"Xia, someone is trying to harm you; the Demon Child is just a tool for hitting!"
I looked at Lu Jianguo's sincere expression, and he truly had no reason to lie to me. In this regard, I seemed to trust him completely! I nodded and asked Lu Jianguo how he knew so much about ghosts and monsters, and he briefly explained it to me.
"My great-grandfather's ancestor was Yang Gong from the Tang Dynasty, who passed down the Secret Technique. Therefore, I have some knowledge about feng shui and locating burial sites!" He then simply introduced the story of Yang Gong.
Yang Gong, whose name was Yi and courtesy name was Yang Jun Song, was known as Yang Jiupin. It is said that during the reign of Emperor Ming of Tang, he discovered a high mountain in Hedong Wenxi with a favorable terrain, where the mountains were majestic, the soil was rich, and the water was deep, surrounded by lush vegetation. Thus, he concluded that this place had abundant dragon energy. Surprisingly, a tomb had already been excavated there; he determined that it must have been done by a remarkable person. After secretly visiting, he found the burial site expert Qiu Yanhang, who authored works like Mechanism and Jade Covering Classic. The two met and quickly became close friends, sharing their knowledge with Yang Gong.
To prevent the secrets from being leaked, Yang Gong used a special potion to write both books on white cloth, naming it the Secret Technique. The text could only be revealed under a rhinoceros horn lamp. It is said that whenever he needed to assess feng shui Dragon Veins, Yang Gong would light an Iron Lantern and refer to the Big Dipper Seven Stars while consulting the Secret Technique to analyze maps and determine feng shui. If an evil person was buried in a favorable feng shui location, Yang Gong would take up his whip at midnight to drive away that person's feng shui. Because he often helped the poor and needy, he was called Yang Jiupin.
Books on feng shui like Secret Technique, Jade Covering Classic, Copper Box Classic, Li Qi Xin Yin, Yaoqi Xiduan, Sand Divination Classic, Teng Ling Formula, Star Sand Rhapsody, Geographical Authenticity, Geographical Identification, and Geology Essentials were thoroughly studied by Lu Jianguo.
"The Ghost Infant is indeed buried in Corpse Raising Ground, but its body has been tampered with!" Lu Jianguo pondered thoughtfully as I looked on in confusion; he explained it to me again.
Corpse Raising Ground can be explained using geographical knowledge: the soil there has an extremely unbalanced pH level that is unsuitable for organic matter to grow; thus, ants and bacteria do not thrive there. Even after a hundred years, corpses will not decay—muscles and hair remain intact. Some data even suggests that hair and nails continue to grow in Corpse Raising Ground. For example, "Dead Cow Belly Cave" can produce purple hair; "Dog Skull Cave" can produce white hair; "Broken Surface Pattern" can yield Uncorrupted Bones; "Carp Spine Sand Cave" can produce lurking fish.
According to Mausoleum Secrets: "Xin Lai Long, Yi Jian Mao facing the river of Chou Gen Lai Shui, Xun Si Qu. The site violates eight evils of Yellow Springs." This statement is akin to being situated on a river island where mud accumulates significantly after floods recede! Eerie Energy is similar to this mud; as it accumulates more and more, it becomes Corpse Raising Ground.
"This Ghost Infant has been buried in Corpse Raising Ground for at most one or two years. How could it be so vicious?"
"This is a calamity corpse; it involves burying ten generations of Bones together in the same Corpse Raising Ground to nurture a Ghost Infant. In the Secret Technique, this is referred to as Yin Sha Yang Shi."
"No wonder they use infants for refinement; otherwise, ten generations would take at least five hundred years!"
"Exactly. Yin Sha Yang Shi was seen during the Yellow Emperor's battle against Chiyou when someone witnessed an adult calamity corpse. But for nearly five hundred years now, all Yin Sha Yang Shi have been Ghost Infants!"
According to Star Sand Rhapsody's records on Yin Sha Yang Shi—an ancient sorcery from Chiyou's time—using the remains of a person's previous nine lives arranged in formation to nourish the tenth generation's corpse allows one to absorb Eerie Energy exponentially. Each year of burial equates to absorbing a hundred years' worth of Eerie Energy. Every year on Yang Gong Day is a calamity day; every anniversary is a major calamity day. After ten years of this practice, when they break ground again, it will surely lead to disaster.
"Fortunately that person was impatient; otherwise Xia would have returned to her grandmother's house!"
"In that case, I fear I won't survive this year's Yang Gong Day?"
The so-called Yang Gong Day falls on the twenty-eighth of each month. It is said that Yang Gong had thirteen sons who were all incredibly wealthy. Proudly boasting about his sons' wealth, he claimed that even if one died each month, they could still accompany him until New Year! After hearing this boastful claim, the Jade Emperor became furious and decreed that one son should die each month. That year happened to have an extra month—thirteen months in total—so by New Year’s Eve, all his sons had perished before they could celebrate together. Henceforth, every twenty-eighth day of each month became known as Yang Gong Day—a day of great misfortune.
"Maybe! If we can find the Corpse Raising Ground and break the Yin Sha Yang Shi, we can get through this calamity!"
"Uncle Lu, it's up to you to decide what to do! I'll follow your instructions completely." I had completely surrendered to Lu Jianguo; this complex and profound theory of Feng Shui left me utterly confused.
Lu Jianguo patted my shoulder and advised me to focus on recovering from my injuries. He said we could look for the Corpse Raising Ground once I was healed.
About three days later, I was discharged from the hospital, and my injuries had mostly healed.
