As I wielded the Soul Calling technique, it felt as if I were trying to ensnare Li Wei's Soul with a lasso. The "Parental Blood" was the rope in my hands. However, just as I threw the lasso and caught Li Wei, ready to pull her back with all my strength, the rope suddenly snapped. Zhengyang had mentioned that once the "Parental Blood" captured the lost soul of the person being called back, it would essentially be successful, and the soul could be summoned quickly. Yet here we were in this predicament; I couldn't quite grasp what had gone wrong. So, I called in Big Mouth Lee, who had been guarding outside for me, and quietly explained the situation.
After listening to me, Big Mouth Lee fell into silence, clearly puzzled.
After nearly a minute of contemplation, Big Mouth Lee's eyes lit up as if he had thought of something important. He leaned in closer and said softly, "I once performed a Soul Calling for a child. Fortunately, that child's soul hadn't been taken by anything; if it had been taken away, performing another Soul Calling would have been difficult. When I found that child's soul, the other party would have immediately noticed and severed our connection!"
"You mean that after Li Wei's soul was extracted, it wasn't lost but taken by something? Could it be that thing we scared off last night?"
"There's a possibility!"
Big Mouth Lee nodded and said, "Li Wei's Soul must have been forcibly extracted by those Dirty Things. Once extracted, it's very likely that it was taken away!"
"What do they want with a Soul?"

Big Mouth Lee shrugged. "Maybe being a Ghost Servant isn't so great. That guy probably intended to extract all of Li Wei's Three Souls and Seven Spirits to make a Ghost Servant, but unfortunately, Li Wei's will to resist was too strong. Plus, we arrived just in time, so it only managed to take one Daoist soul!"
A Ghost Servant, as the name implies, is a servant of ghosts!
Such things do exist; they are typically created by members of the Taoist Sect who capture some heinous Evil Spirits. They seal these spirits into a Paper Man to eliminate the malevolence surrounding them. Once the Evil Spirit's malice dissipates, the Taoist Sect sells the Paper Man containing the sealed Evil Spirit to wealthy families. When these families burn paper for their deceased relatives, they also burn the Paper Man. This way, the Evil Spirits are sent to the Underworld, becoming servants of the deceased in those wealthy households. The master can only be liberated during Reincarnation, after which they must endure various sufferings in the Underworld for nine thousand nine hundred ninety-nine years before they can reincarnate again—not as a human but starting from being an animal. Only after enduring countless hardships over a hundred lifetimes can they be reborn as a human!
The fate is quite tragic, so generally, evil spirits would rather remain as ghosts forever than become Ghost Servants and then reincarnate!
Moreover, Ghost Servants must be made from living souls, which is quite expensive!
After hearing this, I was momentarily stunned and then filled with anger. If they were truly taken to become Ghost Servants, I wouldn't have the face to continue living!!!
At that moment, a thick Eerie Energy suddenly enveloped the surroundings. A dense fog rolled outside the Peach Wood Formation, and eerie wails echoed from within the large house!

My expression changed instantly; clearly, my Soul Calling had taken too long. During Soul Calling, Li Wei's vulnerabilities were fully exposed—this was most attractive to ghostly beings. Over time, wandering souls around us had discovered her incomplete and unprotected spirit and were now flocking over to occupy her body. The wandering souls and wild ghosts trying to seize Li Wei's body were likely not benign; most malevolent spirits have terrifying appearances. I arranged this out of concern that Surrey and the others might be frightened!

Just as we prepared ourselves for a desperate fight, the ghostly wails outside suddenly ceased, as if something terrifying had appeared, causing the spirits to scatter like birds and beasts. In the blink of an eye, they vanished completely.
This situation was definitely not right!
I muttered to myself, fearing that something significant had arrived. To see through the thick fog, I focused my Killing Intent, and in an instant, a crimson haze enveloped my eyes, allowing me to pierce through the Shadow Mist.
In the distance, two dark figures were slowly drifting toward us!
One was dragging a chain, while the other carried a set of shackles.
I could even hear one of them speaking: "What’s going on with all these restless souls gathered here? Huh? It seems there’s someone here with an incomplete soul!"
The other replied, "An incomplete soul means their Lifespan has ended; they should return to the Underworld!"
Hearing their words made my heart sink. No wonder those restless souls fled so quickly; it turned out that Yincha had arrived!
