Boom boom! 0

As soon as I heard it, I frowned. This drumbeat was peculiar; I felt like I had heard it somewhere before. The sound of the drum was unique, with an infinitely looping rhythm. At the lowest point, it suddenly mixed in one or two high-pitched roars. This kind of drum was only used in two situations: for headhunting or for battle... 0

What the hell! During our patrols, we clearly found ourselves on a deserted island. Where did this war drum sound come from? This is not scientific! It must be an illusion, definitely an illusion! 0

They looked at me, wide-eyed and astonished! "Isn't that the Surprise Drum?" Xiao Xiao said, and her words cleared my confusion. 0

The Surprise Drum, also known as the Rock Recorder, plays back sounds that were accidentally recorded when conditions are right. The Surprise Drum is generally made of Quartzite. 0

Quartzite is a common mineral found in nature, primarily composed of Silicon Dioxide. Due to the excellent conductivity of Silicon Dioxide, it is often made into various electronic components and installed in the Heart of recording devices. Thus, people suspect that the reason the Surprise Drum still retains the sounds of ancient battlefields is because the Silicon Dioxide in the rocks here has recording capabilities. 0

In a deep valley near the Yunnan Luliang County Shalin Scenic Area, this kind of sound exists. The Ancestors explained it as Yin Soldiers passing through; now it's interpreted as a recording function. 0

This also resolved a question I had since entering the cave. First, this cave was incredibly smooth and clearly not naturally formed. Secondly, why were there no wild animals living in this cave? 0

Now it can be fully explained. At some point in time, a group of Indigenous People adorned with Kaoru (a type of fern) and wielding Batu (similar to daggers) struck the drums after headhunting and performed rituals in this excavated cave. On a stormy night, they happened to record their sounds. 0

A clap of thunder triggered this recorder, playing back events from who knows when. This island is located in a tropical region with thunderstorms year-round, so naturally, animals would avoid living here. My professional sensitivity told me that this place was absolutely uninhabitable... 0

However, I might have to tell them about this to avoid panic. The bowl now seemed no different from normal humans, while Xiao Xiao didn't seem to care about these supernatural matters... Lost in thought, I actually fell asleep! 0

When I woke up, Xiao Xiao glanced at me and mischievously said to the bowl, "Trout loves to sleep in, so we caught him." 0

The bowl chuckled and replied, "Xiao Xiao, you're wrong; Trout is quite lively!" After a moment, she suddenly realized and laughed out loud, "Xiao Xiao, you’re so bad! Brother Xia is not Trout!" I looked at her expression and shrugged helplessly; I wouldn't support anything else but you... 0

As the thunder outside gradually faded, the rain also began to stop, and a cool breeze swept in. I decided to stoke the fire a bit more. There was still a pile of wood left at the cave entrance from yesterday's chopping; although it had been soaked by the rain, it wasn't completely wet. I picked out some pieces and added them to the fire. I also took some sticks to cover the pit where we had placed the Trout. 0

Our meal was ready by this time, and the aroma filled the air! The bowl was delicately combing through her hair with slender fingers. Her hair was long and soft, with stray ends brushing against her fair chest, exuding a woman's charm. It was only at this moment that I truly felt she was an adult. 0

Tonight's food was abundant; not only did we have Bear Meat, but there were also fish and even some wild vegetables. We ate heartily; even a five-star hotel couldn't match this flavor. To this day, I often reminisce about that time in my life—simple, tough, yet incredibly memorable! 0

After dinner, I found a piece of Granite Stone that resembled a pot and began to carve a circle on top with a stone before chiseling out a pit with my dagger. The dagger was sharp, and the rock was hard; although it took time, I was making progress. 0

I planned to use the granite to make a pot; this Paint Bucket would be used for cooking food, while this pot would be for boiling water. Although it didn't look large, it was deep enough to hold thirty or forty pounds of water—plenty for our drinking needs. It wasn't that I was being overly cautious; the spring water in the wild often harbored parasites, and without medicine to treat infections, we would be doomed. 0

