bloody monkey body, coiling around an Ink Crystal several times before finally merging into it.
Wei Ning had not expected Wang Tuozi's Dao Techniques to be so horrifyingly cruel. Seeing the tragic sight of the monkey, she rushed to embrace Wang Tuozi and cried out, 'Master, this is too cruel! Can't we find another way?'

Wei Ning said nothing, tears streaming down her face as she clung tightly to Wang Tuozi's legs, refusing to let go.
'Get off!' Wang Tuozi kicked Wei Ning away, but she ran back and clung to him once more.
Wang Tuozi's face turned pale with anger. 'Do you want to kill your master? I'm only going to kill a few beasts!'
Wei Ning continued to hold onto Wang Tuozi without a word, her tears flowing freely.
In a fit of rage, Wang Tuozi struck Wei Ning across the face, but she remained motionless. Finally, he delivered a sharp blow to the back of her neck, causing her to groan softly before losing consciousness.
Wang Tuozi said, 'Do you think I want to use this formation? It was you who begged me so desperately. It's just a few beasts; is it worth being this scared? Useless fool!'
Once done, as if he had wasted too much time already, he proceeded to pour mercury into the remaining six monkeys. After obtaining seven complete monkey skins, Wang Tuozi used Cinnabar to seal Lin Lingsu's eyes, ears, mouth, and nose. Then he inserted three Soul Fixation needles into specific points on Lin Lingsu's body. This was to ensure that Lin Lingsu's soul remained anchored three feet above his head and would not scatter when he released his spirit.
Wang Tuozi employed the Reverse Seven Stars formation to stabilize seven pulse points. This was meant to block the Yin-Yang Cycle and create a space similar to a barrier where external Yang energy could not enter and internal Evil Energy could not escape, ensuring the purity of Yin and Yang within this barrier. He feared that Lin Lingsu's Three Souls and Seven Spirits might scatter beyond recovery. However, within the Reverse Seven Stars formation, Lin Lingsu's Three Souls and Seven Spirits could only be locked inside the formation, preventing exposure to external Yang energy and avoiding the tragedy of Lin Lingsu's complete annihilation.
Wang Tuozi had his reasons for using monkey skins; they were the best vessels for souls. Ideally, human skin would be best. Some sinister practices involve using human skin to make lanterns or other items that trap souls inside them, preventing them from ever reincarnating. Since he couldn't obtain human skin, he had no choice but to use monkey skin instead. The more intact the monkey skin was, the better it would serve as a vessel for holding a soul. To release a soul safely, Wang Tuozi needed complete and flawless monkey skins to contain Lin Lingsu's spirit without fail."
