"You all are still alive!"
Outside the tomb, a hulking figure clad in skin stepped forward, one deliberate step at a time.
He blocked the exit, an eerie energy swirling around him, his gaze dark and sinister. With a cold smile revealing two dagger-like fangs, he said, "I originally planned to use you as pawns, but now you're as good as dead!"
"Is that you? Nikola?" I shuddered, utterly astonished. Although I was collapsed on the ground at that moment, I had rested long enough.
"Do you really think I'm afraid of you? If it weren't for needing your help to eliminate the Black Bone Corpse Demon and completely break the seal, I wouldn't have left you alive."
I looked him up and down in disbelief; no wonder his power was a hundred times stronger than the last time we met. However, one thing puzzled me—how could a seal exist without a corpse? How could a millennium-old vampire be sealed away just like that?
"Don't be foolish. Didn't you see that by killing the Black Bone Corpse Demon, my true self regained freedom?"
I closed my eyes and pondered deeply until realization struck me. "Damn it! When we killed the Black Death Corpse Demon, a lewd smoke-like bat flew out; it must have been His Majesty Nikola!"
"Oh! It's 'the elegant Bat,' you uncultured groundhog!"
...
I fell silent for a moment, knowing that today would not end well.
"If you've been rescued, why are you still bothering me?"
"Hmph! If I’m bothering you, then that middle-aged man named Xia who killed my beloved Balala last year must pay! I will bring justice upon you!"
Could he be referring to my father? My father had gone abroad for studies two years ago and had since fallen out of contact. Could he be here on some mission?
Seeing my silence only made Nikola more smug. "Today, I will kill you ten thousand times, making you wish for death while being unable to die, regretting ever coming to this world."
I chuckled at his arrogance. "If you want revenge, bring it on. But spare those two beside me." Under normal circumstances, with my strength combined with Bowl and Furball's abilities, we might have stood a chance. But now we were severely injured, and Furball's power had diminished due to the curse; we were truly in peril!
"Naive." Nikola sneered with tears in his eyes, revealing his emotional nature. "What kind of hero do you think you are in front of me? Foolish idiot! Will I spare them? Anyone associated with you deserves to die. If you want me to let them go, I'll kill them first so you can watch them die."
"Run! Don't worry about me!"
Seeing the situation turn dire, I shouted and then struggled to jump up, protecting the bowl and Furball behind me.
Nikola's Eerie Energy surged as he waved his hand.
Countless wisps of mist, resembling black bats, erupted from his cloak, accompanied by a thunderous roar.
In that instant, the Corpse Qi, Killing Intent, and the gloomy energy within me, along with the surrounding dark aura, surged into my body. A visible blue electric light began to swirl around me. I knew that the Killing Intent was returning, and I would gain immense power.
I unleashed all my strength; my skeletal muscles trembled, and the meridians on my back bulged like nine giant dragons moving about. A faint dragon's roar echoed within me. Transparent fist prints burst forth from my fists, roaring endlessly as they struck towards the azure thunder.
Boom!
The azure thunder was shattered.
"Ugh... Pfft!"
Accompanied by a wave of intense pain, I spat out a jet of blood, my body violently thrown backward and crashing into a tomb chamber ten meters away.
"Brother!"
"We're here for you!!"
"Stop messing around! Quickly carry Xiao Xiao out of here; I'll hold them off!"
Furball and the bowl were clearly stunned and refused to comply. My gaze shot through them like a sword as I cursed, "Damn it! Don't you understand the situation? It's a miracle I'm still alive, but you can't die! You must remember that. I will protect you..." They nodded tearfully and prepared to carry Xiao Xiao away!
"Trying to escape?" Nikola moved to intercept them. I suddenly leaped up and tightly wrapped my arms around his waist. "Furball, you take care of them! Get out of here now!" They hurriedly glanced back three times before fleeing from the tomb chamber.
At this moment, my face was pale, blood staining the corners of my mouth. I felt waves of excruciating pain coursing through me; my bones felt weak as if I were losing consciousness. I could barely muster the strength to stand, especially in my internal organs, which felt as if they were being scorched by raging flames. It seemed like countless stars were flying before my eyes.
"Anyway, they can't escape my grasp!" Nikola laughed maniacally. "It seems today is destined for you to die at my hands."
I let out a cold snort, struggling to get back on my feet.
But my legs suddenly went weak again, and I felt as if I had eaten too many sour plums; the sharp tang made it impossible for me to stand steadily.
"Hehehe, look at you, a worthless piece of trash, thinking you can fight me?" Nikola reveled in his anger and pleasure.
I spat out a mouthful of blood, intending to summon the Killing Intent within me once more.
But instantly, I felt the Killing Intent raging inside me, impossible to control, like steel needles piercing through me, leaving me utterly powerless.
It seemed that a direct confrontation was hopeless. However, there were many Tomb Gates in this crypt. Based on my knowledge of Chinese Tombs, the terrain here was intricate and complex; I might still be able to hide for a while. Besides, most of the ghosts inside had already been dealt with.
I hurriedly dashed into one of the tomb passages. It was pitch black inside; all I could hear was the sound of my own breathing echoing in the silent Passageway.
No one knew what lay at the end of the Passageway, nor did anyone know if there was a way forward.
Clearly, this was not the time to ponder such questions.
The first priority was to shake off Nikola's pursuit.
Otherwise, everything would be in vain.
I forced myself to run, nearly losing consciousness from the pain several times. Along with the surge of Killing Intent within me, it felt as if two forces were battling inside. My body began to emit black smoke. At that moment, I had essentially lost all combat capability.
The air in the Passageway was gradually becoming thin.
I had no idea how far I had run when a vast space resembling a giant Stone House appeared before me.
The walls of the space were riddled with more than ten holes, each two or three meters in diameter, leading into unfathomable depths. No one knew where they led.
It was a beehive-shaped space.
Moments later, Nikola, transformed into a Bat, had also chased into this beehive tomb. He stopped, clearly overwhelmed by the numerous branching paths, caught in a moment of indecision.
Seizing the opportunity, I quickly dashed into a Passageway. Suddenly, a shadow flashed before my eyes and grabbed me entirely, as effortlessly as an eagle snatching a chicken...
...
"Who are you?"
I looked at the figure in the black robe. This person was slender and managed to remain spotless in this filthy tomb, giving off an unusually clean aura.
"I am someone who has always been very interested in you." The voice of the figure was deep, as if it were being squeezed directly from their chest. From this person, I felt an unprecedented sense of suffocation and pressure.
Friend or foe?
"Your current situation is basically a dead end. How dare you perform such dangerous Daoist Arts? Your life is practically over!" The figure in black cackled, then extended a hand. "Alright, hand it over."
Ye Qingyu was taken aback. "Hand over what?"
"If you can hand over the treasure, I will let you live and completely heal both you and that girl. What do you think?"
