That night, I spent the entire time lost in thought. When I finally woke up, it was already bright outside. With a belly full of questions, I sought out Zhengyang and bombarded him with inquiries. Zhengyang, however, was straightforward and simply replied, "I have no idea!" 0

Next, I went to consult the old man. That old fox just smiled and said, "Take it one step at a time; wait until your appetite for knowledge grows!" 0

I then approached Lu Jianguo, but he shook his head repeatedly, claiming he knew nothing. I felt as if they were hiding something from me, yet I couldn't press them further. 0

Regardless, my experience with the recent battle was less than satisfactory. However, I finally had my own weapon. The Azure Dark Sword, while a tier below the Pure Jun Sword, could still be considered a national treasure. I had seen many swords before, but none compared to the Azure Dark Sword in their hands; it brought me immense joy. This sword lay comfortably in my embrace. The Azure Dark Sword on television looked like something bought online with cheap special effects—what kind of treasure was that? 0

Zhengyang somehow found a scabbard for me. It had a simple design, seemingly made of rhinoceros hide and adorned with a few jewels. When I tried it, the sword fit perfectly into the scabbard. Delighted, I thanked him and happily took the scabbard back to my room. 0

Days passed, and before I knew it, it was May 23rd. My wallet was getting thinner by the day. Just my hospital stay had consumed half my savings, and with trips to Maoshan and Baisha Village ahead of me, money was running low. With June 6th fast approaching, finding a job in such a short time seemed impossible. 0

A penny can be a hero's downfall; if this continued, I'd surely starve. My father was abroad for nearly a year on an academic visit. Besides, I had started working; it wouldn't do to ask my family for money again. As for marriage arrangements—he would definitely scold me mercilessly! 0

Old Man Li noticed my troubled expression and asked with a knowing smile, "Xia, I guess you're out of money?" I nodded; after all, I couldn't ask the old man for cash. "Today is May 23rd; there’s still more than ten days until June 6th. The people from Qingyunzi won't arrive anytime soon." 0

"How about this: help me with one task, and you'll earn half a year's salary. What do you think?" My heart leaped at the prospect but then hesitated—was this high profit from drug trafficking? Old Man Li must have sensed my hesitation because he chuckled and said, "It's just driving; delivering a package!" 0

My heart sank—could it really be smuggling drugs? "No way! You have some Daoist practice now; just help me deliver a God of Joy home!" 0

The God of Joy originally referred to portraits, like the Song Dynasty's Plum Blossom God of Joy chart; it also indicated likenesses in general. Ancestor portraits are difficult to create; likenesses are prepared for posthumous enshrinement in ancestral halls. Gradually, God of Joy came to specifically refer to memorial portraits of the deceased. Thus, delivering a God of Joy home meant transporting a corpse! 0

The state advocates cremation; transporting corpses without permission is illegal. However, seeing my wallet deflate further made this opportunity too tempting to pass up. 0

No wonder I thought this old man didn't seem like a good person—an outspoken atheist who turned out to be in this line of work! I stared at him intently until he handed me a key for tonight's departure along with an address. Reluctantly accepting my fate under these circumstances was unavoidable. 0

"The bolder you are, the more you can gain! June 6th is still far off! If you're going to Desert Eye, you need to toughen up and earn some money!" Old Man Li said cheerfully as he patted me on the back. I shook my head helplessly. 0

Soon night fell; around eleven o'clock, Old Man Li provided me with an address for picking up the God of Joy. 0

When I saw that the vehicle was a gold cup van, my brows furrowed—it turned out that all this time I'd been driving hearses! 0

The person accompanying me felt familiar—it was Huang Mao from Qingyunzi. Since Qingyunzi ascended to immortality, Huang Mao decided to make his own way and came to Rongcheng to start anew. Out of respect for an old friendship, Old Man Li let Huang Mao drive. Perhaps Huang Mao had some affinity for the God of Joy; he had surprisingly grown fond of this profession! 0

This time we were headed to a villa area where an elderly businessman named Dong resided—he owned properties nationwide. According to Huang Mao, this old man passed away far from home and wished to return his remains for burial—a request that naturally couldn't be publicized. Soon enough, Old Man Li caught wind of it and assured the deceased's family that he would safely escort them to their destination. 0

Before long, we entered the Rongshan villa area and parked the car securely! 0

I entered the villa with Huang Mao, and Old Dong was already placed in a coffin. It was a makeshift coffin, not very heavy. Huang Mao and I were treated like servants, being scolded by the family. I could only shake my head helplessly; after all, the customer is always right. We lifted the coffin and tossed it into the trunk of the Golden Cup Car before I drove away. 0

After we reached the villa area, Huang Mao started cursing loudly, berating Old Dong's family from their ancestors to the present. Fortunately, there were no relatives following us! Only those damn relatives would dare to tag along in a car like this! "Sorry about that!" came a hoarse and deep voice. 0

"Huang Mao, did you hear that voice?" 0

"No!" 0

"Then it must be my tinnitus!" I didn't pay much attention to what Huang Mao said. 0

