At the entrance of a villa in Rongcheng, I finally met Li Wei's parents.

Their earlier conversation was almost a subtle inquiry into whether I was affiliated with the Xia Family! If I were, they could trust me to save Wei, given the Xia Family's reputation. If not, then tonight the Surreys might not even let me see Wei!
This was my first time dealing with such wealthy individuals. I was somewhat amazed by their depth and cunning, but I understood their need for caution—after all, they were concerned parents! So I didn't dwell on it too much and simply followed Li's Father upstairs.
Currently attending to Wei was her mother, Xu Wan. Being a woman, Xu Wan lacked Li's Father's composure; she sat by the bed weeping for Wei as soon as Li's Father introduced me. Xu Wan immediately grasped my hand and pleaded with me to save her daughter, which left me in an awkward position of offering comfort until I finally managed to extricate myself from the anxious mother. Then I approached Wei to assess her condition.
As I suspected, things were indeed dire. After losing her Life Soul, Wei's body had become heavily infused with Eerie Energy. Meanwhile, her Yang Qi was continuously dissipating; compared to yesterday, the coldness emanating from her was even more pronounced, and below her ankles had turned completely icy. At this rate, if we couldn't retrieve her Soul within a week, Wei would truly be lost.
It was now past eight in the evening; darkness had fallen—an ideal time for Soul Calling!
If it weren't dark enough, the excess Yang Qi would prevent Wei's Soul from enduring the sunlight after it detached from her body; typically it would hide during daylight hours. Even if she heard the Soul Calling during the day, she wouldn't dare approach!
Conversely, if it became too dark—especially at midnight—the Eerie Energy in the surroundings would be overwhelming. Once Soul Calling commenced, Wei's body would fully open up to that energy, accelerating its erosion of her essence and potentially leaving her with lasting repercussions.
Eight o'clock was neither too early nor too late—just perfect!
I instructed Xu Wan to begin dressing and washing Wei while I went downstairs to summon Big Mouth Lee to help select a location outside the villa. The servants here seemed to have received instructions from Li's Father and were very cooperative. Ultimately, I chose a spot behind the villa where there was no moonlight.
The sun represents Yang while the moon represents Yin; where moonlight is thick is often where Evil Spirits linger!
With Wei having lost one of her souls and her Yang Qi weakened, it provided an opportunity for those Dirty Things to possess her. It would be wise to stay away from areas frequented by Evil Spirits!
However, that was still not enough. I called Zhang Bowen to unload the thirty-six Peach Wood Stakes that we had purchased in the afternoon from the car. Then, I drove these thirty-six Peach Wood Stakes into the ground according to the orientation of the Taiji Diagram. Using ink thread soaked in rooster comb blood, I tied these stakes together, forming a defensive formation of the Taoist Sect—the Peach Wood Evil-Repelling Formation!
This formation was taught to me by Zhengyang and is commonly used within the Taoist Sect.
Peach wood is known for its ability to exorcise evil. With these thirty-six Peach Wood Stakes driven into the ground and connected by the rooster comb blood-soaked ink thread, it created an ironclad defense line. Any Dirty Things lacking Daoist Practice would not dare approach, and even those with Daoist Practice would find it difficult to breach this extremely Yang and strong Taoist Sect formation. I set this up to prevent any Dirty Things from catching me off guard while I was calling for Wei's Soul. At the very least, with this formation in place, I would have some time to respond.
By the time I finished all of this, Surrey and Xu Wan had already brought Wei over. I signaled for them to place Wei in the center of the formation where Yin and Yang intersected. Then, I handed a bowl to Surrey and Xu Wan, instructing them to cut their middle fingers and let some of their essence blood flow into it. Their essence blood would mix together and be called "Parental Blood," which was crucial for locating Wei's Soul!
Li's Father and Xu Wan were eager to save their daughter, so they quickly filled half a bowl with blood and handed it to me. I then called Chen Yu into the Peach Wood Formation, giving him a basket containing a strand of Wei's hair. I instructed him to shake it above Wei's head while continuously calling out, "Wei, come back!"
This was meant to guide her Soul back into her body because a solitary Soul lacks cognitive ability; it only has instincts. Responding to the calls of those she once loved is her instinct!
After completing all of this, I sat cross-legged at the forefront of the formation. After inserting three Incense for Summoning Spirits, I began to change my hand seals according to what Zhengyang had taught me. Soon after, I felt as if my soul was lifting away, merging with the "Parental Blood" placed before me, guiding it outward in search of lost souls.
In this state, I completely lost track of time. Suddenly, I sensed a faint response from the distant end where the Parental Blood drifted, as if it had latched onto something!
In an instant, joy filled my heart; I knew I had found Wei's Soul!
But just as I was about to draw Wei's Soul back, that delicate connection that had just been established snapped with a "crack"!
