According to the records in "Mausoleum Secrets," there is a creature in Kunlun known as the Blood Spider, which feeds on human blood and possesses an incurable venom. This Blood Spider resembles the Fire Spider, but its entire body is a deeper red, blending seamlessly with the Burial Flower. Its web resembles the Eight Formation, earning it another name: Yin Yang Spider. A bite from this creature is akin to drinking herbicide, almost as if one has been marked by the King of Hell.
Fortunately, the Blood Spider has extremely low intelligence and combat ability. Generally, it would not attack unless one stumbled into its web. Thinking of this, I exchanged a knowing smile with Dong Tong and Zhengyang: "Damn it, dealing with these creatures should be a piece of cake!"
Big Mouth Lee was running frantically, exclaiming, "Damn it, so many spiders! I can’t blame myself for this... Qiang, save me!" Later, I learned that Big Mouth Lee had once trampled on a young Burial Flower during his younger days with the old man, and he had been boasting about it ever since. If it weren't for the sudden appearance of the Blood Spider swarm, he might have ended up losing face at his grandmother's house!
Zhengyang pondered for a moment before saying, "Quickly use the Celestial Five Thunder Talisman!"
I hurriedly took out the Celestial Five Thunder Talisman, worried that it might have gotten wet along with my belongings and turned to mush. To my surprise, the Talisman was intact; I had no idea what material it was made from. At this point, I must mention that ordinary Yellow Talismans are made from straw and are fragile enough to dissolve in water. In contrast, the paper used for the Celestial Five Thunder Talisman is crafted through a secret method known only to a few and refined in an alchemical furnace.
I recited, "Qi! The earth like a copper furnace, rise..." At the same time, I formed a hand gesture with my fingers spread and thumb pressed against my palm. This technique is called Supreme Radiance Technique, specifically used by the Celestial Sect to ignite fire. With my hand inverted, I transformed my palm into a guiding finger for immortals and pointed at the Talisman, which ignited in flames from its top.
In truth, both the incantation and gesture are external forms; they do not fundamentally change anything. However, through this ritual, one can focus their mind more intently and achieve harmony between oneself and nature. As previously mentioned, the Talisman is merely a medium for human perception; once one's Spiritual Energy calls upon fire or water or even souls that exist in nature itself, it manifests through this medium. Cultivation is essentially about refining one's heart; true masters need no external forces to summon wind or rain at will!
Zhengyang randomly drew a fire assistance talisman and fixed his gaze on mine. In an instant, blue flames crawled over the Talisman like ants. I threw out my Yellow Talisman as he tossed his towards me. The two Talismans intertwined like vines and suddenly burst forth with light visible to the naked eye, transforming into two electric serpents that twisted around each other while crackling with countless sparks.
The fiery serpents quickly descended as flames spread rapidly before us, forming a wall of fire about one meter high. The Blood Spiders halted in their tracks, afraid to advance further. As flames soared higher, several fearless Blood Spiders rushed into the fire only to be met with crackling sounds... This display intimidated many more Blood Spiders behind them!
"Time is short! We need to hurry across to avoid these bugs," Zhengyang urged. He then climbed up like a monkey, using his fingers to grip tiny protrusions on the stone wall as if he were a gecko scaling it. Before long, he reached a platform about seven or eight meters high.
There was also a platform diagonally opposite us on the stone wall; behind it lay what appeared to be an entrance to a cave. A Strange Tree grew on the wall, twisting and curling as if it were ivy clinging to rock while stretching upward. It seemed that when we finally escaped, we would indeed rely on this Strange Tree.
Without hesitation, Zhengyang tossed down a thin rope that shimmered brightly in the light. He shouted loudly, "Hurry up! The fire is about to go out..." His voice barely reached us despite being only seven or eight meters away; Dong Tong struggled to read Zhengyang's lips and relay his message to us!
We followed the Rope, wrapping our palms in rags, braving the ancient cold winds. The air felt unsteady, as if we were unable to control our bodies, and it took considerable effort to climb onto the platform. Five of us huddled together, feeling somewhat cramped. At that moment, the flames on the ground extinguished, and a swarm of spiders surged toward us like a tidal wave.
Zhengyang saw that we had all made it up and drew out the Pure Jun Sword. He pulled back the Rope and secured it to the sword's hilt. With a flick of his wrist, he threw it diagonally across to the opposite side. The sword clashed against the wind mid-air, and after a flash of white light, it embedded itself halfway into the stone wall across from us. He tugged on the Rope and declared it secure. Then he instructed me to draw out the Azure Dark Sword and tie one end of the Rope to it before inserting it into the stone wall on our side. Without hesitation, Zhengyang wrapped the Rope in rags and swiftly crossed over to the other side.
Dong Tong looked at the Rope with evident confusion, clearly hesitant to cross. Big Mouth Lee and Bald Qiang were aware of what the Rope could do; they mimicked Zhengyang and climbed up to slide over to the opposite side.
I glanced at Dong Tong and couldn't help but laugh. "Are you afraid of heights? Or do you not trust the Rope?" She remained silent, and I thought to myself, "This girl usually has such a bold demeanor; it's surprising to see her hesitate!" So I said, "It's fine; just close your eyes and you'll be across in no time!" She seemed somewhat resigned but nodded in agreement. I helped her cover her eyes, gave her a gentle push from behind, and she was swept away by the wind, reaching the other side in no time.
Finally, it was my turn, and I felt quite nervous. I had only seen this kind of zip line on television while watching footage from Yunnan-Guizhou region. It was my first time on a zip line, so naturally, I felt a mix of anxiety and excitement!
I wrapped my hands around the cloth strips tightly, crouched slightly, and with a push forward, I launched myself onto the Rope, gliding toward the other side. The wind rushed past my ears as if piercing through layers of clouds. As one song goes, "…this feels like flying; this feels like freedom, dancing in the wind under a sky filled with stars…"
While sliding down, I stole a glance at the bottom of Rift Valley! The rocky walls gradually sloped downwards, revealing a river that resembled a Jade Belt winding through it. Surrounding it were numerous dead trees; this place must have once been an underground forest. Observing their lifeless state gave me an uneasy feeling—this did not seem like natural death; something was amiss.
As I glided over the valley's center, the temperature suddenly dropped sharply, and White Mist began to rise around me. Under its illumination, I seemed to see an incredibly grand architectural complex at the valley's bottom, all carved from massive stones—a dark and imposing black stone city that was impossible to fully discern. Soon enough, it was obscured by White Mist. Initially thinking it was just my imagination, I quickly dismissed that notion; this could not be an illusion.
Damn! Could that be the Nine-Tiered Corpse Tower built using materials from Nine Fiendish Tombs? Its grandeur was simply unimaginable. My heart raced with excitement… Just as I was about to reach the other side, someone shouted loudly, "Watch out! The Azure Dark Sword has come loose from the stone wall!"
The stone wall where the Azure Dark Sword had been embedded was already somewhat loose; with several people sliding past it, naturally, the sword dislodged. Just as my foot was about to land on solid ground, I heard a whoosh—a flash of Azure Light appeared before me. My face turned pale as I realized what was happening; I fell into the valley below…
