The challenge from Zhengyang?
My interest was immediately piqued.
If I could sever his head, perhaps the turmoil within me would find its peace in an instant!
Without hesitation, I tore open the envelope.
"Brother, let us part ways with righteousness; a battle of life and death awaits. Three days hence, at the summit of Huashan, I shall await you."
That was all the letter contained.
The handwriting was indeed Zhengyang's—fresh and elegant, written in blood, the force behind it palpable. Through the strokes, I could sense a resolute determination to kill.
Choosing Huashan as the location was truly a meticulous decision.
Since ancient times, Huashan has been a place for martial artists to duel. According to the rules of the Jianghu, in this battle, life and death are determined by fate, and revenge is not permitted!
"Hahahahaha."
Unable to contain my emotions, I burst into laughter and tore the letter to shreds: "Zhengyang, have you finally decided to step forward? In three days, I shall accept your invitation and ascend Huashan to take your head!"
"Child, I hope you reconsider this matter carefully!"
At that moment, Qingfengzi stood up and grasped my arm, speaking solemnly: "The timing of this challenge is truly peculiar. After much thought, it seems likely that your recent strikes have pushed them to their limits. They cannot endure such losses any longer and wish to resolve matters swiftly through this method. Otherwise, if you continue your guerrilla tactics, it would be akin to a dull knife cutting flesh—when would it ever end? I suspect this time will not be simple; three days from now on Huashan, danger may abound! They might even set an ambush there, waiting for you to fall into their trap. Consider this: Zhengyang is now the Leader of the Dao Alliance's Outer Sect; his status is far from what it used to be. How could he possibly engage in a battle that guarantees his death? He must know about your recent achievements; he should realize that you are no longer the Ge Family youth he could easily manipulate a year ago but someone who can carve out a place among the strong. He is no longer his match! Yet he still sends you a challenge—doesn't that seem unrealistic?"
I raised an eyebrow; Qingfengzi's words indeed served as a reminder. For a moment, I suppressed my emotions and hesitated before slowly sitting down across from him: "So what do you mean?"
"Power!"
Qingfengzi sighed softly and continued: "Your feud with Zhengyang is no longer a secret. I'm aware of your obsession with him; I'm just afraid that if you learn about his challenge through other channels, you might walk right into a trap! Of course, I'm not trying to stop you from seeking revenge; I just urge caution! Here’s what we’ll do: we will closely monitor the situation at Huashan during this time. On the day of the duel, if anyone is lying in wait around your battleground with Zhengyang, you must withdraw immediately. If there’s no one there, then you can settle things with him!"
"Mm."
I thought for a moment and finally nodded in agreement. After a brief silence, I asked, "What’s the situation with the Sun and Moon Alliance? Have those reclusive old-timers made any moves? Are there any other people coming after me?"
"So far, no. Master hasn’t found any of their personnel yet."
Qingfengzi continued, "The actions from the Inner Sect have significantly decreased. It’s been a long time since we received any clear intelligence. They probably realized they might be under surveillance."
If the Inner Sect hasn’t sent anyone out, it means there are only about thirty Master-Level Experts left!
If that’s the case, even if I were surrounded by their thirty Master-Level Experts during my trip to Mount Hua, I wouldn’t be without the strength to fight back!
After a pause, Qingfengzi added, "While you were busy fighting with the Sun and Moon Alliance members, our organization discovered that Big Mouth Lee is still alive. We’ve got some leads now."
With that, Qingfengzi took out a photo from his clothing and handed it to me. "This was taken recently at Guangzhou Dock. It was a candid shot; the photographer thought the subject's attire was peculiar and their behavior strange, so they posted it in their social circle. Our network intelligence personnel found it and after comparison, we’re eighty percent sure that Big Mouth Lee was spotted at Guangzhou Dock!"
Hearing that Big Mouth Lee was still alive made my ears perk up. Ever since he infiltrated the Sun and Moon Alliance last time, he had gone missing. Now, hearing this unexpected news, I quickly grabbed the photo to take a look. The moment I did, my heart raced!
In the photo, there were five people, and only one of them wasn’t concealing their face. That person’s appearance was all too familiar—it was Big Mouth Lee.
Walking alongside Big Mouth Lee were two individuals dressed in loose black robes; they were clearly members of the Sun and Moon Alliance.
From their posture and demeanor, it was evident that Big Mouth Lee wasn’t being held captive by the Sun and Moon Alliance. His expression seemed completely natural, showing no signs of distress. He appeared relaxed as if he were with old friends he hadn’t seen in years.
What on earth is going on? How did Big Mouth Lee end up mingling with the Sun and Moon Alliance?
" Big Mouth Lee isn’t even one of your people," Qingfengzi sighed lightly.
The situation was becoming increasingly bizarre.
"Regardless of anything else, Big Mouth Lee is still alive. As for whether he has betrayed me or not, it’s hard to say—he was originally part of the Sun and Moon Alliance. Perhaps some old acquaintances preserved him or Zhengyang protected him; it’s hard to tell!"
Qingfengzi said slowly, "I will continue to investigate their whereabouts. I’ll let you know as soon as I have any news. For now, just rest easy and prepare fully for the big show ahead!"
With that, Qingfengzi suggested we go rest.
For the next three days, I remained hidden in a secluded place, resting in tranquility, undisturbed by anyone.
During this time, I received another challenge letter from Zhengyang!
This time, Zhengyang emphasized that it was a private matter between us; he would not send anyone to ambush me.
But could I still trust him?
I made all the necessary preparations without missing a beat. And so, after waiting for three days, the day of the decisive battle finally arrived.
That morning, Qingfengzi informed me that no suspicious individuals had been spotted around Mount Huashan, and it was safe to meet Zhengyang. I set off towards Mount Huashan.
This time, Lu Jianguo and Qingfengzi did not accompany me. They chose to remain hidden in the shadows, ready to support me at any moment. I was truly going alone to this meeting!
By the time I reached Mount Huashan, it was already noon. A heavy snow had begun to fall, blanketing the landscape in white.
Upon arriving, I got out of the vehicle and breathed in the cold air. It calmed me significantly as I strode purposefully towards the agreed-upon meeting spot.
Zhengyang, I have arrived.
