The sea surged, and the currents within the whirlpool were fierce.
Once we all plunged into the whirlpool, the Simple Submarine shot straight down into the depths of the ocean, as if a drill were boring through a wooden board. Although we were secured by seatbelts, we had completely lost our sense of gravity. The combination of weightlessness and spinning made me dizzy in no time.
The Simple Submarine continued to dive at an incredible speed. At this point, the submarine's engine had long since shut off, yet it was still plunging downward as if being pulled by some unseen force. It felt less like a natural descent and more like being dragged by something powerful.
I knew there must be something at the ocean floor generating suction; it was this suction that caused the whirlpool on the Wave Wall, and now we were being drawn toward it!
What was pulling us? Was it good or bad? Unknown!
However, what worried me more was where this would end!
I had no idea how deep we had descended, but I could feel the immense pressure of the surrounding water. It seemed that the Simple Submarine might not withstand such powerful water pressure. If we exceeded six hundred meters underwater, the Diving Shield would rupture, and we would be crushed like rotten persimmons!
As we plunged deeper, my heart sank further.
In an instant, we reached a depth of six hundred meters, and my nerves were stretched to their limit.
Crack!
Without warning, a sharp sound echoed on the Diving Shield, sudden and jarring. I jolted in surprise and glanced to my right, only to see a white crack appearing on that side of the Diving Shield. Water seeped through the crack, salty and cold, splashing onto my face—chilling, just like my current mood. This was a sign that the Diving Shield could no longer withstand the water pressure.
And this was just the beginning.
As soon as that first crack sounded, a series of popping noises followed on the Diving Shield. Cracks spread across its surface like flowers blooming, and water rushed in with a loud splash, drenching us all. We were completely soaked, making it nearly impossible to breathe.
If the end of this whirlpool lay beyond eight hundred meters below sea level, the Diving Shield would shatter completely. At our current rate of descent, it wouldn’t be long before our Simple Submarine exploded under pressure, fully submerged in water—and then we would be finished.
If our only refuge at the ocean floor shattered too, then we would be doomed!
Crack!
At that moment, the searchlight at the front of the submarine shattered under the immense water pressure, plunging the cabin into darkness. The only sounds that echoed in my ears were the splashing of water mixed with the cracking noise of the Diving Shield. The water inside the cabin had already risen to my waist, and I believed it wouldn't be long before it swallowed me whole. At that point, it would be the end of my life.
Darkness, cold...
In this moment, my despair was beyond words.
Just when I had almost resigned myself to my fate, a burst of bright light suddenly leaped into my vision.
It was a scattering of white lights, glaringly bright against the pitch-black depths of the ocean. With these lights, I could see intertwining passages resembling pipes woven through the water. These passages seemed to extend from below all the way up to this point; it was hard to gauge just how long they were. If they truly stretched all the way from the ocean floor, it would be astonishing. After all, the Atlantic reaches depths of over three thousand meters, with some ravines plunging even deeper than ten thousand meters. If these passages indeed reached the seabed, it was unimaginable how they could have formed!
Artificial?
That seemed a bit exaggerated and far-fetched. At least with current human civilization, such an engineering feat was beyond reach; our technology simply couldn't achieve it! So far, humans have only been able to dive nearly ten thousand meters deep using specially designed submarines made from unique materials meant for extreme depths, aimed at pushing technological limits. This represents all cutting-edge diving technology, which is not something that can be widely applied given our current level of civilization. In short, completing a massive engineering project below three thousand meters in the deep sea is something humanity cannot accomplish yet!
But if that were true, then it would be completely impossible; these passages were interconnected and bore clear signs of artificial construction!
So... could it be Atlantis?
Could these passages be part of the submerged city structure of Atlantis? What purpose did they serve?!
My mind was racing; Atlantis is a prehistoric super civilization, a concept completely alien to humanity—the Fourth Civilization Era of Earth. To date, all information regarding Atlantis has been mere speculation by humans. We haven't even entered an exploratory phase regarding this ancient super civilization since its ruins lie beneath the Atlantic Ocean. The distance from three thousand to ten thousand meters underwater is beyond human capability for detailed search and exploration...
This is a realm we know nothing about.
Thus, understanding their city structures through our own perspective becomes exceedingly difficult. Whether these passages are truly part of Atlantis remains uncertain; their purpose is something incomprehensible to those living in our current civilization!
"Is that Suction coming from these channels?"
"It must be. Anyway, our submarine shot straight into one of those many channels!"
Creak, creak, creak...
The Diving Shield was rapidly cracking. Once we entered the deep sea, my only reliance was that Diving Shield. Beyond that, any effort or struggle was futile. With the Diving Shield intact, we were safe; if it shattered, we would perish. It was that simple.
Finally, we reached the entrance of the channel that had been drawing us in. Only then did I see clearly that there was a thin layer of light membrane at the entrance. This membrane kept the seawater out, leaving the inside of the channel empty!
Don't ask me what that light membrane is because I have no idea. It might be a product of Atlantis's prehistoric super civilization. With my current knowledge, I couldn't comprehend it at all. If I had to explain, I could only say it was some kind of energy that blocked the seawater, preventing it from flooding into the channel.
The Fourth Civilization Era is called "Light Civilization," which might also relate to how the Atlanteans skillfully utilized luminous energy!
I silently prayed as we finally surged into that channel. In that instant, the Diving Shield shattered with a "crack," and fragments scattered all over us!
Once inside the channel, I realized it was incredibly smooth, like a mirror surface, and there was also a slope!
The outcome was obvious; one wave calmed while another rose. Our Simple Submarine slid down the slope of the channel at an incredible speed, unstoppable...
