Hurry!
The speed was astonishingly fast!
It was unbelievable how quick it was!
Before my Azure Dark Sword could even be drawn, a flash of black light surged forward, and it lunged at me. I swung my left palm with all my might, aiming to strike its face. It retaliated with a red fork, and like a startled swan, I slashed my sword to break the fork in half, sending a spray of black blood everywhere, reeking horrifically. The creature seemed to be in immense pain, straightening up like an iron pillar and crashing down on me with the weight of a mountain. I couldn't withstand it and was thrown backward. The creature twisted its body, wrapping around me tightly, a chill seeping into my bones. I struggled to breathe, my face turning purple!
Something was very wrong!
The Mountain Spirit's Malevolence at level ten could use magical attacks but was weak in physical combat. Yet this thing relied solely on physical attacks; despite its incredible speed, it lacked any trace of spiritual energy.
What exactly was chasing me?
The creature lunged fiercely again, now coiling tightly around me, and began to exhale hot breath in my direction!
Its face was as large as a basin, with bulbous eyes and a mouth that stretched to its ears, revealing two fangs gleaming with cold light. Its body appeared to be made of thick lines—this was clearly a giant python! My heart sank; being ensnared by this giant snake meant I was done for!
It opened its massive maw wide, releasing a wave of black mist mixed with saliva that splattered across my face. The nauseating stench overwhelmed me, making it impossible to breathe! My face swelled purple as I pulled desperately at the python with both arms. Gradually, my resistance weakened; everything before me blurred—I was about to pass out!
"Crack!"
It bit down hard on one of my outstretched arms. In that instant, my entire arm went numb, pain coursing through me like electric currents. I let out a desperate roar; I had never felt so hopeless...
A flash of white light struck down like lightning, jolting the giant python violently. The white light flickered and charged again. Clearly pained by the impact, the python released me and shot upright like a pillar.
Bang!
Aah! Aah!
The giant python swung its long tail, sending that white light flying at least five or six meters away.
It was Furball, that incredibly fast flash of light; I finally saw it clearly!
Seizing the moment, I leaped up. I saw Furball trembling nearby; it was still too weak to resist such a monster. Although it was a Bai Ze, it was far too young. Looking at Furball's fragile form filled me with rage!
Just like the famous actor's explosive anger, this fury ignited a fire within my heart, making me feel as if my entire chest would burst! A terrifying power surged from my body. I raised the Azure Dark Sword and struck down at that creature.
My mind was blank, consciousness hazy. I swung the Azure Dark Sword with my chest fully exposed; this head-on approach surprisingly stunned the creature. It felt as if my body was filled with boundless strength. The sword flew like a meteor, falling like raindrops, its light crackling like thunder. The creature was utterly defenseless against my onslaught. It opened its mouth to roar but couldn't make a sound, continuously retreating.
I sensed a dark aura enveloping me, as if my body were drawing in Yang Qi from the surroundings. The air suddenly turned frigid, almost freezing. A wave of heat rapidly spread throughout my body, and the Azure Dark Sword emitted a ghostly glow. At that moment, my sword felt divinely guided. Striking that creature felt like cutting through tofu or slicing into cabbage! My sweat mixed with black blood as I brought it down, leaving it unrecognizable.
I had no idea how long had passed when a shadow leaped from behind me and wrapped around my waist, shouting, "Stop chopping it up! It's almost turned to mush!"
I continued to swing my sword wildly at the creature for another seven or eight minutes.
It stared blankly at me, clearly shocked by my earlier actions!
Before long, I finally calmed down. My arms felt numb and heavy as I collapsed onto the ground.
Did I lose my mind and unleash a strange power from within me? I suspected it was some spell I had unconsciously learned from "Mausoleum Secrets." At that moment, I didn't think much of it. The power was overwhelming, and I had no idea what side effects it might have!
I turned to look at the creature, now nothing more than a mass of flesh, bits of meat mixed with black blood. With a gasp, I began to vomit uncontrollably. It was then that I realized just how insane I had become.
Big Mouth Lee and Bald Qiang grabbed my arms and legs, kneading and squeezing me carefully. After their ministrations, my body gradually returned to normal, the swelling and pain subsiding! "You haven't lost your touch, Old Man Xia!" As soon as the words left my mouth, Bald Qiang was yanked hard by Big Mouth Lee! Bald Qiang quickly asked, "Are you feeling better now?"
Not far away, Zhengyang squatted on the ground, using his Shrimp Whisker Sword to poke at several large chunks of flesh. "Come take a look at what you killed."
"Isn't this a Monster?" I thought it was the true form of a Monster.
Zhengyang shook his head. "No! There has never been a Monster that looks like a snake!"
"A snake demon?" Big Mouth Lee and I said in unison.
