No one knows what happened inside the Humvee. 0

Four modified military Humvees roared through the city, their mounted Light Machine Guns occasionally unleashing a barrage that took down or repelled the Mutated Zombies lurking in the dark corners, waiting to ambush. 0

The more powerful Second-Stage Zombies remained hidden in their lairs, coldly watching the four military vehicles parade down the street, yet they dared not approach, fearing the power of the sunlight. 0

Amidst the protection of these Humvees, two Medium Trucks safely traveled in the middle of the convoy. 0

These Medium Trucks were not large and their somewhat clumsy bodies prevented them from taking the lead, forcing them to hide behind the protection of the military vehicles. 0

The zombies in the city continued to roar and charge forward, only to be torn apart by bullets. Countless severed arms and splattered blood littered the ground as these mangled corpses were ultimately crushed under the weight of the Humvees, completely losing their vitality. 0

The convoy was not moving quickly; however, it left behind a trail of severed limbs like a scene from a slaughterhouse. 0

Many Mutated Zombies roared in frustration, but this area was not the City Center District, and the density of zombies was low. Lacking the cover of a Zombie Sea, these first-stage Mutated Zombies could not get close to the convoy. 0

They lurked in the shadows, swiftly following the convoy's path—neither approaching nor distancing themselves—waiting for an opportunity to strike. 0

However, without intervention from the Second-Stage Zombies, these first-stage Mutated Zombies posed little threat to the safety of the convoy. The group of humans largely regarded those trailing Mutated Zombies with disdain and indifference, feeling no significant anxiety. 0

On top of a building on either side of the street, Chu Donglin stood with Xue and Shishi. They quietly observed the convoy of four military Humvees and two Medium Trucks passing below. 0

A massive White Wolf peeked out from behind them, seemingly sharing their view of the street below—though with its intelligence, it might not fully grasp Chu Donglin's thoughts. 0

Watching the convoy pass through the streets below, Chu Donglin's expression turned somber. 0

The fully armed Humvees were brazenly navigating through the Zombie Sea with weapons that humanity relied upon for strength. 0

Faced with dozens of Light Machine Guns' deterrent firepower, even the strongest Mutated Zombies had no choice but to retreat in fear. 0

Such concentrated firepower would send even Second-Stage Zombies fleeing if confronted directly. 0

However, humanity's combat capability did not surprise Chu Donglin; he knew these weapons indeed possessed such power. 0

What puzzled Chu Donglin was not where these humans had found their firearms, but rather their origins and intentions. 0

If they were merely here to gather food for the Survivor Base, they could easily collect it from the more remote districts instead of coming to this area near the city center. 0

The aggressive demeanor of this group clearly indicated that they had ulterior motives. 0

In a city teeming with Zombies, what could possibly be worth their pursuit? 0

A sense of unease inexplicably settled in Chu Donglin's heart. 0

He could not allow these humans to leave unchecked. 0

Squatting down, he adjusted the scarves around Shishi and Xue, then led the two away from the scene. 0

As for White Wolf, he had been dispatched to track the convoy and was instructed to notify him immediately if anything unusual occurred. 0

Chu Donglin's urgent goal now was to help Shishi and Xue evolve to the Third Stage. With his current strength, he could effortlessly crush Second Stage Zombies. 0

Once Xue, Shishi, and even White Wolf evolved to the Third Stage, Chu Donglin would be able to return to Wangcheng with them to find Chu Father and Mother Chu. 0

The city center, once a place where Chu Donglin could hide from Zombies, was now densely populated with them. The number of Mutated Zombies was alarmingly high, capable of launching attacks on Second Stage Zombies, and the sounds of battle would easily attract other Second Stage Zombies for a chaotic melee. 0

However, Chu Donglin no longer had such concerns. With his Third Stage power, he could roam freely in this city without any Zombie posing a threat to him. 0

As he brought Shishi and Xue into the Zombie-infested city center and unleashed the formidable aura of a Third Stage Zombie, the surrounding Zombies began to howl in fear, instinctively wary of him. 0

Even the Second Stage Zombies hiding between the buildings seemed restless. 0

They sensed Chu Donglin's hostility, but in the strict hierarchy of the Zombie world, faced with the might of a Third Stage Zombie, none dared to harbor thoughts of resistance. 0

Unlike the mindless Ordinary Zombies and First Stage Zombies, Second Stage Zombies had awakened some intelligence; at least they understood the value of their own lives. 0

The once-feared dominance of the Second-Stage Zombies had become a distant memory; it was no longer possible to force them into a corner through sheer intimidation. Even if they dared not resist, they would at least attempt to flee. 0

However, under the bright midday sun, what was warm and comforting for humans had turned into a prison for the Second-Stage Zombies, binding them to their respective lairs. 0

“Roar!!!” 0

Amidst the furious and desperate roars, in the building where Chu Donglin was headed, the Zombie chosen as his first target let out a piercing cry, its blood-red eyes filled with despair and rage. 0

