City A Xu Yi's home 9:30 in the morning
"Mom, I'm going out for a bit and will be back later," Xu Yi said as he put on his shoes while his mother was busy in the kitchen.
His mother turned around and looked at Xu Yi with a gentle smile on her face. "Okay, go ahead, but remember to be safe. If you're going to be late, send me a message so I don't worry."
Xu Yi nodded, "Hmm, got it." With that, she opened the door and walked out.
Walking on the street, Xu Yi took a deep breath, feeling the fresh morning air. Although last night's events had left her feeling a bit down, she knew that life wouldn't stop moving forward because of a setback. What she needed to do was to sort out her emotions and keep moving forward.
Xu Yi's destination was the ancient city of City A. There, the city's history and memories were preserved, along with the memories belonging to her and Jian Chen. Every time she entered the ancient city, she could feel the accumulation of years and the weight of history.
Entering the ancient city, Xu Yi felt as if she had traveled back in time. She strolled along the cobblestone road, surrounded by quaint buildings and a variety of small shops. Entering an antique store, she found a display of various ancient relics and artworks. Xu Yi's gaze wandered over each item, searching for something that could connect her and Jian Chen's memories. In one corner, an ancient music box caught her attention. It was exquisitely elegant, adorned with intricate patterns, seemingly telling an ancient story.
Xu Yi gently picked up the music box, her fingers lightly touching the cold metal surface, as if she could feel Jian Chen's warmth. She closed her eyes, recalling that afternoon when sunlight bathed the alleys of the ancient city.
Tears welled up in Xu Yi's eyes as she tightly held the music box, her heart filled with complex emotions. She left the antique store, carrying a mind full of thoughts, continuing to wander through the ancient city.
She walked through the alley that she had once walked with Jian Chen, and arrived at the observation deck where they had once enjoyed the sunset together. Standing there, she gazed at the distant scenery, her heart filled with longing and emotion.
"Jian Chen, where are you? Do you still remember this place?" Xu Yi whispered softly, her voice echoing in the ancient city, as if searching for the figure that had disappeared into the passage of time.
As night fell, the lights of the ancient city gradually lit up. Xu Yi left the observation deck and stood on the city wall. The lights of the ancient city spread out before her, like stars, reminiscent of the days she had spent with Jian Chen. The ancient city in the night became even more tranquil and profound, with each light seeming to tell an ancient story.
She leaned against the city wall, letting the night breeze gently brush her face, trying to calm the waves in her heart. She knew that she couldn't always immerse herself in the memories of the past. She needed to bravely face reality and the future.
She touched the bricks and tiles on the city wall, standing where Jian Chen had once stood, feeling a sense of sadness. At that moment, a familiar figure appeared at the other end of the city wall. The person was walking towards Xu Yi's direction, and their eyes met in the night. It was Jian Chen, he had returned.
But just as Xu Yi reached out to touch, the figure in front of her disappeared. Xu Yi was stunned, her hand still hanging in the air, her eyes filled with astonishment and disappointment. Was it her illusion? Or had Jian Chen really come back, only to leave her again?
She blinked hard, trying to wake herself up. But the scene in front of her did not change, the familiar figure had disappeared without a trace. "Jian Chen....." Xu Yi called softly, but her voice seemed so fragile and powerless in the evening breeze. She knew she couldn't go on like this. She had to learn to face reality, even if it meant facing the world alone. She took a deep breath, trying to calm the turmoil in her heart.
Xu Yi turned and left the city wall, walking towards the depths of the ancient city. She knew that whether Jian Chen returned or not, she had to continue her own life.
