The Soul Binding Nail was as thick as a pair of chopsticks and about the length of a finger. The surface of the Soul Binding Nail was engraved with the likenesses of the four individuals who had been forged into the Western Flying Skull, alongside their names and their Birth Date and Time.
"That's really disgusting!" I exclaimed as I saw the black residue left on the Soul Binding Nail, my stomach churning. I quickly threw the Soul Binding Nail to the ground and wiped my right hand clean on my clothes.
"Ah! Ahhh!" The Western Flying Skull let out a chilling scream. At the moment the Soul Binding Nail was pulled out, its head twisted violently, even showing signs of splitting into four pieces. The Western Flying Skull howled in agony, its head flying around chaotically in the basement.
"Western Flying Skull, what are you doing! Hurry up and kill that person!" Wang Hai rushed out at that moment. He had been hiding nearby, watching, and due to the dim light in the basement, he was unaware that the Soul Binding Nail had already been removed from the Western Flying Skull.
Seeing that the Western Flying Skull ignored his command, Wang Hai's face turned pale. He took out the Soul Binding Spike from his possession, preparing to break it in half. He threatened, "Western Flying Skull, if you don't move, do you want your soul to scatter?"
"Heh heh, oh oh, hehe, haha!" The Western Flying Skull paused. It turned to look at the Soul Binding Spike in Wang Hai's hand and emitted four completely different laughs, as if four different people were laughing. The Western Flying Skull flew in front of Wang Hai, looking down on him with disdain and rasped, "Wang Hai, dare you try to kill me!"
Wang Hai was terrified by the Western Flying Skull's gaze, cold sweat breaking out all over his body. He swallowed nervously but felt a surge of confidence when he saw the Soul Binding Spike in his hand. With a cold snort, he said, "Hmph! You dare threaten me! If I kill you, I can just buy another one! You can die now!"
After saying that, Wang Hai forcefully tried to break the Soul Binding Spike. Made from a type of black wood, it wasn't very sturdy. With a crack sound, the Soul Binding Spike broke into two pieces instantly; however, the Western Flying Skull remained unaffected.
"Wha... what is happening?!" Wang Hai looked at the broken Soul Binding Spike in his hand and then at the murderous Western Flying Skull before him. His heart shattered in an instant; he trembled and kept retreating, his voice becoming unsteady.
"Please spare me! I'll give you any amount of money you want!" Wang Hai's legs gave way beneath him as he fell to the ground, pleading for mercy from the Western Flying Skull.
The Western Flying Skull ignored Wang Hai's pleas for mercy. It circled around him repeatedly while emitting chilling laughter. In a raspy voice, it said, "Hehe, I'm finally free! I will take revenge on those who tormented me! Wang Hai, you are the first person I will take revenge on! You can die now!"
With that, the Western Flying Skull transformed into a blur and opened its gaping maw wide to bite at Wang Hai's head. It yanked hard and tore off a large chunk of flesh from Wang Hai's nose. It chewed greedily and swallowed the bloody morsel before opening its mouth again to bite at Wang Hai's face.
"Ah! No! Jiang Ling, come save me! I'll give you money, a lot of money!" Wang Hai's desperate screams echoed as he pleaded for help. Unfortunately, it was too late for him; I had already left the basement and was running out of Dragon's Apartment without looking back. Even if I were still in the basement, I wouldn't lift a finger to save Wang Hai. I was barely able to protect myself, let alone concern myself with the life or death of that scum.
"Forget it, a dead friend is better than a living enemy! If I don't run now, when will I?" I rushed outside Dragon's Apartment, feeling the scorching sun overhead, and let out a long sigh of relief. With Yang Qi so strong outside, the Western Flying Skull wouldn't chase after me.
"I'll head back to the Buddhist Artifact Shop first and treat my injuries!" I hailed a taxi by the roadside and directed the driver straight to the Buddhist Artifact Shop.
Inside the basement, Wang Hai was barely clinging to life. His body lay motionless on the ground, his flesh completely devoured by the Western Flying Skull. Even his eyeballs had been dug out and eaten, leaving only a bloodied skeleton behind. If it weren't for the Western Flying Skull deliberately leaving him alive, he would have been dead long ago. But in his current state, he was living a fate worse than death.
"Giggle! I'll eat your flesh later, so you can truly feel the pain I endured!" The Western Flying Skull burped; with just a head remaining, it couldn't consume too much at once. It landed on Wang Hai's body, closed its eyes, and began to refine and digest the blood and flesh it had consumed.
After a while, the Western Flying Skull opened its eyes again, its aura growing stronger. It opened its gaping maw and bit down once more on Wang Hai's body.
"Woo woo~" Wang Hai emitted a whimpering sound like a mosquito as a tear rolled down from his hollow eye sockets. His consciousness remained; he could clearly feel the pain coursing through him. He desperately wanted to bite his tongue and end it all but lacked the strength to do so.
Good deeds bring good rewards; evil deeds bring evil rewards! It's not that retribution doesn't come; it's just that the time hasn't arrived!
After more than an hour, Wang Hai finally found release. His corpse lay on the ground, reduced to nothing but a bloody skeleton. The Western Flying Skull hovered in mid-air, its wounds slowly healing as it gazed at Wang Hai's lifeless body with murderous intent. "Wang Hai, you are the first to die by my hand, but you won't be alone! Soon enough, I'll kill He Naixing and send him down to join you!"
When the Western Flying Skull uttered He Naixing's name, its voice turned ominously dark because it was He Naixing who had created this Western Flying Skull.
Sensing the powerful Yang Qi from outside, the Western Flying Skull didn't rush out to seek revenge on He Naixing. Instead, it flew back to its previous iron cage, closed its eyes, and began refining and consuming the blood and flesh while slowly healing its head wounds.
Meanwhile, my taxi arrived in front of the Buddhist Artifact Shop. I got out and hurried inside.
"Jiang Ling, you're back!" Jin Yuan waved at me with a smile, completely ignoring the bloodstains on my clothes.
"Jin Yuan, I'll settle the score with you later!" I shot her an annoyed glare before turning and walking into the resting room. I tossed my backpack onto the floor and made my way to the corner where the Nine-Dragon Cauldron was placed.
"Master, you must save me! Grant me a sip of the Elixir of Immortality!" I silently pleaded, my heart racing as I picked up the Nine-Dragon Cauldron from the corner. I could even hear my own heartbeat clearly.
Here’s the update! Thanks to the four friends for their support: Nan, Apus Elie, you are the choice of continuation in the next life, old friend Yan. Thank you!
