“Hmm~~” Qu Liang heard the sounds coming from outside the door, her heart racing wildly. She instinctively swallowed and tightly gripped the talisman in her hand.
“Breathe, breathe, don’t panic. I have so many talismans here; there’s nothing to be afraid of!” Qu Liang took a few deep breaths, forcing herself to calm down. She stood up and walked to the door, flinging it open and shouting, “Who’s sneaking around out there? Show yourself!”
Qu Liang stood at the doorway, not stepping outside. She leaned her head out into the corridor and spotted a woman in her thirties holding a flashlight, anxiously scanning the surroundings. This woman was Zhou Shujuan, the counselor from Qu Liang’s academy.
Zhou Shujuan looked into Qu Liang’s eyes and waved her hand, her expression filled with concern. “Qu Liang, why aren’t you listening? Come with me; we need to leave the dormitory building and get out of the school quickly.”
Upon hearing Zhou Shujuan’s words, a smile appeared on Qu Liang's face. She shook her head firmly and replied, “Teacher Zhou, it’s dangerous outside right now. You should leave here. I’ll be fine on my own.”
After saying this, Qu Liang turned back into her dormitory and reached for the door to close it. Zhou Shujuan’s expression changed as she rushed forward, blocking the door just before it shut. “No! I can’t just watch you get killed! Qu Liang, I must take you away!”
“Hmph! You want to take me away? Fine! Come inside!” Qu Liang suddenly yanked the dormitory door open wide and grabbed Zhou Shujuan by the arm, forcefully pulling her into the room.
Zhou Shujuan had been leaning against the door; now, with Qu Liang pulling her in that direction, she didn’t have time to react before being dragged into Qu Liang’s dormitory filled with Silver Talismans. Once Zhou Shujuan was inside, Qu Liang quickly locked the door behind them, cutting off Zhou Shujuan’s escape route.
“Ah! Qu Liang, what are you doing? Let go of my hand and come with me!” Zhou Shujuan exclaimed in panic, her eyes filled with fear as she glanced at the talismans surrounding them. Her body trembled involuntarily, looking quite uncomfortable. She stole a glance at Qu Liang and struggled to shake off Qu Liang's grip on her right arm.
“Hmph! A mere Century Ghost dares to act all high and mighty in front of me? Do you really think there are no Taoist Masters capable of dealing with you? Show your true form!” Qu Liang had no intention of letting go. She pulled out four or five Silver Talismans from her backpack and stuck them onto Zhou Shujuan's body. Then she quickly cast a spell while chanting loudly: “Separation Fire descend, eradicate the ghost! Evil spirits obstructing my path turn to dust! Lingling, Earth Spirit, Supreme Old Lord heed my command! Separation Fire Talisman, I command!”
As Qu Liang finished speaking, those Silver Talismans ignited spontaneously without fire, transforming into fist-sized flames of Separation Fire that began to burn on Zhou Shujuan.
Strangely enough, although the flames grew stronger and stronger, Zhou Shujuan's clothes remained unharmed. Instead, a black ghostly shadow burst forth from Zhou Shujuan's Spirit Cover. The flames of Separation Fire clung to that ghostly figure's soul but did not actually burn Zhou Shujuan's body at all.
The ghostly figure finally extinguished the flames of Separation Fire that engulfed it. It turned around to face Qu Liang, its eyes shooting out cold killing intent, and with a fierce expression, it said, "Hah? You dare to play tricks on me? I will kill you!"
Initially filled with fear, the Ghostly Being sensed that Qu Liang's Daoist Magic was not very strong. A hint of murderous intent surfaced in its heart as it contemplated using a thunderous strike to eliminate Qu Liang.
While the Ghostly Being had not yet attacked, Qu Liang took the opportunity to lay the unconscious Zhou Shujuan down on the bed before turning her attention back to the approaching ghost. She opened the zipper of her backpack and pulled out a dozen Silver Talismans, throwing them at the Ghostly Being while coldly snorting, "Hmph! With your meager cultivation, you think you can kill me? How dare you cause trouble in school! Let me show you what happens when you mess with me."
Qu Liang's expression grew serious as she quickly formed several spells with her hands, infusing her limited Daoist Magic into the Silver Talismans suspended in mid-air. She activated them completely and shouted loudly, "Separation Fire descend, eradicate the spirits! Evil spirits blocking the way, turn to dust! Lingling, Earth Spirit, Supreme Old Lord, heed my command! Separation Fire Talisman, command!"
As Qu Liang's voice fell, the Silver Talismans transformed into fireballs of Separation Fire. Under her control, they flew towards the Century Ghost.
"Ah! How is this possible? Why do you have so many advanced talismans? These things are not even made by you!" The Century Ghost let out a wail of despair as it looked at Qu Liang with unwillingness. The flames of Separation Fire pierced through its soul body and burned it down to just a fragment. Meanwhile, the flames continued to blaze on the Ghostly Being; at this rate, it would not survive for more than ten seconds.
Just then, Qu Liang suddenly dissipated the flames in mid-air. The sudden drain on her Daoist Magic left her pale. She walked slowly up to the Ghostly Being and sincerely asked, "Ghost, if you tell me who is behind you, I will spare your life."
When Qu Liang saw Zhou Shujuan standing outside the door, she felt something was off. Although she couldn't pinpoint the exact problem, her sixth sense as a woman prompted her to decisively pull Zhou Shujuan into the dormitory using a feigned retreat strategy.
Upon making contact with Zhou Shujuan's body and sensing the fluctuations of the Ghostly Being's aura, Qu Liang quickly realized that a Century Ghost was possessing Zhou Shujuan. Taking advantage of this surprise, she struck against the Ghostly Being, leading to the current situation.
Qu Liang did not simply believe that this Century Ghost was truly the mastermind behind everything; she deliberately spared its life in hopes of extracting valuable information.
"Heh heh, you think you can get information from me? Don't dream! I won't tell you anything. If you're capable, just kill me! Hahahaha." Although the Ghostly Being's aura was already weak, it showed no fear towards Qu Liang. It understood that betraying its master would be far worse than death itself; thus, it preferred to die at Qu Liang's hands.
A complex expression flickered in Qu Liang's eyes as she hesitated over whether to strike at the Ghostly Being. Suddenly, a crisp knocking sound echoed from outside the door along with a hoarse voice calling out from beyond: "Qu Liang, open up. Don’t you want to know who I am? I'm right outside; just open the door."
