When Chu Donglin returned home, he felt a lingering gaze filled with resentment fixed upon him. 0

Looking up, he saw a girl sitting in the corner, hugging her knees. Her face bore the expression of an abandoned woman, her cute features scrunched up in displeasure. 0

Meanwhile, a girl named Xue was sitting on the sofa, awkwardly assembling a toy Block. 0

However, this child’s game seemed too difficult for her, as her stiff movements resembled those of a poorly made robot. 0

Combined with her cautious expression and cold gaze, it somehow struck one as amusing... and adorable. 0

"I'm back!" 0

Chu Donglin opened his arms and laughed heartily, waiting for the girl or young woman to leap into his embrace. 0

But there was no response. 0

In the living room, the girl continued to carefully piece together her Block, not even lifting her head. 0

In the corner, Shishi remained curled up, still hugging her knees like an abandoned woman, continuing to look at Chu Donglin with that resentful gaze. 0

"Ahem..." 0

Chu Donglin cleared his throat and repeated his earlier gesture, opening his arms and laughing brightly once more. 0

"I'm back!" 0

Still no reaction. 0

"Alright, alright, you win." 0

Chu Donglin's shoulders slumped in resignation as he spread his hands. "So, what exactly happened? Why is everyone acting like a jilted bride?" 0

He turned to the girl in the corner. "Shishi, you come here. What’s going on?" 0

The girl huffed, pouting and turning her head away without answering. 0

"Fine, then. Xue, you tell me what happened." 0

The girl who was stacking blocks paused, looked up at Chu Donglin with a cold gaze, opened her mouth, and stammered, "Shishi... doesn’t... let..." 0

"Oh, I see. You mean Shishi won’t let you talk to me?" 0

The girl nodded and lowered her head to continue building her blocks. 0

"Why not? Did I offend this girl again? Why won’t she let you talk to me?" 0

The girl lifted her head and glanced at him. "You... she... let... very... hurt..." 0

"I hurt her? What kind of joke is that? I just went out to meet a friend; what’s so upsetting about that?" 0

Chu Donglin shook his head in disbelief and crouched down in front of the girl, looking into her eyes. "Come on, Shishi, what really happened?" 0

"Hmph!" 0

The girl huffed again and turned her head away from Chu Donglin. 0

"What happened? How would I know if you don't tell me?" 0

Holding the girl's head, he forced her to turn and look at him. "What on earth is going on? My princess, wasn't everything fine before I left?" 0

The girl frowned at him and asked, "Dad, did you go to meet a friend?" 0

"Yes, that's right. Didn't I tell you? Liu Xiner, an old friend of mine whom I consider like a sister." 0

"Is she really just a sister?" 0

"Isn't that obvious? What else could she be?" 0

"If she's not a sister, then she must be a Sister-in-law." 0

Chu Donglin was taken aback. "How do you know that?" 0

"See! Dad, you're admitting it without realizing!" 0

The girl suddenly jumped up, indignantly shouting as if she had caught him in a lie. 0

"Dad clearly went to see an old flame! That Xing'er’s sister was there too, right? And what about meeting friends... Hmph! You're such a big liar! Dad is such a big liar!" 0

"What old flame? Where are you getting these ridiculous ideas?" 0

Chu Donglin was both amused and exasperated. "Xing'er’s sister was indeed my girlfriend back then, and she called me brother-in-law. But I broke up with her long ago. Even if her sister is still alive, I wouldn’t even know about it. Even if she were alive, she’s no longer in Wocheng. How could I go looking for her?" 0

The girl looked at Chu Donglin suspiciously. "Dad, is all of this really true?" 0

"Of course it's true. If you don't believe me, ask Snow. Xing'er's sister left Wocheng a long time ago for Jiang Hai, and now it's quite a long way from here. How can I possibly see her?" 0

Chu Donglin picked up the girl and carried Shishi to the sofa in the living room. 0

"So, you're just being paranoid and overthinking things. Can't you give me a little trust?" 0

"I... I..." 0

Shishi was somewhat at a loss for words and quickly changed the subject, looking at Snow, who was busy building with blocks. "Snow Sister, is what Dad said true?" 0

The girl didn't respond. 0

"Snow Sister? Snow Sister?" 0

Shishi called out a couple more times before the girl reluctantly lifted her head from the pile of blocks and looked over. 0

There was a hint of confusion in her eyes, as if she was wondering why Shishi had suddenly interrupted her. 0

"Snow Sister, is what Dad said true?" 0

"Is... it... true?" 0

The girl tilted her head in thought and asked, "What... do you mean...?" 0

"..." Had she not heard the previous conversation at all? 0

Shishi helplessly repeated the question, "Dad's sister Xing'er isn't in Wocheng; she's far away in Jiang Hai... right?" 0

“Xing'er’s… sister?” 0

Snow repeated the title in a daze, tilting her head as she thought for a moment before shaking it. “Can’t… remember…” 0

“Snow Sister, you remember Xing'er, but not her sister?” Shishi asked, puzzled. “That can’t be right. Logically, you should have a clearer memory of her sister. How could you forget?” 0

The girl tilted her head again, pondering for a while before clumsily gesturing to her own head and stammering. 0

“There’s… no… lie… my head… is very… confused, many… things… I can’t… remember…” 0

“Snow Sister, you’re saying there’s no lie, just that your head is confused and you can’t remember many things?” 0

“Yes… yes…” 0

The girl nodded, covering her head with a pained expression. “It hurts… it’s very painful… I don’t want to…” 0

“Are you saying that thinking back on past events makes your head hurt, so you don’t want to recall them anymore?” 0

“Yes… it hurts… I don’t want to… so I don’t know…” 0

She stammered, and when she noticed that Shishi had stopped asking questions after a while, she lowered her head to look at the blocks in front of her. 0

It was clear that she liked these blocks, but even for someone skilled, assembling such difficult blocks wasn’t easy, let alone for a girl with stiff and awkward movements. 0

She clumsily built for a while, and after painstakingly stacking three layers of blocks, they suddenly collapsed with a loud crash. 0

The girl stared blankly at the fallen blocks in front of her, feeling somewhat at a loss. 0

The adorable yet somewhat foolish expression was both cute and inexplicably bittersweet. 0

Shishi gently wrapped her arms around Chu Donglin, burying her head in his embrace. 0

"Daddy..." 0

"Yes?" 0

"Does Snow Sister really not remember anything from before?" 0

"Well... for now, it seems that way," Chu Donglin replied, a hint of uncertainty in his voice. "Maybe she will remember in the future." 0

"Is that so..." 0

The girl's grip tightened, her gaze filled with sadness. "How pitiful..." 0