We used Banana Leaves to scoop up water and poured it into the Stone Pot. Before long, the stream water began to bubble and boil. To prepare for long-term living, I also carved out several Wooden Cups and Wooden Spoons and Forks so that we could maintain civilized dining habits as much as possible. 0

After everyone had eaten their fill and sipped some soup with wooden utensils, we all felt comfortable in our stomachs. However, there wasn't much firewood left for burning, so I thought I would need to gather some more. 0

Before I knew it, it was deep into the night again. Our method of telling time was quite simple; we judged it by different Insect Chirping sounds. For instance, at dusk there was a type of Yayaya's Chirping; around eight or nine o'clock, we heard Creaking Insects; and late at night brought Rustling Insect Sounds! 0

The shadows cast by the fire flickered on the cave walls as thoughts swirled in my mind. Lying on my "bed," I carefully considered matters regarding this island. Based on my observations over these past few days, I had a rough understanding of the island's feng shui... 0

Feng shui refers to how wind is concealed and water is embraced. Although surrounded by seawater, one can still discern whether an area embraces water or not. The Shadow Side of the island embraced water, forming a circular shape, while the other side consisted of large areas of bare rock. 0

Bare Rock is one of the strongest materials for absorbing Eerie Energy, which has negative effects on one's spirit: bare rocky hills exhibit lifelessness, stubbornness, inflexibility, and solitude within their Energy Field. 0

If one were to visit these bare rocky hills out of curiosity or for sightseeing purposes, their adverse Energy Field could diminish one's interpersonal relationships and marital prospects, leading one into isolation and despair while remaining obstinate and unrepentant—a path where one mistakes every step taken thereafter becomes increasingly difficult to reverse. 0

This island consists of three mountains: low in the center and towering on both sides. As wind passes through them, it fails to retain any vitality brought by the breeze; thus, the island appears particularly lifeless. When I surveyed from atop the mountain, I clearly noticed that this cave was situated near an ominous focal point; however, strangely enough, some form of Yin Sha seemed suppressed by something else. 0

In short, this cave is not a place for long-term habitation, and this island is not a simple one. 0

The only place suitable for living is the Sunny Side's Dune, where the feng shui is relatively favorable amidst this treacherous land, making it suitable for a brief stay. This explains why there is Fresh Water on this island, yet no one resides here… 0

Suddenly, I heard unusual noises outside the cave. There was a spot outside where I stored Trout, and the sound was definitely coming from there! 0

With a loud crash, the noise reverberated; it must have been the stone I used to hold down the wooden stick being pushed aside. Startled, I quickly sat up. Something was definitely approaching; it seemed this place was indeed perilous… 0

The sound of the stone collapsing and my sudden movement simultaneously startled the bowl and Xiao Xiao. They opened their fearful eyes, glancing at the dark night outside and then back at me, waiting for my judgment and strategy. 0

A gust of cold wind swept through, and suddenly a White Mist began to rise around us. More than twenty Trout were splashing their tails wildly against the stones by the creek, but I saw nothing! 0

If it were something like a wild boar or a Wild Bear, the threat they posed would be limited. Instead, this silent and inexplicable danger filled me with an overwhelming fear. 0

Although it seemed there was no immediate danger, that was precisely what made it most dangerous… Once we entered a state of complacency, that thing could pounce at any moment without hesitation, taking our lives. We could not guess what it had in mind; on this island, it seemed fraught with peril and countless unsolved mysteries. Who knows what dangers we might encounter next? 0

In fact, beneath every seemingly calm Sea Surface lies hidden resentment and malice. Countless islands are steeped in greed and sin. Many restless spirits have nowhere to dwell and ultimately linger in the human realm, wandering from island to island as lost souls, living lives worse than death, praying for an end to their suffering. 0
