Here it comes! That thing has finally arrived, a chilling wind rushing toward me!
With a crack!
I swiftly drew the Azure Dark Sword, urging Wan to grip her dagger tightly as she and Xiao Xiao huddled together.
I steadied my breath, allowing my heart to sink into my body, summoning the thin, hair-like Killing Intent within me. As I did so, that energy surged into my hand, instantly flowing into the Azure Dark Sword. In an instant, a thin layer of blue coldness enveloped the sword, and my vision was shrouded in crimson. Before my eyes, the area around the island had transformed into a vast sea of blood!
To fend off this Evil Spirit, I had specially collected some Turtle Blood and smeared it on a rag, drawing peculiar symbols that were essentially a mix of Cursed Script and Sanskrit letters—an ancient incantation with astonishing power!
Boom!
The Rune Cloth on my chest suddenly ignited, burning rapidly; in the blink of an eye, half of it was consumed. I knew those Dirty Things were drawing near. Just as this thought crossed my mind, piercing screams and wails erupted nearby, sharp and vengeful sounds that made my scalp tingle.
Good grief!
No wonder the Eerie Energy was so intense; even I could feel it. It turned out there was more than one Dirty Thing!
Anxiety gripped me. Could these be the Evil Spirits spawned by the indigenous Vengeful Spirits? This is bad; I had only seen five or six people in my dreams. If there were that many Evil Spirits, how could I possibly handle them?
Could it be that I was about to face a whole swarm of Evil Spirits? Damn it, I can’t be this unlucky!
Before I could think further, the wailing from outside grew increasingly shrill and high-pitched. Moments later, I saw a Ghost Head peeking over the wall.
To be precise, it was a pitch-black face resembling charred coal—like something that had been burned. The eyes and nose were fused together, creating a terrifying visage!
In just a moment, the owner of that ghostly face crawled up from the wall and stood atop it, letting out a mournful scream before drifting toward me—she aimed to ambush Wan!
As I had anticipated, these creatures went wild upon spotting an untrained Spirit Ghost…
Then, dozens of hands erupted from the ground like mushrooms after rain. Each hand was blackened and decayed, exuding a foul stench; skeletal fingers opened and closed like countless greedy beaks waiting to be fed!
“Damn you!”
I let out a furious roar, swinging the Azure Dark Sword without a care for the chaotic limbs around me, charging straight at the Black-Faced Ghost. This creature looked ferocious, but its Daoist Practice was shallow!
It was completely oblivious to my presence, so when I closed in, I struck its Ghost Head with a single blow, cleaving its ghostly skull in half. In an instant, the Black-Faced Ghost erupted into ashes and vanished completely, undergoing Soul Shattering!
Suddenly, a chilling aura surged from the Azure Dark Sword into my body. Clearly, the Killing Intent of that Black-Faced Ghost had been transformed into my own. Fragments of memories flooded my mind—scenes of the Black-Faced Ghost's death. It was still engulfed in a Sea of Fire, desperately trying to escape, only to have its head severed by a red-bearded pirate. The head burned in the Sea of Fire, and even its ears were cut off by the pirate. It was tragic, utterly tragic!
Having dealt with one so cleanly took me by surprise.
Is this the power of Killing Intent?
I instinctively glanced at the cold-glowing Azure Dark Sword in my hand, feeling a mix of shock and awe. This weapon was far more powerful than any bloodshed on a person's tongue; just a touch against those Dirty Things would spell their doom!
My confidence surged significantly. Once a person possesses determination, their abilities will increase accordingly. After all, there's a saying that with confidence comes strength... I felt exhilarated to the point of wanting to shout!
It was time to activate the Nine Yang Soul Locking Formation. "Quickly, turn the Sea Turtle over!"
The two of them grasped their daggers and trembled as they ran down. They found the Sea Turtle and flipped it over one by one. As soon as the Sea Turtle was turned, the power of the Nine Yang Soul Locking Formation became evident. I vaguely saw nine narrow beams of light shooting out in all directions.
Those Dirty Things were stunned; countless hands shrank back into the earth!
It seemed my method was effective; the Sea Turtle could indeed suppress those Dirty Things!
I took a deep breath when suddenly I heard a sharp and piercing voice speaking in English. I could still understand this simple English; it was a thin-voiced man clearly issuing commands. He shouted, "Friends, charge in..."
As soon as this command was given, the wails outside became even sharper and more intense. Countless souls climbed over walls and surged in, each one looking grotesque and pitch black like charred wood. Some had their bellies split open, all screaming as they lunged toward me!
The terrifying appearances of these Demons clearly reflected how they looked at their deaths. I quickly realized—most of these Demons were likely those who had perished in that large courtyard during the fire; as for those covered in blood with their intestines hanging out, they were probably victims of the pirates!
At that moment, an endless courage welled up within me. A voice echoed deep inside: Fight!! Fight to the death!! If I retreat now, I will regret it for life!!!
I swung my sword fiercely at those creatures; the Rune Cloth emitted a sizzling sound as flames erupted and instantly turned them to ash. Without Master Copper Seal's protection or talismans, I had no choice but to rely entirely on myself now.
I stepped forward, following the direction of the Big Dipper, moving with a stagger. Suddenly, a thought flashed through my mind. The Three Talents Formation; this formation could maximize our combat effectiveness. Back then, it was this very formation that allowed me, Big Mouth Lee, and Bald Qiang to defeat the Satsuma Samurai.
"Three Talents Formation!" I shouted, and the bowl immediately understood. She pulled Xiao Xiao close and grabbed a dagger in each hand. Back to back, they formed the Three Talents Formation. Instantly, their power surged, causing those Dirty Things to retreat several steps!
Several bold Evil Spirits continued to claw at us as we were besieged. Among us, Xiao Xiao was the weakest. I had to protect her from time to time, and because of that, I soon found myself covered in wounds from the Demons! In the heat of battle, one often feels no pain; it's like many soldiers who don’t feel anything after being shot. Once they leave the front lines, the pain hits them all at once.
"Xiao Xiao, lure them in deeper! I'll take the lead on the attack; you focus on defense. We'll count one, two, three and attack in order!" They nodded in agreement.
Indeed, our strategy proved effective as countless Evil Spirits fell before us. Hands emerged from the ground, clawing their way out. The charred and wretched Evil Spirits fell again and again under our strikes. My hands throbbed with pain, but our morale soared. Thus, we fought even harder; although my body was already drenched in blood, at that moment I couldn't care less about it!
As I saw the number of Evil Spirits dwindling, I knew there were even more fearsome foes behind them. We could only advance; retreat meant certain death!
I had no idea how long we had been fighting amidst a sea of corpses and blood! Suddenly, a thin-voiced man shouted again, filled with resentment and anger: "I was right about you! To kill Captain Cook is no small feat; you will assist me! Everyone fall back..." I didn’t catch every word due to unfamiliar terms, but I understood the gist!
Damn it! He wanted revenge for Captain Cook and was ready to fight me to the death!
The grudge of murder is often unforgiving; hell, it seemed this guy wanted me dead!
As his voice faded, the Evil Spirits surrounding me suddenly retreated. "How ridiculous! Even as a ghost you talk about honor and want to duel with me?" I cursed inwardly. Suddenly, a chilling wind sliced through the air before me. Instinctively looking up, I saw a swirling White Mist as a Daoist figure slowly approached through the haze.
