"Alright!" I looked at Big Mouth Lee and gave him a thumbs up. "I need to borrow your body to summon the gods, damn it!" I glared at him and shouted, "You old hag, last time you summoned the gods, you did it using your own body!" Big Mouth Lee laughed, "This god is fierce; my fate can't handle it!" With that, he didn't care whether I agreed or not. 0

The Ghost Infant was a malevolent spirit, and naturally, I couldn't confront it directly. However, if I wanted to deal with it, the only option was to invite someone else to handle it. 0

Summoning gods is quite similar to performing a shamanistic ritual. Modern medical science explains "summoning gods" as a form of identity hysteria experienced by shamans or mediums after consuming excessive amounts of anesthetic substances. However, in reality, summoning gods is based on Taoist theories. It operates on principles similar to energy mediation through talismans. By borrowing a person's body and using incantations, one can reach an agreement with the deities, harnessing their energy and consciousness to eliminate evil spirits. 0

There are three hundred sixty righteous deities and one hundred animal spirits this week. The righteous deities are those who have cultivated for many years. The animal spirits are formed from animals that have cultivated themselves, such as foxes and various other creatures. Among the deities, there is a mix of both righteous and malevolent ones. If you summon a malevolent spirit, while it may help you deal with your current troubles, it's notoriously difficult to send them away once they’ve been summoned; they won’t leave without extracting a hefty price. 0

Assuming you summon a righteous deity, whether they will help you is uncertain. Even if they do assist you, whether they can withstand the Ghost Infant remains unknown. There are many intricacies involved in this process, with various nuances to consider. Therefore, major sects typically summon their own Ancestor Masters. Ancestor Masters protect their disciples but are not guaranteed to respond to every request. Each year, one can only summon them once or twice at most. 0

At this moment, the Ghost Infant was clearly an evil spirit, so I needed to summon someone more powerful than it to subdue it. However, if my divination skills were lacking, it wouldn’t matter which deity I summoned; the outcome would be beyond my control. 0

All of this took only a few seconds in reality. 0

Big Mouth Lee used a different method for summoning this time. He performed a strange step pattern that resembled a goose waddling along the ground, circling around me three times while chanting, "All warriors gather before me," and made the Nine Character Mantra gesture. He then switched to Yubu and loudly recited the incantation: "Spirit spirits, earth spirits! Bestow blessings and reveal your power! Ancestor's divine presence appears… Urgently as commanded!" 0

Yubu, also known as stepping on the battle array, is said to resemble the limping gait of Dayu when he controlled the floods due to his leg disability. This step follows the rhythm of Taoist music and aligns with celestial constellations according to the Nine Palaces and Bagua diagrams; by stepping in accordance with these patterns, one can ascend spiritually. 0

Once the summoning incantation was complete, Big Mouth Lee shouted loudly, "Reveal your power before the altar!" Suddenly, I saw a burst of white mist rise up, and a shadow appeared out of thin air. It moved in an awkward manner—hunched over and barely five feet tall—with disheveled hair and a mournful expression that made it look utterly miserable. As that white mist dissipated, I felt myself being lifted into the air. My body became grotesque in appearance; even I found it repulsive. 0

"Doomsayer?" Big Mouth Lee's face fell as I couldn't help but laugh despite myself. 0

The Doomsayer, also known as the Broom Star among the thirty-six deities and Buddhas, is a solitary figure that everyone avoids—people flee from it like it's bad luck incarnate. Even malevolent spirits like the Drought Demon fear its presence. 0

As soon as the Doomsayer appeared on stage, the Ghost Infant's expression changed dramatically as if sensing an immense threat. The Doomsayer remained calm and approached the Ghost Infant slowly. It extended its fist before opening it wide. A burst of gray-purple light erupted forth; upon contact with this gray-purple light, the lower half of the Ghost Infant shattered like ice cubes—pieces scattering everywhere amidst swirling purple light. 0

What followed was a chilling scream that sent shivers down my spine! 0

The Doomsayer was indeed sharp-witted and terrifying… 0

The Ghost Infant glared at me fiercely before quickly escaping through the doorway with swift movements until it vanished from sight in an instant. 0

"Quick, chase after him!" Big Mouth Lee shouted impatiently at Doomsayer. 0

"Damn it!" To his surprise, the words came from Doomsayer's mouth. Big Mouth Lee was momentarily stunned. "Hahaha!" He laughed so hard that he couldn't straighten up, his mouth nearly twisting in the process. 0

As the saying goes, "It's easy to invite a god but hard to send him away." Especially for a bird-like deity like Doomsayer, who was rarely summoned—only once every few hundred years. If he didn't take this opportunity to make some profit, he wouldn't leave. 0

Doomsayer and Big Mouth Lee exchanged a few more words, and Big Mouth Lee's face turned ashen. Then, Doomsayer spoke kindly to him for a while, and Big Mouth Lee forced a smile, nodding repeatedly. 0

