Amidst the monster's cackling laughter, Chu Donglin wore a cold expression.
"I will naturally pick the fruit, but before that, you can tell me what you know. It's not too late to harvest after I've heard everything I need to."
The monster burst into laughter.
"Human child, I like you. Heh heh... Such unabashed killing intent is rare to see. It seems you have great confidence in yourself, daring to speak to me like this. Do you really think I can't do anything to you?"
Chu Donglin shook his head coldly, his pupils once again revealing a deep crimson hue.
"I'm just speaking the truth. Even if I don't want the fruit, would you believe me?"
He looked at the wretched monster and asked coldly, "Mordigian, answer me. If you truly are the so-called Evil God, a powerful Great Old One, a god of dread and coldness, why have you fallen to such a state? Aren't Evil Gods supposed to be immortal?"
"Hahaha... Immortal? That's just a general notion. Normally, we do indeed live forever, but no one is invulnerable to being killed by enemies. Nyarlathotep, that fellow is exceptionally terrifying even among us; isn't it quite normal for me to be killed by her?"
Amidst the monster's eerie laughter, Chu Donglin shook his head and continued to ask, "But if you are indeed the legendary Evil God, why is your power so weak? Not just you, but Acha... that is, Nyarlathotep as you call her. If she truly is one of the three Great Old Ones mentioned in legends, why is her power so feeble? Although she is stronger than most beings, she still falls far short of what an Evil God should be."
"That's merely Nyarlathotep's malicious scheme."
The monster twitched its tentacles, howling in pain and continuously screaming. "She was ambushed by Hastur and Cthulhu during her training and fled into the depths of the cosmos, plotting her revenge ever since. She followed Cthulhu's traces to Earth and took advantage of Cthulhu's slumber to devise a plan to consume him."
"Then she used Cthulhu's remains to set up fields of power across Earth that would counteract the strength of outer gods. All outer gods and Great Old Ones entering Earth would have their powers weakened... Of course, as one of them, her power was also significantly diminished."
"When I passed through the universe and stumbled upon this planet, I intended to explore Earth. Little did I expect to be ensnared by that fellow's scheme, leading to my current miserable state... Nyarlathotep truly is unbelievably malicious. She feared that I would leak her whereabouts after leaving and disrupt her plans, so she imprisoned and tortured me for many years. Now she has turned me into fruit, wanting to erase all traces of my existence... That fellow is truly wicked!"
The monster's grievance was heartfelt and filled with rage, yet as Chu Donglin looked at its trembling, convulsing flesh and its grotesque, repulsive exterior, he felt no sympathy whatsoever.
He shook his head, ignoring the monster's complaints. He continued to ask, "So what is the cause of this global disaster? Why has every living being turned into a Zombie? Were those viruses also released by Nyarlathotep?"
The monster let out a chilling cackle.
"Of course not... but she is certainly involved. Am I not here? She was ambushed and injured by Hastur and Cthulhu, and fled to Earth to recuperate... uh... Human Child, do you know who Hastur and Cthulhu are?"
Chu Donglin nodded, having heard of these two Evil Gods.
"Hastur, the King in Yellow, also known as the Nameless One or the Master of Deep Space Star Sea. One of the Great Old Ones, representing the element of Wind, and the arch-nemesis of Cthulhu, who represents Water."
"Cthulhu, also known as the Blazing One or the Dweller in Flame. Another one of the Great Old Ones, representing Fire, and a sworn enemy of those Great Old Ones and otherworldly gods that represent Earth, especially Nyarlathotep."
The monster cackled again, this time with an unsettling joy mixed with its painful wails and cries, making its laughter sound eerie.
"Hehehe... Hahahahaha... Hahahahaha... Human Child, it seems you are quite knowledgeable about our Great Old Ones. Given that you haven't received Nyarlathotep's memories, it appears that this knowledge is something you possess on your own? Did that fellow Nyarlathotep spread tales of the Great Old Ones in the human world?"
"Perhaps..."
Chu Donglin replied coldly, "These stories originated decades ago from a mysterious woman who narrated them as science fiction myths. If any of this is true, then that woman must be the Nyarlathotep you speak of, and Acha in my eyes."
