Following the map given to me by Lin Hanyu, I arrived at a nearby location—a vast open plain shrouded in a chaotic aura, mingled with the magical energy of the Daoist Sect, the sinister Eerie Aura, and the pure Eerie Energy from the Ghost Realm.
Before me lay a rugged terrain scattered with broken Daoist Robes and Daoist Artifacts, remnants of what seemed to have been a great battle.
"What happened here? Why are there so many fragments of magical energy?" I furrowed my brow, gripping the Demon-Subduing Staff in my left hand and the Broken Sword in my right, cautiously surveying my surroundings to guard against any sudden ambush from Ghostly Beings.
"Woof Woof~~" Dog Treasure let out an excited bark, its body flickering as it transformed into a blur and dashed into the battlefield.
"Dog Treasure, don't run off! Wait for me!" I shouted, quickly following after it. I caught up to Dog Treasure and saw it had found another Pure Yin Stone on the ground. This one was as big as a walnut, but its color was not the usual black; instead, it was a strange mix of black and red.
"Dog Treasure, that Pure Yin Stone seems off! Spit it out and let me see!" A sense of foreboding gripped me as I grabbed Dog Treasure by the neck with one hand while trying to pry the Pure Yin Stone from its mouth with the other.
Seeing that I was trying to take its Pure Yin Stone, Dog Treasure dodged my grasp. With a quick tilt of its head, it swallowed the stone whole.
"Woof Woof~~" Dog Treasure barked at me a few times, licking its lips in apparent delight. After swallowing the Pure Yin Stone, its aura grew stronger, but the Eerie Aura surrounding it no longer felt as pure; there seemed to be a hint of impurity within.
Noticing the change in Dog Treasure's aura made me uneasy. I patted its head and said, "Dog Treasure, don't eat random things! It could lead to trouble!"
"Woof Woof~~" Dog Treasure blinked its intelligent eyes at me, breaking free from my grip and darting off to the side. I followed it and saw that Dog Treasure had found another Pure Yin Stone—this one also mixed with black and red hues, looking equally bizarre.
"This isn't right! Pure Yin Stones are rare; why are there so many here?" My frown deepened as my sense of foreboding intensified. I rushed over to stop Dog Treasure from swallowing that stone.
"Woof Woof~~" Dog Treasure barked a warning. Having learned from its previous experience, it immediately gulped down the new Pure Yin Stone as I approached.
"Oh no! Dog Treasure, stop!" I sensed that Dog Treasure's aura was growing increasingly powerful while its temperament began to shift towards aggression. A wisp of red Evil Qi erupted from its head, obscuring its eyes.
“Woof Woof~~” The Dog Treasure growled at me, baring its teeth before darting deeper into the battlefield. Its speed had doubled compared to before, and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't catch up to it.
A glint of determination flashed in my eyes as I calculated, “Something is off with the Dog Treasure! It seems I have no choice but to use force to subdue it. Once we leave the Ghost Realm, I can cleanse its evil aura with Buddhism!”
“Roar!” Just as I took a few steps forward, a Vengeful Spirit suddenly sprang out in front of me. This Vengeful Spirit had cultivated for about seven hundred years, and its presence exuded a strong sense of oppression. However, its aura was unstable, shrouded in a mass of red Evil Qi, as if it had lost its sanity.
“Could this Vengeful Spirit have consumed that strange Pure Yin Stone!” I frowned, realizing that if my guess was correct, I needed to find the Dog Treasure quickly and stop it from continuing to consume that bizarre Pure Yin Stone.
“Get away from me! I don’t want to waste time on you!” I shouted, trying to slip past the Vengeful Spirit. I didn’t want to engage with it, as that would take too long and put the Dog Treasure in danger.
Blinded by the Evil Qi, the Vengeful Spirit sniffed the air and soon wore a greedy expression. It exclaimed maniacally, “Ah! There’s the scent of a Living Person! It’s been so long since I’ve tasted human flesh; finally, I can feast!”
Clearly unwilling to let me pass easily, the Vengeful Spirit gathered its Eerie Aura in its hands, causing sharp claws to sprout from its fingers.
“Ha ha! Human flesh, it’s been ages!” The Vengeful Spirit cackled ominously as it sensed my presence and lunged toward me with its claws.
“Seeking death!” My expression turned serious. Realizing there was no way to evade it, I swung my broken sword at the Vengeful Spirit’s hand.
The Broken Sword blocked the attack from the Vengeful Spirit, but I was still knocked back four or five steps. A murderous intent flashed in my eyes; taking advantage of the moment before it attacked again, I bit my tongue hard enough to draw blood and sprayed some Tongue Blood onto the Broken Sword.
I temporarily hung my Demon-Subduing Staff at my waist and quickly formed a Spell with my left hand while shouting loudly: “Ultimate Earth, Mystical Arts Have Methods, Exorcise Demons and Eliminate Spirits, Three Pure Ones Bestow Divine Power! Spirit Severing Technique, command!”
As soon as my words fell, the Broken Sword emitted a powerful surge of Daoist Magic, radiating a dazzling white light that enveloped everything within a ten-meter radius around me.
"Eh? What's going on?" I looked at the Broken Sword in my hand with some surprise, vaguely sensing that the sword spirit within it seemed to be awakening. This powerful Daoist Magic was the result of the sword spirit's enhancement.
"Evil spirits do not perish, and souls do not scatter!" Suddenly, a voice filled with ancient sorrow surged into my mind. The Broken Sword in my hand began to tremble slowly, and the sword spirit inside grew increasingly agitated.
"Could it be that the Evil Qi from this Vengeful Spirit is stimulating the sword spirit of the Broken Sword?" I wondered, but my actions did not pause. I thrust the Broken Sword directly toward the chest of the Vengeful Spirit.
Everything happened quickly; from the moment I cast the Daoist Spell to the awakening of the sword spirit in the Broken Sword, only three or four seconds had passed.
"Roar! No!" The Vengeful Spirit sensed an intense crisis. It tried to retreat, but under the binding light, its body moved sluggishly.
"Die!" I shouted, and the Broken Sword pierced through the chest of the Vengeful Spirit, shattering its soul before it even had a chance to resist.
After slaying the Vengeful Spirit, the sword spirit within my Broken Sword fell back into slumber, and the powerful Daoist Magic on it dissipated.
"This truly is a top-tier magical artifact!" I exclaimed excitedly as I gazed at the Broken Sword in my hand.
