Shishi was originally a kind and cheerful girl, truly romantic and lively, beloved by everyone in the Survivor team.
She was obedient and considerate, never adding any burden to the adults, often helping everyone instead.
Such a kind girl should have received the most loving care. However, the girl before them had hollow eyes, devoid of spirit, having closed off her heart, leaving them to wonder what terrible treatment she had endured.
Chu Donglin gritted his teeth, wishing he could rush in and take down the two culprits immediately.
But he held back, observing whether this group of Survivors truly needed to be saved.
It was evident from their positioning in the hall that Shishi was isolated and ostracized by those Survivors.
Chu Donglin was eager to know why they had turned against Shishi. Just a while ago, these fellows had enjoyed playing with her, acting like warm-hearted Big Brothers and Sisters.
He wanted to understand what had happened that caused these “kind Big Brothers and Sisters” to suddenly tear off their masks and collectively ostracize Shishi.
In such a situation, even if they were unable to stop the two Thugs from committing their heinous acts, shouldn’t they at least show their concern and warmth to the girl who had just lost her father? Shouldn’t they help ease her pain?
Chu Donglin’s wait did not last long.
After about ten minutes, when the two Thugs finished their last round of cards, one of them—a fellow with a scarred face—stood up.
“Bring me my whip.”
The Scarred Man stretched lazily as he stood up from the sofa. Adjusting his crooked belt, he turned to the girl beside him, who was only wearing underwear. “Damn it, I lost again. This is really frustrating.”
The girl stiffened, timidly retrieving a black whip from under the sofa and handing it to the Scarred Man.
With a sharp crack, she cried out in agony as she clutched her chest where the whip had struck her, tumbling down from the sofa.
The Scarred Man flicked the whip in his hand, casting an annoyed glance at the girl who was dodging and weaving.
"What are you hiding for? It's your honor that I'm venting my frustration on you after losing. You think you can just hide from me? Where were you when I needed you?"
Another thug, clearly accustomed to his companion's twisted sense of humor, didn't intervene. Instead, he stretched lazily, lit a cigarette, and settled back on the sofa to watch the show.
"Because when you hit her, she only feels pain. It's such a simple truth, can't you understand that?"
The Scarred Man snorted and lashed the whip again across the girl's back. A sharp crack echoed as a faint red bruise appeared on her fair skin.
"What are you hiding for? Get over here! Keep hiding, and I swear I'll take you out!"
The girl wore a sorrowful expression but dared not defy the Scarred Man's command, obediently moving closer.
Just as the Scarred Man prepared to strike again, a young man among the Survivors rushed out in panic, bowing and scraping as he spoke.
"Brother Li! Brother Li, please show mercy! She's still so delicate; with your strength, if you accidentally hurt or kill her, how will you deal with her later? She won't be happy either!"
The Scarred Man looked at this brave fellow with a cold smirk.
"Then why don't you take her place? She's your girlfriend, right? Now's your chance to show off your love. You can't take my punishment for her, but surely you can take a beating for her?"
A flicker of humiliation crossed the young man's face, but he dared not confront the Scarred Man. Cautiously, he pointed to the lonely girl in the corner of the hall and smiled ingratiatingly.
"Have you forgotten about her? You can hit her; she's the easiest target. It doesn't matter if a child gets hurt; she's just a burden and brings us no benefit at all."
Outside, Chu Donglin froze in place, filled with rage and disbelief as he stared at the smirking young man, feeling as if he had fallen into an ice pit.
He had considered many possibilities, but he never expected it to be for this reason! Those beasts!
"Just her? Even beating her would get boring, right? Get me someone else."
The Scarred Man pointed at someone among the Survivors. "You, come out and lie down obediently."
The Survivor shook his head desperately, trembling with fear. "No, no, no, Brother Li! I can't do it! I still need to go out later to collect food for you. If I get hurt now, I definitely won't be able to come back, and you'll lose a subordinate."
"Then how about you?!" The Scarred Man pointed at another person.
"No way! Brother Li, I also need to go out to collect food!"
"Fine, then it's you."
"Brother Li, I... I'm the one on watch at night. I... I have a mission."
"Alright, I'll pick another one. It's you... Zizi, stop looking; you're the one I'm talking about."
"Uh... me? Wuwu... Brother Li, you can't do this! I've always been loyal to you! I even gave my girlfriend to you! I've been so loyal; please spare me."
"Damn! How can you still bring that up? That bitch almost bit off my precious thing! If it weren't for the fact that you've been somewhat loyal, I would have taken you and that bitch out already. How dare you mention her? Hurry up, stop wasting time and come over here!"
Inside, Chu Donglin could no longer bear to listen.
He climbed over the wall, trembling all over like an Ordinary Zombie, unable to steady his steps. A single phrase echoed in his mind...
"Beat... cough cough... beat... beat..."
Chu Donglin stood at the entrance of the district, watching the mindless Zombies wandering aimlessly on the street, a cold smile creeping across his face. "Very good, very good! Since you don't consider yourselves human, then I have no reason to treat you as such!"
With a mental link, he unhesitatingly spread his influence. In an instant, the Zombies wandering nearby froze in place and instinctively turned to look at him. Their hollow, ashen eyes lacked any trace of life.
If a Normal Human were to be stared at by over a hundred such eyes, they would have been terrified beyond belief.
But Chu Donglin merely sneered, unafraid. He pushed open the district's gate and used his Mental Power to guide the group of Zombies into the area, surrounding the Two-Story Building.
One wave after another… Each time he controlled over a hundred Zombies to approach, Chu Donglin would release his hold, allowing them to roam freely.
Then he dashed outside the district again, using his Mental Power to control another group of Zombies to surge toward that area.
Ten minutes later, what had once been a sparsely populated district was now packed with Zombies.
The dense mass of Zombies surrounded the villa, crowding together and emitting low growls. A few unfortunate ones, unable to find space, even ended up in the district's artificial lake, struggling in the water and splashing everywhere.
Having nearly drained all the wandering Zombies from the two nearby streets, Chu Donglin stood among them, coldly gazing at the two-story villa ahead with a sinister expression.
Now let's see how you escape!