I pulled out my phone and called Lu Jianguo. He answered but didn't say anything. After a moment of silence, I managed to say, "Uncle Lu, let's meet for dinner tonight and talk!" He readily agreed and even prepared a gift for me. Uncle Lu was a straightforward person and not very skilled in socializing, which I understood.
That night, I didn't invite anyone else. I initially planned to take Uncle Lu to a nicer restaurant, but he insisted on going to a local eatery he was familiar with. He preferred it there because he felt comfortable eating there. I understood that he wanted to save me some money since I had been unemployed for over a month and was still owed a month's salary.
Since losing my job, misfortunes had been piling up. Fortunately, I still had some savings that could last me for several months.
When we arrived at the eatery, Uncle Lu finally relaxed. I ordered some barbecue and boiled fish along with a few bottles of cold beer. As we ate heartily, Uncle Lu began to open up.
During the meal, I asked him again about the situation regarding the Yin Sha Yang Shi. Uncle Lu explained that I needed to first locate where the Ghost Infant was buried. After that, we would have to eliminate the Ghost Infant's True Body to eradicate the threat completely!
The Ghost Infant is a being with both soul and body; after being nourished by ten corpses, its body becomes a vessel. Regardless of how severely either the soul or body is damaged, as long as it returns to the Ten Corpses Formation, it can recover. If we don't destroy the body, even if we manage to shatter the Ghost Infant's soul, it will eventually reconstitute itself over time!
No wonder this time the Ghost Infant remained so defiant even after being half-destroyed by the Doomsayer. To truly defeat an enemy, one must annihilate them physically to eliminate them spiritually.
"The current Ghost Infant hasn't fully developed yet, so its range of activity is quite limited—about twenty kilometers or so. If it exceeds this range, its strength will significantly diminish."
The distance from my rented apartment to Twisted Alley was roughly ten kilometers. Lu Jianguo and I took out our phones and checked the map. We roughly outlined a circle on it. The center of that circle seemed to be in the outskirts of Poet Bay, where there was a high mountain called Helmet Mountain. From this mountain, one could overlook Rongcheng entirely.
Rongcheng is associated with the Xun Dragon among the three major dragons; it lies by the mountains near the sea and is adjacent to plains with mountains surrounding it on both sides—an ideal Feng Shui location. In Feng Shui terms: Left Green Dragon, Right White Tiger, Front Vermilion Bird, Back Black Tortoise. Additionally, there are islands at water mouths that enhance its excellent Feng Shui.
The dragon's path primarily flows through Drum Tower District; passing through Meilin Temple and the Governor's Office marks its head while its residual energy flows southward and eastward toward a crucial spot—that is where the dragon pearl lies.
However, Poet Bay lies under the claws of this dragon in Rongcheng; its Feng Shui is extremely ominous. Located on the Shadow Side of Helmet Mountain, this place was originally named Dead Man's Bay. It faces away from sunlight year-round and is shrouded in mist. The Green Dragon sand is short while the White Tiger sand is long; Yin Sha gathers here all year round—making it a place of great misfortune. Consequently, several development attempts have ended in failure.
We chatted in the food stall until around three or four in the morning before heading back for a brief rest. As we were leaving, Uncle Lu packed up all the Chicken Bones, and I assumed he had a dog at home, so I didn’t ask further. Before dawn, Lu Jianguo invited me to Helmet Mountain. The mountain was shrouded in mist and the air was chilly, so I had to put on a jacket. I wore my coat while he carried a bundle, standing at the highest point of Helmet Mountain, with Poet's Gully laid out before us.
“Look at the terrain here,” Lu Jianguo said. “Poet's Gully curves around in an arc, and right in the middle, Catfish Creek flows into Poet's Gully. There’s a row of Sophora Trees along the bank that perfectly seals off this arc.”
“Is this what they call the Graveyard?” I asked, my eyes widening as I became somewhat entranced.
I remembered that Mausoleum Secrets mentioned the Graveyard, which is also called Yin Yan! This was actually quite understandable. It’s similar to how river channels always have a meandering section that easily blocks floating debris. Or think of it as a pocket that only collects Yin Sha energy without releasing it. To illustrate further, it’s like inflating a bicycle tire; once the air goes in, it gets trapped by the valve and cannot leak out at all!
“Hmm, you’ve got it right!” Lu Jianguo nodded in satisfaction. “Our Three Yuan Astrology Sect indeed refers to this type of terrain as ‘Graveyard’!”
“Three Yuan Astrology Sect?”
“Hehe! In today’s world, there are ten great schools of divination known as the Ten Great Vajras; my great-grandfather insisted I memorize them!” Lu Jianguo seemed to realize he had misspoken and quickly explained what he meant by the Ten Great Vajras.
The so-called Ten Great Vajras are the ten major feng shui schools today. They include the Correct Five Elements Sect based on the Five Elements Essentials, the Folk Sanhe School based on the Demon-Exterminating Scripture, the Lai Gong San He Sect based on the Promoting Officials Chapter, the You Nian Eight Mansions School based on the Yang Residence Compendium, the Dragon Gate Eight Mansions School based on Heaven and Earth National Treasure, the Golden Lock Sect based on Golden Lock and Jade Pass, Qimen Fengshui based on Qimen Dunjia, Six Ren Feng Shui School based on Burial Classic, Luo Shu Flying Star School based on Xuan Kong, and finally, Three Yuan Astrology Sect based on Secret Technique.
“Almost there! Excluding Ghost Infant counts as a gift from me to you!”
As we prepared to take action against Corpse Raising Ground, my fear outweighed my curiosity…
