At that moment, Chu Donglin strode confidently to the stone platform at the center of the Meteorite Crater, standing before the confining White Pillar of Light.
His hand struck heavily against the imprisoning light column, and soon after, black energy corroded it, shattering the massive pillar into countless flying fragments.
Free from the terrifying pressure of the light column, Liu Mengying nearly collapsed forward. The girl she carried on her back had vacant eyes and followed her sister as they both tumbled down from the stone platform.
Like two clay figures that had lost their bones, they stood there.
Chu Donglin opened his arms wide. With his left hand, he embraced his sister, and with his right, he held his younger sister, preventing them from falling into an embarrassing situation.
The relief of escaping the oppressive light and the vibrations of colliding with something jolted the dazed girl awake.
She looked up to see a familiar smile and a familiar face. Stunned for a moment, she couldn't help but lower her head, revealing an expression of guilt.
"I'm sorry..."
Chu Donglin smiled gently and brushed her disheveled hair. "There's no need for that between us. I can't just stand by and watch you get killed by these monsters without doing anything."
The girl leaned against him, glancing at the surrounding zombies that were eyeing them hungrily. Bitterly, she said, "But you don't know what terrifying things they have prepared to deal with you."
"I don't know, but there are indeed some powerful things—some strong enough to kill me."
He smiled softly as he gently helped the two weak women to their feet, wanting to leave this place.

With one arm wrapped around her sister in front of her, Chu Donglin gazed through the pitch-black night sky towards the enormous light rising in the distance, murmuring, "...it would be this..."
At that moment, the perspective shifted upwards, looking down from above. Several dozen miles away from Jiang Hai, a fierce golden light suddenly erupted from a mountain forest.
The brightness of that light was so intense that even the night mist could not obscure it; it was visible from miles away.
In the night sky, the tail flame emitted by a flamethrower had already formed a massive light band in the clouds, resembling a comet's long tail. Accompanied by the metallic object piercing through the clouds, it left a long trail in the dark sky.
On the ground, the sinister cries belonging to Eldritch God Hastur echoed in Chu Donglin's ears for a long time, as if a giant claw gripped him tightly to the earth.
Meanwhile, far away, the light rising from the darkness had pierced through the clouds and was hurtling towards them with terrifying power capable of annihilating the land.

All the Zombies were running in panic.
The instinct of predators warned them that the crisis of extinction was imminent, and they desperately tried to flee from this place.
Standing among the Zombies was the Six-Headed Five-Tier Zombie, king of all Zombies. It stood coldly at the edge of the Meteorite Crater, watching Chu Donglin trapped on that stone platform by dark forces with a chilling smile.
Then it turned away without looking back.
In the night sky, that massive flame cutting through the clouds had already broken through and was about to descend.
In that moment, a blinding light shattered the earth, heralding the most terrifying weapon of the human technological era, a dreadful calamity said to have the power to destroy the world dozens of times over—nuclear weapons!
This was the ultimate trump card of the Evil God and Zombie, capable of annihilating everything.
"What... is that..."
A look of confusion gradually spread across Ban Guozhi's face.
Standing atop a tank, he gazed at the massive Missiles soaring in from the distant horizon. His expression shifted from confusion to recognition, and finally, he let out a terrified scream.
"A nuclear bomb! It's a nuclear bomb!"
Having once participated in desert nuclear tests, he was all too familiar with the aura and appearance of such a terrifying weapon, as well as the searing flames that pierced through the clouds.

Now, this weapon, which had been sealed away for decades since its construction, was finally unleashing its terrifying light after so many years, ready to demonstrate its power... and horror to the world.
"Run! Run! Everyone, run! Find cover!"
He roared in panic, almost frantically shouting at all his subordinates, forcing them to scatter and flee.
From the trajectory of that massive flame cutting through the sky, it would land just a few kilometers away!
At such a distance, they might be able to avoid the extreme heat from the central explosion and not be instantly vaporized. However, the ensuing nuclear radiation and shockwave would be enough to overturn tanks and extinguish all life!
He had to escape immediately!
Panic filled his mind.
He dashed toward the tall buildings by the street, desperately seeking refuge in the sturdy concrete structures.
Meanwhile, far away at the Survivor Base of Jiang Hai, a man named Chu Jianguo stood dazed on his balcony, staring at the massive fire that pierced through the clouds in the distance, a look of confusion etched on his face.
"What is that...?"
At the same time, many other humans who witnessed this spectacle looked up in astonishment, their eyes reflecting a mix of bewilderment as they gazed toward the western sky.
"Is it General Ban's weapon?"
In their eyes, there was a stunned and perplexed expression, unable to comprehend what this strange flame appearing in the night sky represented. They could only stand on the street, gazing blankly at the enormous fire that soared through the heavens, traveling dozens of kilometers like a comet streaking across the sky before crashing heavily onto the wasteland outside Jianghai City.
The ground trembled lightly.
Then, a brilliant light appeared.
Underneath the deep night sky, a dazzling brightness emerged.
In that moment, it felt as if everything on Earth had fallen into a pause; everything... fell silent.
The howling winds above ceased...
The incessant noise within the base vanished...
The sounds of people arguing and debating in the streets had vanished...
Time... seemed to have stopped...
A light appeared.
Before them, in the wilderness that was once shrouded in deep darkness, within the Meteorite Crater that had doomed all hope, a brilliant and beautiful light emerged.
That radiance, rising from the depths of despair, tore through the cold and pitch-black night.
The winds of Fury surged forth, recklessly whipping at people's hair and clothing. Yet, more terrifying than that was the wave of energy, like a raging tide over the sea, carrying a dreadful pressure capable of annihilating the earth, crashing down toward the nearby human city.
The power of humanity's doomsday weapon, the strategic nuclear arms from legends, revealed its fangs once again on this winter night, during the first year after the apocalypse had descended, sweeping through and tearing apart everything in sight with its terrifying force.
The dazzling light illuminated the ruins of the city under the night sky, casting light on everyone's silhouettes and brightening the desolate Jiang Hai dead city...
On top of a high building, Ban Guozhi suddenly turned around. Under the radiant glow, his face bore an expression of disbelief and...
A fear that pierced deep into his soul...
Boom—
The terrifying roar finally echoed in everyone's minds.
The howling winds from the Abyss of Death recklessly battered against humanity's steel city, reducing countless structures made of Rebar and concrete to ashes in an instant.
The intense heat, accompanied by blinding light, illuminated the area, evaporating glass and soil while distorting metal and earth.
Under the night sky, a scorching wind carried with it a mournful song of death, shocking all who heard it.

Recently, I feel that the chapters I've written have been exceptional, showcasing my skills at their peak. Since the beginning of Volume Three, "Cloudsea Nightfall," I have been meticulously planning, culminating in what can only be described as a grand battle.
The portrayal of the ensemble cast and the conflicts between characters have always been my forte. Unfortunately, time has been fleeting, and I haven't had the chance to develop more characters to enrich this climactic finale. However, perhaps what I have is already sufficient.
After all, I am writing web fiction; a solo performance by the protagonist is enough. There is no need for an epic display of grandeur.
I am someone who values beginnings and endings. Since I've started this journey, I yearn for it to reach a complete conclusion.
Although for various reasons this book cannot go too far and must conclude here in Jiang Hai, I will not hastily wrap things up just to finish. I have always sought breakthroughs, striving to end this book with the most thrilling climax and a magnificent stage.
Now, I have completed half of it. For the remaining half, I ask you all to accompany me until the end. The most splendid and exciting parts of this book will be fully revealed before you… in these final moments.