"Hehehehe... That fellow Nyarlathotep is truly amusing; exposing her existence to such insignificant beings as humans. What could she possibly want?"
“Perhaps it’s just a simple wicked pleasure, after all, the Acha I know is not someone who can settle down.”
Chu Donglin looked down with indifference at the writhing monster at his feet, his expression cold. “Moreover, if those stories are true, then the Nuclear Weapons we humans take pride in might have been taught by her. In other words, we humans are wielding weapons crafted by the Evil God, capable of destroying ourselves dozens of times over.”
“Nuclear Weapons? What’s that? Heh heh… Human Child, you shouldn’t bother me with things I don’t know about. After all, I’ve been imprisoned by Nyarlathotep for so many years and only have a superficial understanding of you all; beyond that, I know nothing.”
“You don’t need to know.”
Chu Donglin stared coldly at him and continued to ask, “Reveal what you know… about the source of this Apocalyptic Disaster.”
“Heh heh… Alright, since you want to know… Didn’t I mention it before? Nyarlathotep was ambushed and severely injured by Hastur and Cthulhu, so she used Cthulhu’s corpse to carve a field on Earth that could weaken the powers of Outer Gods. All Outer Gods entering Earth would have their powers suppressed and become incredibly weak.”
“The purpose of this field was to deal with her two enemies, Hastur and Cthulhu.”
“Once she had everything planned out, she deliberately left traces of herself in the universe to lure Hastur and Cthulhu to Earth to hunt her down, and then use this Eldritch Field to suppress their powers, making it easier for her to set traps for them… just like she did with me.”
“However, she didn’t anticipate that when Hastur and Cthulhu descended upon Earth, they had already spread a virus that enslaved creatures on this planet. All the Great Old Ones knew that Nyarlathotep loved to communicate with lowly species from various planets, teaching them all sorts of knowledge.”
“On a planet filled with intelligent beings, only the stars knew what kind of transformations Nyarlathotep had wrought upon the reptiles here. Even among the Great Old Ones, there is no absolute strength or invulnerability. Cthulhu has been injured by human fishing boats before, and Hastur was once pecked by a raptor from some planet; who knows if Nyarlathotep would use the power of lowly creatures from this planet against them?”
“So upon descending, they first sowed seeds of destruction, turning this planet into a dead star—this was probably the idea of Hastur and Cthulhu, hahahaha… Anyway, it’s just what that fellow of Nyarlathotep speculated; that’s how she told me, and I’m telling you. Whether it’s true or not, you can figure it out for yourself.”
Chu Donglin looked coldly at the monster and asked.
"Is there anything else you want to say? About why you call me Nyarlathotep? Why do you think I am Nyarlathotep?"
"Hehe... you, my fellow, have consumed the essence of Nyarlathotep. Although your power is still pitifully weak, there is no doubt that you have become the heir of Nyarlathotep. I don't know why that fellow didn't directly take your body but chose death instead, but from this day forth, whether you acknowledge it or not, you have become the new Nyarlathotep, a continuation of that fellow's life."
Chu Donglin continued to ask, "So did Nyarlathotep tell you anything else? Since she has already guessed what Hastur and Cthulhu would do to Earth... does she have other intentions?"
"Hehe... I wouldn't know about that. After all, I'm just a prisoner tormented by her; how could she possibly tell me everything? The things I know are from when she dragged me out from the depths of Lalaye and bound me here like this. If you want to know more, you'll have to investigate on your own."
After a pause, the creature suddenly thought of something and laughed strangely.
"However, that fellow mentioned something by accident a few months ago when she transformed me like this... Hehe... Zombie Completion Plan. I only know the name; it seems to be an ultimate move against Hastur and Cthulhu. As for the specifics, I'm not clear on that."
"Zombie Completion Plan..."
Chu Donglin silently repeated the name and nodded. "I understand."
He looked at the creature before him and coldly asked, "Do you have anything else to say? Before you die."
The creature burst into laughter. "Death is merely another form of continuation in life. What do you need? Human child, just remember to consume my power afterward and don't lose too badly. After all, I've contributed to your growth; if you lose too badly, I'll have no face left... Hahahahaha..." (To be continued...)