After that, my vision went dark, and I fell into a deep sleep. When I woke up, it was already the next morning! 0

I found myself lying on Big Mouth Lee's sofa. He was nowhere to be found early in the morning. I stood up, feeling a tingling sensation throughout my body and slightly unsteady on my feet. The events of last night flooded back to me, making me feel uneasy all over. Furball had also been injured last night; its body was covered in blood. I opened my backpack and was surprised to see that its scars had completely healed. 0

I put on my backpack and tried to call Big Mouth Lee, but his phone was off. I left him a message on WeChat before stepping out the door. Just then, a truck sped by, splashing the puddles from last night all over me and soaking my pants. I cursed under my breath, "Damn it! Can't you drive properly?" Little did I know, this was just the beginning of my misfortune. 0

I found a roadside stall and grabbed some breakfast. Perhaps the food wasn't clean enough because as soon as I swallowed it, sharp pains shot through my abdomen. I tossed ten yuan on the table without waiting for change and dashed toward the public restroom. 0

In Rongcheng, public restrooms are scarce; some are still like the pit toilets from the 70s and 80s—foul-smelling and risky to use. There have been numerous reports of people falling into them. The old city renovation plan only covers the folk street before Zhong Kui Temple; beyond that lies Godstick Street, neglected and forgotten. 0

I hurriedly found the nearest public restroom and rushed in without noticing the warning sign on the door. In just a few steps, I entered the restroom. To my shock, the floor was made of wood with just a hole in the middle. 0

As soon as I stepped on it, I heard a cracking sound as if something had broken. At that moment, I couldn't care less; all I heard were more cracking noises. "What the hell!" My feet slipped, and before I knew it, I fell through as the wooden planks shattered beneath me with a loud crash. "What bad luck!" Thankfully, I managed to grab onto the door frame with one hand while one shoe fell off into the abyss below. I quickly scrambled back up and dashed out in a panic! 0

Only then did I notice the warning sign that read: "Dangerous restroom—do not use; consequences are your own responsibility!" Luckily, no one saw me. Outside by the faucet, I washed my hands repeatedly. Since one shoe was lost, I bought a pair of flip-flops nearby to wear instead. But that wasn't all; strange events kept happening. 0

It seemed that I had indeed been possessed by Doomsayer; my luck had hit rock bottom. In fact, I was supposed to find Zhou Daming today. Yet within half an hour of leaving home, calamity struck! 0

I boarded a bus but hadn’t gone two stops when an elderly lady staged an accident with it! I wasn't mistaken; she threw herself onto the bus and claimed her leg was injured from being hit, demanding compensation from the driver. The driver asked everyone to get off while he dealt with her situation. It had nothing to do with me at first. But as soon as I got off, she grabbed me and insisted that I was her son who needed to help her "scam" for money! After much effort, I finally managed to escape her clutches. 0

Stumbling along, I finally arrived at Zhou Daming's house only to find he had already left for work. So I wandered around a nearby park! As I noticed some bushes rustling continuously with sounds of movement, out of professional habit, I kicked at them hard. "Ouch!" Something bit down on my foot. 0

"Whoa! A snake!" Snakes terrified me more than anything else; when it bit me on the foot, my vision went black and I fainted instantly. A triangular-headed Spotted Snake bit me once before slithering away. 0

When I woke up, I found myself in a hospital. It was with the help of a security guard from the park that I was brought here. They had notified Zhou Daming and the old man through my frequently contacted numbers in my phone. 0

The old man and Zhou Daming rushed to the hospital, and only after seeing me injected with Snake Venom Antivenom did they feel somewhat relieved. During a routine examination, the doctor scolded, "How could you wait until you're this badly hurt to come to the hospital?" After a fierce battle with the Ghost Infant last night, my body was severely injured. 0

The old man looked gloomy as he stood outside smoking. He was scolded by a passing nurse and hurriedly lowered his head and went to the stairwell. Zhou Daming, seeing that I had woken up, was almost in tears. "Your career is not yet successful; you can't get into trouble now!" I looked at Zhou Daming, feeling a surge of emotion. 0

Before long, the old man returned with someone else—Lu Jianguo. Lu Jianguo placed some fruit aside, his face dark and heavy, as if something serious was about to happen. The old man and Zhou Daming sat down as well. I recounted in detail what had happened last night. Lu Jianguo remained silent for a long time before finally speaking. 0

"Xia! In my opinion, we need to cut the grass and remove the roots!" 0

"Yes! It's a pity that the Ghost Infant got away! Now I don't know where to find it!" 0

"I think this Ghost Infant is not simple. Someone must have placed a Blood Curse on you!" 0

"Blood Curse?" 0

"No matter where it hides, I will drag it out and take revenge for you!" A strange glint flashed across Lu Jianguo's dark face before disappearing. 0

Indeed, it was thanks to Lu Jianguo's appearance that I narrowly escaped the clutches of the Ghost Infant! 0
