Wu Jie had not yet spoken, but the nearby police officers, drawing from years of experience, had already sensed something unusual about the land.
Huang Ping picked up a shovel and dug a half-meter deep hole in the vacant lot. As he worked, he felt an odd sensation underfoot and unearthed a piece of pink fabric.
Huang Ping paused his actions and looked up at a police officer in front of him. "Zhang, contact the people at the bureau immediately and have the Forensic Science Unit come over quickly. There is indeed a body buried here. We must not disturb the scene; we will continue digging once the professionals arrive."
This time, they had accompanied Master Chen on this operation without much hope, so they hadn't called for enough personnel. But now that it was confirmed there was a body here, Huang Ping needed to report the situation to the bureau and call for some backup.
Master Chen stood beside Huang Ping, his flashlight illuminating Huang Ping's actions. Therefore, when Huang Ping uncovered that piece of pink fabric, Master Chen had already seen it.
"This is Cute's clothing! This is definitely Cute's clothing; she must be buried down there. Huang Ping, hurry up and dig her out!" Master Chen shouted excitedly as he rushed forward, trying to snatch the shovel from Huang Ping's hands to dig up Cute's body himself.
"Chen Ke, calm down! We've already found Cute's body; we can't disturb the scene. If there are any ropes left by those criminals here, we can follow the clues and catch them," Huang Ping advised Master Chen as he tossed the shovel aside and quickly climbed out of the hole to block Master Chen.
"Huang Ping, get out of my way!" Master Chen yelled at Huang Ping, having lost all rationality and unable to hear Huang Ping's words. Realizing he couldn't take the shovel from Huang Ping, he decided against using tools altogether. He pushed Huang Ping aside with all his strength and attempted to jump into the deep pit to dig up Cute's body with his hands.
Seeing that he couldn't stop Master Chen alone, Huang Ping quickly signaled to several nearby officers. Three burly officers rushed over and together managed to restrain Master Chen with all their might, pulling him away.
Once Huang Ping saw Master Chen being pulled away, he finally breathed a sigh of relief. He glanced around and suddenly frowned, asking, "Tang, did you see that young man from earlier?"
Tang scratched the back of his head as he recalled, pointing towards the left side. "Yellow Team, I remember that young man seemed to have gone that way. We were too busy digging up the body to pay attention to him."
"You all hurry and follow me to chase that person! He was leading us earlier; I suspect he knows something about this case and could very well be one of the culprits. We can't let him get away," Huang Ping said seriously as he led the remaining officers in pursuit of Wu Jie’s direction.
Ten minutes ago, Wu Jie was standing with the ghost of Chen Mengmeng. Without a flashlight, he could only use his phone for illumination.
"Quack quack~~" At that moment, Wu Jie suddenly heard a crow cawing from the tree above. He looked up and saw a black crow perched on a branch. Due to the poor lighting, Wu Jie couldn't see it clearly; he only noticed that the crow had glowing green eyes, which looked particularly eerie.
Chen Mengmeng shuddered and tugged at Wu Jie's right hand, fear evident in her voice. "Wu Jie gege, I recognize that crow. It was left here by those bad people to deal with me. I was bullied by this crow before."
"Quack quack~~" The crow glanced at Chen Mengmeng, let out a caw, and then flapped its wings, transforming into a shadow as it swiftly flew toward her. With a sudden jerk of its head, its sharp beak aimed directly at Chen Mengmeng's eye.
Wu Jie quickly shielded Chen Mengmeng behind him. He turned to look at the others nearby and realized they couldn't see the crow flying toward them. His heart raced as he muttered to himself, "Could it be that this isn't a real crow? Is this a Ghost Bird?"
As Wu Jie spoke, the crow had already reached him. At that moment, he felt something hot in his pocket. He reached in and pulled out three Exorcism Talismans that emitted a faint glow.
The light on the talismans grew brighter until they spontaneously ignited without fire, transforming into three strands of light that shot toward the crow.
Wu Jie always carried Exorcism Talismans with him, but the ghostly beings he encountered before lacked any evil aura; they were pure souls that posed no threat to him. Therefore, the talismans had never been triggered. However, this crow was clearly different.
"Quack quack~~" The crow let out a shriek as it failed to dodge in time and was pierced by the three strands of light. An Evil Aura erupted from its body, and soon the crow transformed into a strange talisman that fell to the ground.
Wu Jie approached to examine the talisman and found it depicted a peculiar bird-like creature with a black feather stuck to it, looking quite bizarre.
"Huh~~" Wu Jie reached out to pick up the talisman, but as soon as he got close, it spontaneously ignited without fire and burned to ashes in an instant. A gust of cold wind swept through, scattering the ashes into the air until they vanished without a trace.
"Quack quack~~" At that moment, Wu Jie heard another piercing caw from deep within the forest. His brow furrowed with an ominous feeling creeping into his heart. He took out an Exorcism Talisman from his pocket and held it tightly in his hand before slowly making his way toward the source of the sound.
When Huang Ping discovered Wu Jie, he was standing in front of a large tree, with a piece of burning talisman paper at his feet. However, Huang Ping did not notice this detail.
Wu Jie heard footsteps approaching from behind. He turned to look and then pointed to the patch of ground beneath him, his voice low as he said, "Officer Huang Ping, the soil here is fresh. There is likely a body buried underneath."
Following Wu Jie's gesture, Huang Ping quickly noticed the unusual patch of earth. His brow furrowed, and with a cold gaze fixed on Wu Jie, he questioned, "Who are you? How do you know there’s a body buried here?"
