The flames were utterly insane, blood-red fire leaping on the ground, accompanied by the wails of countless spirits and the chaotic dance of demons.
This scene was shocking; being in it felt like standing in an endless purgatory.
Ghost Granny was ruthless, using such precious blood to break the formation. In a sense, it should be considered an infinitely enhanced Soul Transformation Array. The Six Earth Fires here, while fierce, would only cause discomfort to these Demon Cultists at most, not fatal harm. However, now that they had been strengthened, the Six Earth Fires had become extremely deadly for the Yin People. I witnessed several Demon Cultists closest to Zhengyang engulfed in blood-red flames, burned beyond recognition, ultimately turning into black mist—Soul Shattering.
It wasn't just these followers; even those two Demon Priests who had consumed the Saint Void Child and Bear Spirit were affected by the Six Earth Fires, screaming in agony. Those two were no novices in Daoist practice; they immediately felt their Eerie Energy dissipate, leading to their own Soul Shattering!
This wave of Six Earth Fires had incinerated thousands of Yin souls!
What kind of karma did this entail?
I instinctively turned to look at Ghost Granny. At that moment, her face was already shrouded in dark energy; she was clearly not at ease and had suffered significant damage.
As for Zhengyang, he had ceased channeling spiritual energy and was no longer resisting. He coldly observed the Demon Cultists wailing in the Six Earth Fires. In the dim glow of the blood-red flames, his complexion appeared sickly pale; he had overexerted himself. Yet, his posture remained straight, likely because he realized that these Demon Cultists were essentially doomed, allowing him to relax and sit down to meditate.
The passageway we had descended through was now sealed off by a stone gate, making it impossible to return the way we came. Currently, the only path available to us was through the iron door located directly southeast.
Ghost Granny propped herself up on my shoulder and stood up, saying directly, "Now that we've dealt with the ghosts blocking our way, it's time to meet the main character!"
Those Demon Cultists had surged out from that iron door earlier. I estimated that passing through it would lead us directly to the main chamber where Sima Saintess resided.
Bald Qiang and the others still hadn’t made contact; if all went as expected, they should be with Sima Saintess.
Ultimately, we would surely run into Sima Saintess!
After resting for a while, Ghost Granny seemed revitalized and moved quickly ahead of me as she passed through the iron door, disappearing into the darkness.
I didn't delay either, following closely behind Zhengyang.
Behind the iron door was a corridor stretching over a hundred meters. At the end of the corridor was a passageway, with stairs that climbed upward, leading who knows where.
It was only after we entered that we realized both sides of this corridor were adorned with murals. However, due to the passage of time and the fact that it was underground, the murals were not well-preserved. They had suffered severe oxidation and carbonization, with many areas appearing dark and indistinct.
I took a quick glance at these murals. Although I couldn't see them all clearly, I could discern some patterns.
As I hurriedly observed the murals, it was clear they depicted a chaotic array of scenes.
After passing through the corridor, we entered the passageway. This passageway was different from the one we had come through, which had been sealed by Soul-Transforming Stakes; it went straight up. After walking for about half an hour, we finally emerged from this passageway into a room resembling a study. However, everything inside was nearly rotten, and there was a heavy presence of Eerie Energy. The walls were covered in dust, clearly indicating that no one had been here for a long time; it was inhabited entirely by Dirty Things!
There was no doubt that we were now in Orion Temple. As soon as we arrived, we heard what sounded like chanting coming from outside—a low murmur as if someone nearby was praying. The voices were mixed, both male and female, but their tones were filled with sincerity.
Among them, one male voice stood out for its volume.
Zhengyang listened intently for a moment before lowering his voice to say to me, "It sounds like Big Mouth Lee and the others are praying."
Big Mouth Lee praying?
I could believe that Big Mouth Lee would pray; he would worship any god and offer to any spirit. He had no distinction between his own faith and others'. In social science terms, he was a typical egoist. Bald Qiang, on the other hand, was a staunch materialist who believed in nothing religious—he would fight against any deity or demon that crossed his path. If he were to believe in anything, it would likely be the worship of wealth!
However, Zhengyang's observation wasn't unfounded. I walked over to the door of the study and pressed my ear against it to listen closely. To my surprise, as soon as I did so, the chanting became even clearer. I listened for over ten minutes, my heart growing increasingly horrified!
Among those voices was indeed Bald Qiang's!
Not only Bald Qiang's voice but also Xiao Xiao's and even Furball's could be heard praying!
What I couldn't understand the most was that even Furball was praying. I was completely bewildered—you're just a beast, usually it's people who pray to you, so why the hell are you praying? If Furball went to India and spoke like this, it would immediately be worshipped and treated as a reincarnation of some god, instantly becoming an idol in the village! And yet, it's praying for what?
As the saying goes, something unusual must have a reason behind it. I wondered if those guys had been bewitched. In any case, things were getting stranger by the minute!
"Whatever, we'll find out what's going on by taking a look."
Ghost Granny said in a low voice, "I really don't know what kind of Demon this is. Other Demons deceive the living to absorb Yang Qi, but this one? It actually makes people pray. Could it be that even in death it’s spreading teachings? This is too hard to comprehend!"
With that, Ghost Granny pushed me aside and walked out.
Outside the study was a corridor lined with several rooms. As soon as we stepped out, the sounds of Bald Qiang and the others praying became clearer. Following their voices, I was pretty sure they were in the room at the end of the corridor.
Without wasting any time, the three of us headed straight for that room. By the time we reached the door, I already had my weapon ready in hand and was prepared for a fierce battle. Ghost Granny then kicked the door open with a powerful strike, and with a loud crash, it swung wide!
In an instant, a bright white light flooded our vision, and I finally got a clear look at the layout of the room!
It appeared to be a large church filled with many dilapidated chairs that had long since fallen into disrepair. The walls surrounding the church were embedded with huge luminous pearls; the white light came from those pearls. Under their illumination, everything inside the church was clearly visible.
Bald Qiang and his group were indeed inside, currently bowing down in worship before the Aolien Statue in the center of the church. Beneath the statue sat a woman dressed in white with long golden hair flowing down her back. Bathed in the soft glow emitted by the luminous pearls, she looked incredibly pure as she calmly accepted their kneeling…