For a snake to cultivate into a demon, it must undergo a long process. If a snake lives for over a hundred years, horns will grow on its head. After another hundred years, it will develop human facial features. After three hundred years, it will gain a human upper body, and after five hundred years, it can fully transform into a human. Only then can the snake demon begin to harm people!
Zhengyang shook his head in confusion. "Clearly, it resembles a snake demon, but it is definitely not one!"
"If I'm not mistaken, it's a Sand Hammer!"
"A Sand Hammer!"
I rummaged through my backpack for "Mausoleum Secrets," and indeed found an entry on the Sand Hammer: "Sand Hammer: red eyes, black body, snake form!" This creature was sinister; it was neither animal nor plant. Instead, it was akin to the White Bone Lady's relative. It was formed from the spinal bones of many people fused together, absorbing Killing Intent from the earth to become this monster. It took on the shape of a snake, making it easy to mislead cultivators!
Zhengyang slowly said, "The conditions for this thing to form are extremely rare. If there is no human intervention, it is almost impossible for it to form in nature!"
The Sand Hammer itself belongs to the human race. It was created by practitioners who connected human vertebrae in a 'long snake formation' and then fed it the blood of living people. It takes at least three hundred years, or even thousands, to develop into a substantial entity. If one wishes to cultivate it in just a few years, there is only one method: to refine it in a Mass Grave. Once this entity takes shape, it can transform into a human form, luring people into Quicksand and then completely devouring them!
After Zhengyang's analysis, we all suddenly understood!
I recounted my encounter with the Melon Old Man behind the oasis to everyone and led them to the Dune. Under the moonlight, I looked out and was instantly dumbfounded. Where was there any Hami melon field? It was nothing but an endless expanse of Quicksand. The Quicksand was piled high with skulls—thousands of them!
We gasped in horror, cold sweat breaking out on our backs. What I had seen as Hami melons were merely a vast array of skulls. That Melon Old Man was none other than the Sand Hammer!
Zhengyang also gasped, his eyes twitching.
"This is the Sandy Grave; it means we have already entered the radiation range of the Nine-Tiered Corpse Tower!"
"Sandy Grave!"
According to the Mausoleum Secrets, "the so-called Graveyard is due to the reversal of the Leyline's energy field, which drives away all Yang Qi, gradually leaving only Eerie Energy that accumulates without dispersing. Within a ten-mile radius, no living beings remain; villages become ruins... Similarly, Sandy Grave is a Graveyard in the desert!"
"I am certain that those people in Quicksand died suddenly overnight!"
"Fierce!" Big Mouth Lee's eyes widened.
"Can we understand it this way? The people in this Sandy Grave died for the purpose of refining the Sand Hammer?" Dong Tong, who had been silent for a long time, hit the nail on the head with this statement.
"Well! That works too!"
"In that case, did someone specifically create this Sandy Grave to cultivate the Sand Hammer?"
"Not necessarily. It can also be understood that the Sandy Grave is a component of the Nine-Tiered Corpse Tower. The Sand Hammer is merely a guardian of this Sandy Grave!"
Zhengyang paused, and I suddenly realized why there wasn't a single soul within twenty miles of this oasis—not even the shadow of a bird!
"Since this Sandy Grave is part of the Nine-Tiered Corpse Tower, if we release the Corpse Qi, will it reduce the Killing Intent of the Corpse Tower?" I pondered for a moment before asking.
In simpler terms, it's akin to opening a sealed room for ventilation, allowing fresh air to circulate and completely expelling the foul atmosphere. The Corpse Qi is like a spring, continuously emerging from underground; if we can release it cleanly, the Killing Intent will diminish!
I once read my grandfather's diary, which recorded a story. In a remote mountain village surrounded by peaks, the scenery was exceptionally beautiful. Yet, despite its charm, the village was sparsely populated. Since its establishment three hundred years ago with three hundred people, every time a child was born, an elder would die. Thus, the population remained around three hundred. Some believed the village was cursed; others thought it was due to bad feng shui. A geomancer named Li Gedan was invited to assess the situation. After his observations, he found no issues with the feng shui; in fact, it was an excellent site for nurturing future generations. There was no trace of evil energy detected through the compass.
After more than ten field studies in various villages, I learned the truth from an elderly villager. The ancestral graves were situated before a river. Normally, rivers nourish both yin and yang and dispel evil energy. However, after the graves were established, descendants built earthen mounds along the riverbank that completely isolated the Eerie Energy. The external Yang Qi could not enter, and the Eerie Energy from the ancestral graves could not escape. When new life entered the village, it disrupted this balance. Consequently, one person had to die to replenish the Eerie Energy. This was a relatively mild graveyard situation; while it caused harm to individuals, its ferocity was still quite frightening.
We five exchanged glances and surprisingly reached a unanimous decision!
"Let's dig it up!" we all exclaimed in unison!