We were headed to Hukou Village, which was about two hundred miles from Rongcheng. It would take us around five hours to get there. Naturally, I didn’t dare take the highway; we were driving on provincial roads that twisted and turned, dark as night with no pedestrians in sight. The villages outside the window flashed by like distant stars. 0

In the dead of night, our car traveled down a secluded road, and both Huang Mao and I felt uneasy. That idiot Huang Mao started belting out, "Love should grow stronger through adversity; love requires affirmation and persistence! Every single person must see through it; if you want to love, don’t fear the pain..." He was singing so passionately that tears streamed down his face. 0

As he sang, we spotted a long-haired woman standing by the roadside. Her hair was disheveled, she wore white clothes that were filthy, and she waved at us. To my surprise, Huang Mao actually drove toward her! 0

As we got closer and the headlights illuminated her figure, I noticed she had a shadow and emitted no eerie energy; it was clear she was alive. However, I couldn’t see her face as it was completely obscured. Her figure was attractive though; I could vaguely see her grinning widely from behind her hair! 0

When Huang Mao finally stopped the car, the woman unceremoniously pulled open the door and swiftly hopped into the back seat. She kept laughing to herself, saying it was fun. 0

"Miss, where are you headed?" Huang Mao asked excitedly, thinking this might be a chance encounter! He climbed from the driver’s seat to the back seat and told me to drive. Not wanting to make things awkward for myself, I simply took my place in the driver’s seat and started driving. 0

As soon as Huang Mao settled in, I slammed on the gas pedal, and the car shot forward. It was late at night with an empty road; if we weren’t speeding, what would be the point? We flew over several potholes! The bumps made Huang Mao and the woman scream! 0

"Drive more steadily; you’re going to kill me!" Huang Mao yelled at me before turning to the woman. He pulled out an apple from somewhere, wiped it on his sleeve, and handed it to her with a grin. "Miss, where are you going?" 0

"To the crematorium." 0

"We're also headed to the crematorium; it's on our way!" Huang Mao laughed. At that moment, I faintly heard an old voice say, "Hey! I'm not going to the crematorium!" Thinking it was just my tinnitus again, I didn’t pay much attention. 0

"Why are you going to the crematorium?" Huang Mao asked foolishly. I couldn't believe he would say something so inappropriate; I thought to myself, "Damn it, don’t let me know you when we’re out here!" 0

"I live there," she replied languidly. 0

The girl seemed to have a crush on me as she handed over the yellow-haired guy's apple with a charming smile. "Big brother! Want an apple?" The yellow-haired guy's face turned green, glaring at me fiercely. I realized it was his apple, hidden on this Golden Cup Car, all wilted and dirty. I quickly replied, "I don't like apples!" 0

She retracted her hand. "Oh. Then I'll eat it! I used to love apples when I was alive." I was taken aback by her words, thinking, "What the hell! Am I destined to summon ghosts? With Ghost Infant and Ali being so eerie, even the Jealous Woman Ghost must have some Eerie Energy! How is it possible that I can't see any? Just how high is her Daoist Practice?" The more I thought about it, the more uneasy I felt. I formed a hand gesture and chanted a spell, tracing my finger under my brow and opening my eyes. Looking closely in the rearview mirror at the girl, I still saw nothing unusual. "Damn it! I'm really unlucky; even driving can lead me to such a powerful Demon!" With that thought in mind, I slammed on the brakes. When I glanced at the rearview mirror again, both the Demon and the yellow-haired guy had vanished. 0

"I can't take this anymore! I'm going to use my Azure Dark Sword to slay some ghosts!" 0

Just then, I looked in the rearview mirror again; the yellow-haired guy and that woman were both bloodied and nearly crying. The woman said, "Just now, you jolted the apple out of place with your sudden stop. Big Brother Huang Mao and I were picking up the apple together, and we bumped our heads... I used to love eating apples before giving birth." 0

"Are you kidding me? Girl, you need to be clearer; you might scare someone to death!" 0

"Crazy!" 0

The girl reached a village entrance and asked us to stop. There was an old man standing by the roadside with a lantern. After she got out of the car, they walked off together. Her voice floated back through the window, "Dad, hurry up! I suspect those two driving are crazy; I'm going to Huo Cang Cang, and they're heading to the crematorium!" 0

"Wow, what a false alarm!" I accelerated the car and continued driving. I've seen enough ghost stories; if she wasn't a ghost, she would definitely be a lunatic who escaped from an asylum! Little did I know that in others' eyes, I was just as much of a lunatic. 0

"It's all your fault for being so lecherous!" Huang Mao complained to me. 0

"Come on, this has nothing to do with me!" I couldn't be bothered to argue with someone like him. 0

"Hey! Can you drive faster? Don't waste my auspicious time!" That old voice came through again, clear as day this time for both Huang Mao and me. There was no one else in the car besides us; unless that voice came from a coffin, we both instinctively shouted out loud together, "There's a ghost!" 0