It was a massive creature, a grotesque figure resembling a Meat Mountain, with an unhealthily sickly green exterior that sent chills down one’s spine. 0

Clearly, this Zombie had likely been a hefty individual in life, but there was no doubt that no normal human could ever reach such an extreme size. 0

Trailing behind it were two long tails covered in tough Scales, twitching restlessly like the poisonous stinger of a scorpion. 0

It roared and howled at Chu Donglin, its cries eventually morphing into desperate pleas for mercy. 0

Yet, Chu Donglin walked past with an indifferent expression, showing not a hint of pity or sympathy. 0

With a wave of his right hand, just as the Zombie attempted to escape with a roar, the concrete floor beneath its feet suddenly cracked open. Dozens of Rebars shot up from below, piercing through the Zombie's feet and pinning it in place. 0

In an instant, a creature resembling a hedgehog was left at the entrance of the building. Its massive body, akin to a Meat Mountain, was impaled by countless Rebars. 0

Sickly green blood flowed from the wounds of the Zombie—not the usual dark red but an eerie shade of green. 0

Moreover, when this blood splattered onto the Rebars and the concrete floor, it emitted hissing sounds as if it possessed some terrifying corrosive properties. 0

“Roar!” 0

Pinned at the entrance, this Zombie screamed in rage, struggling desperately as it attempted to attack Chu Donglin. 0

Even though its body was riddled with holes—its insides likely punctured like a honeycomb—the Zombie's formidable vitality allowed it to continue thrashing and roaring. 0

Its dark red eyes widened as Chu Donglin approached. Suddenly, it opened its gaping maw and spewed forth a stream of green bile. 0

However, as the corrosive bile approached Chu Donglin, it seemed to hit an invisible barrier, causing the bile to flow back and splatter directly onto the Zombie's face. 0

"Roar!!!" 0

The moment the green bile splashed onto its skin, even the Zombie couldn't help but let out a horrific howl. 0

Visibly, the Zombie's sickly green skin began to peel away rapidly, revealing the muscle tissue and a network of blood vessels beneath. 0

The scene was reminiscent of being vivisected, evoking a chilling sense of horror. 0

Amidst the Zombie's roar, a sharp Machete flew out from behind Chu Donglin and sliced down, decapitating the Zombie. 0

Splash— 0

Sickly green blood gushed forth like a fountain. 0

Yet when those grotesque droplets splattered towards Chu Donglin, they were stopped by an invisible barrier. 0

However, the Machete that had slain the Zombie was not so fortunate; its metallic blade became pitted with corrosive green blood. 0

At that moment, the rebars that had pierced the Zombie's body were completely corroded and clattered to the ground in pieces. 0

Thud— 0

With a muffled sound, the headless corpse of the Fat Zombie fell heavily to the floor, lacking the support of the rebars. 0

Its rolling head was cleaved open by Chu Donglin. Due to his wariness of the corrosive blood, he did not reach out to touch it directly. 0

Of course, he didn't need to. 0

With a thought, his telekinetic Ability controlled the Zombie's Evolution Crystal and lifted it into the air. 0

The living Zombie had a layer of Biological Magnetic Field that repelled Chu Donglin's Mental Power, but the dead one did not. 0

Wiping the crystal clean, Chu Donglin felt a bit helpless. 0

It was clearly a one-sided crushing battle, yet he still managed to destroy a knife, which was somewhat frustrating. 0

The abilities of High-Level Zombies were just too disgusting; the various superpowers that emerged could easily catch one off guard. Although the vast majority of Zombies had rather useless abilities, occasionally encountering a powerful one could be quite a headache. 0

Calling Xue and Shishi over, Chu Donglin thought for a moment and decided to give the Evolution Crystal to Shishi first. 0

Xue's ability to turn Shishi into a Zombie could only grant her the identity of a Mutated Zombie. However, at the beginning, Shishi was only at Level 0—essentially the same strength as an Ordinary Zombie commonly seen on the streets, not much different from a newly awakened Zombie. 0

Nevertheless, in order to have some energy crystals on hand for timely replenishment when injured, Chu Donglin had been storing some Energy Crystals from First-Stage Zombies at home. He planned to consume these crystals to regain energy whenever he got hurt. 0

Although Energy Crystals from First-Stage Zombies couldn't help Chu Donglin evolve, they could still aid in healing his wounds more quickly. 0

After turning Shishi into a Zombie, Xue made Shishi consume all the Energy Crystals they had at home, but it only allowed Shishi to barely evolve to the Second Stage. 0

Currently, the girl was the weakest among the three. Chu Donglin intended to quickly enhance Shishi's power and then let her evolve alongside Xue. 0

After all, advancing from Second Stage to Zombie would take fifteen days—a very long time. Chu Donglin hoped that Shishi and Xue could evolve together. (To be continued...) 0
