Another tsunami?
Just thinking about those massive waves made me shiver uncontrollably!
The last time we engaged in extreme sports, surviving the tsunami was mostly due to luck! It also helped that Zhengyang was there to boost our morale, which made us fearless!
But this time?
Whether we could be so fortunate again was a big question mark!
So, when Xiao Xiao announced the bad news, the entire submarine was filled with murmurs of despair.
"What do we do now?"
Big Mouth Lee, trembling and pitifully crouched in the corner, asked. The only gold tooth in his mouth had lost its dazzling luster, making him look like a refugee from Africa!
"Brace ourselves."
Xiao Xiao said with some difficulty, "Trust me, Captain and I have spent years navigating the seas. I don't know if this submarine can withstand the impact of those waves. If it can hold up, we might survive; if not..."
She didn't finish her sentence, but we weren't foolish. We all understood what she meant. We were already exhausted, surrounded by the vast ocean, and now facing a tsunami. If this submarine couldn't hold on, we would be doomed to drown without any chance of survival!
What caused the tsunami? It was undoubtedly the collapse of the Atlantis Ruins beneath the sea, triggering a massive underwater earthquake that ultimately led to the tsunami!
Talk about bad luck—just when we thought we had escaped death, we were plunged right back into peril!
Boom!
At that moment, the submarine shook violently. It was clear that the tsunami had begun to affect us!
"Get down!"
That was the last thing I heard from Xiao Xiao before everything went dark.
Immediately after, the submarine that had surfaced was overturned by a massive wave, as if it had been flung away. I felt an overwhelming weight pressing down on me, and when we fell, the submarine shook violently, throwing everyone inside into chaos. Although Lin Qing was doing her best to hold onto me tightly, in such a situation, how could she protect me when she herself was in danger? Amidst the fierce collision, I, already severely injured, coughed up blood and lost consciousness.
When I woke up again, I found myself lying in a sunny hospital room.
It was a three-person ward. I was on the ice bed in the middle, with Big Mouth Lee on my left and Bald Qiang on my right. When I opened my eyes, both of them were still asleep.
Bright sunlight streamed in through the window, illuminating the white sheets and familiar layout of the room.
Wait a minute, isn't this the hospital I was in last time?
"Zai, you finally woke up!"
The only one awake was Xiao Xiao. She rushed out and upon seeing me safe and sound, she burst into tears! Then she explained everything that had happened in detail.
It turned out that during the tsunami, the submarine left behind by Atlantis Civilization managed to withstand the impact of the waves. Later, we were washed up on a deserted island. Fortunately, Rosa had brought a radio with her.
Once we reached the island, Bald Qiang immediately contacted Tu Gen and Baozhu who were at Bermuda Islands. After figuring out our coordinates, we ended up staying on that deserted island for four days!
Now it was already May; it was hot, and my wounds hadn’t been properly stitched or bandaged. Those four days nearly cost me my life!
During those four days, my wounds began to fester. Blood accumulated in my chest cavity; I had a high fever of 41 degrees Celsius that wouldn’t break. My breathing became weak, and there were several times when I stopped breathing altogether!
It could be said that this was my most dangerous moment. Everyone had lost hope. At one point when my breathing ceased for a long time, Bald Qiang and the others prepared to bury me. They had even dug a grave when they suddenly noticed my leg move slightly; that’s when they realized I had entered a state of suspended animation as a self-protective measure.
Later on, Tu Gen and Preserve found us. At that time, I wasn't receiving much care on the ship, and my body couldn't withstand the long ocean voyage. In desperation, they arranged for a plane to take me back to Rongcheng.
This time, I truly escaped from the hands of the Yama King; I was half-buried in the ground but somehow managed to crawl out. One could say I was quite lucky to be alive!
I gathered some understanding of what had happened, and after Bald Qiang and Wan woke up, I exchanged a few words with them. However, due to my severe injuries and poor condition, I soon fell back asleep.
For the next month, I basically spent my time lying in bed. I would wake up every four to five hours, and the rest of the time I was mostly asleep. My body was completely worn out. After a month of nutrition fluids and various supplements, I finally regained some strength. Most of my wounds had healed by then, and on a rainy night in late May, I was discharged from the hospital.
Although I had been discharged, everything that had happened before felt like a dream—like an illusion.
It seemed as if I were in a dream that I never wanted to wake up from. Everything I had hoped for just happened; some things caught me off guard, yet it felt like they were meant to be.
Just as I was lost in thought!
My phone under the pillow suddenly buzzed loudly, vibrating so much that it shook the pillow!
Who the hell is calling me at this hour?
I was irritated!
I almost exploded with anger as I lifted my pillow to check. The phone screen lit up, showing it was three in the morning, and the caller ID indicated it was my father calling!
My father calling—could it be something important?
I was stunned and quickly answered the call.
"Son, you finally woke up! I've come to see you three or five times while you were in a coma!"
As soon as I picked up the phone, the old man spoke with a hint of urgency in his voice, "Something has happened, and it's serious. There's chaos over at City Center District, and many people have died!"
Hearing this, all the anger inside me was instantly suppressed. I replied in a low voice, "What happened? Be specific!"
"City Center!"
The old man continued gravely, "There are a lot of casualties!"
City Center?
At the mention of this, goosebumps erupted all over my body. This shouldn't be happening; logically, such places shouldn't have incidents like this!
I hesitated for a moment and said, "But what does this have to do with me?"
"It has everything to do with you. This is about the major event that will affect your fate later."
Once chaos erupts in that area, it becomes a significant matter. I needed to see what exactly had transpired. If it was something I could handle, then fine; but if it escalated beyond my capabilities, even sending ten experts there might not quell the storm brewing in that place!
However, as soon as I voiced my thoughts, the old man's tone shifted to something strange. After a long pause of thirty to forty seconds, he finally said with difficulty, "Son, you need to think this through. This is a mission you have no choice but to accept!"
A mission I had no choice but to accept?
