On the hotel side, although Hou Libang had regained consciousness, he couldn't quite remember what had happened to him. His last memory was of the moment he opened the door, and he couldn't even recall what Deng Feifeng looked like.
"Damn it, who hit me! I have to find that person and beat them so badly that even their parents won't recognize them." Hou Libang angrily stood up from the floor. He glanced at the surveillance camera in the corridor before turning and walking into the room.
Hou Libang pulled a high-end laptop out of his backpack. He connected it to the hotel's internet and began typing furiously on the keyboard, quickly hacking into the hotel's surveillance system.
As he searched through the surveillance records, he let out a smug snort and said, "Hmph, with this outdated firewall from over a decade ago, they think they can block my attack? It's simply a fool's dream."
I walked up behind Hou Libang, looking at the computer in front of him with confusion. I asked, "Hou Libang, where did you get this computer? I remember you didn't have this thing earlier this morning!"
A proud smile appeared on Hou Libang's face as he showcased the laptop's design. Grinning, he replied, "Jiang Ling, I bought this from a street vendor when I was out shopping this afternoon. It was really cheap—only a thousand bucks."
I noticed the logo on the laptop was an intact apple, and cold sweat broke out on my forehead. I shot Hou Libang a speechless glance but didn't directly point it out; instead, I silently thought to myself, "I have a bad feeling about this. I hope this laptop doesn't break down too soon."
After a while, Hou Libang finally found the footage from the surveillance camera in our corridor. When we adjusted the time to ten minutes ago, we watched the events unfold in their entirety.
"Lgbd, who is that woman! She was so ruthless; I must find her. Otherwise, I'll make her pay," Hou Libang said after watching the footage. His tone was noticeably less aggressive than before. The main reason for his hesitation was that he had seen himself making inappropriate moves toward that woman.
I stood beside him and watched the video out of curiosity. However, my expression turned serious when I saw that woman pull out a metal bottle from her belongings. Earlier that afternoon, I had seen someone from the White Alliance holding a bottle that looked almost identical.
My brows furrowed tightly together as an ominous premonition surged within me. I reached out and tapped Hou Libang on the shoulder, my expression grave as I said, "Hou Libang, rewind the video by three minutes; there's something I need to confirm."
Seeing my serious demeanor, Hou Libang nodded without asking further questions and directly rewound to where I wanted. I instructed him to enlarge the image of that metal bottle and scrutinized it carefully, becoming increasingly certain of my suspicions.
My gaze slowly became hazy as my mind raced. I secretly analyzed, "Should I get involved in this matter? I only have a fleeting connection with the White Alliance, and there's no real friendship between us. But the White Alliance's life seems quite miserable; if I don't lend a hand, I might feel guilty."
I reached up to touch my ear, quietly contemplating for a moment. Finally, a glimmer of determination flashed in my eyes as I gritted my teeth and said, "Hou Libang, can you hack into the county police station's file room? I want to check the records of a kid named White Alliance."
"Leave it to me! I can handle online files from places like the police station in just a few minutes," Hou Libang confidently patted his chest. He pulled up a new page and began rewriting a Trojan program to start infiltrating the county police station's online database.
Watching Hou Libang's actions, I nodded to myself. Although I wasn't very knowledgeable about hacking techniques, I had seen Lan Yue's operations and heard some of her explanations, so I could recognize some basic elements.
As the saying goes, even if you haven't eaten pork, you've seen pigs run. After observing for three minutes, I could tell that Hou Libang's skill level was about half of Lan Yue's, making him quite an impressive hacker.
"Hou Libang, do you smell something burning?" At that moment, I suddenly caught a whiff of burning plastic. Following the scent, I looked over to find wisps of white smoke rising from Hou Libang's laptop.
What I had anticipated had indeed happened; the counterfeit computer Hou Libang bought lacked sufficient operating memory to execute his commands, ultimately leading to software overload and overheating of the internal hardware.
"Jiang Ling, give me one more minute; I'll break through this firewall!" Hou Libang didn't seem to care about his computer's condition at all. His focus was entirely on attacking the police station's firewall, and he appeared exceptionally concentrated.
After a while, as Hou Libang's fingers pressed on the keyboard, he could feel a faint warmth emanating from it. The computer was nearing its limits and was about to crash.
"Damn it! I refuse to believe I can't break through this trash firewall!" Hou Libang shouted fiercely. A fierce glint flashed in his eyes as he increased his typing speed; waves of Trojans surged toward the police station's firewall.
"I’m in! Haha, finally got through!" Hou Libang let out a wild laugh as the screen in front of him displayed the interface of the police station’s online database. He quickly typed in White Alliance’s name and pulled up his records.
I read through White Alliance’s file from beginning to end and learned that his background was quite tragic. After being born, White Alliance was abandoned by his parents in a garbage heap and was discovered by a homeless man who collected trash. The man then took White Alliance in and raised him.
The life of that homeless man was already very difficult, and now he had to raise White Alliance. One could easily imagine their living conditions. Growing up in such an environment, it was a miracle that White Alliance had made it to this age.
After I memorized White Alliance's address, I reached out and patted Hou Libang's shoulder, smiling as I said, "Hou Libang, thank you for your help this time. When I come back, I'll make you a blessed Sabre."
Hou Libang casually tossed the now black-screened laptop from the table into the trash can, then looked at me with a grin and asked, "Jiang Ling, why are you being so polite? By the way, Jiang Ling, are you going to find this person called White Alliance? Do you need me to come along and help?"
