Wu Jingye recounted everything that had transpired inside the ancient tomb to Yang Xiaochao, including the Corpse Pit, the hundreds of Corpses, the Low-level Zombie army, and the mysterious palace yet to be explored.
"You've really drawn the short straw, encountering so many filthy things!" Yang Xiaochao's expression changed several times as he listened to Wu Jingye's description. After years of tomb raiding, this was the first time he had heard of such a multitude of grotesque entities within an ancient tomb. Usually, they would only encounter one or two Low-level Zombies at most during their expeditions.
"Boss, you should hurry and take your men away! Otherwise, the monsters inside will come rushing out!" Wu Jingye said weakly; his strength had reached its limit, and he could faint at any moment.
Yang Xiaochao glanced at Wu Jingye. He could vaguely hear the sounds of fighting growing louder from within the Tomb, approaching the exit. He removed the blade from Wu Jingye's neck and signaled to his subordinates. "This tomb is filled with strange occurrences; it’s not something we can monopolize! Let's retreat for now and discuss with the leaders of the other four families. It seems we need to collaborate this time! We’ll take this guy back to base for a thorough interrogation to see if he’s hiding any information!"
After finishing his words, Yang Xiaochao plunged the blade into the ground at the entrance of the Tomb and hung a dark red flag from its tip. One side of the flag bore a large character for "Yang," while the other side displayed "Mianyang."
Yang Xiaochao did this to inform any Grave Robbers arriving later that this ancient tomb had been claimed by them, the Mianyang Yang Clan Tomb Raiders. If anyone wanted to enter, they would need permission; otherwise, they would be opposing the Yang Clan Tomb Raiders.
"We're leaving!" Yang Xiaochao clapped his hands and turned to lead his subordinates down the mountain. Two of his men were escorting Wu Jingye, positioned in the middle of their group.
Soon, they arrived at the spot where they had encountered the Earthwalker Dragon earlier. They found an arm on the ground along with a pool of blood that hadn’t completely dried up; however, the unconscious Earthwalker Dragon was nowhere to be seen.
Seeing a trail of blood footprints on the ground, Yang Xiaochao couldn't help but snort. "Hmph! Looks like there's still a fish that got away! The Earthwalker Dragon managed to escape with its life!"
Yang Xiaochao didn't dwell on who had saved the Earthwalker Dragon since it had already paid a price; its left arm lay there as evidence. He wouldn’t pursue it relentlessly; otherwise, it would disrupt the rules among Grave Robbers.
"Let’s go!" Yang Xiaochao waved his hand and continued leading his men toward the Foot of the Tomb Mountain.
Meanwhile, Liu Yunchong contacted other fellow disciples in Mianyang City. As he carried the Earthwalker Dragon out of the mountains, someone immediately picked them up in a van and drove them toward a Black Market Hospital in Mianyang City.
Liu Yunchong was able to contact his fellow disciples smoothly, thanks to Qu Liang spreading the news about the ancient tomb on Spirit Ghost Street. The brothers were all heading towards that tomb and happened to receive the text message Liu Yunchong had sent along the way.
"Cloudwalker, have you and Earthwalker Dragon already gone to that ancient tomb?" asked the Grave Robber driving the van, while the other Grave Robbers turned their attention to Liu Yunchong.
Liu Yunchong was somewhat surprised that they knew about the existence of the tomb deep in the mountains. He nodded and said, "This time, I contacted five fellow disciples for this tomb raid. This morning, we went down together—six of us in total—but now only Earthwalker Dragon and I managed to escape! The other four disciples have already perished inside!"
"How could this happen?" exclaimed one of the Grave Robbers in disbelief from the back of the van. Liu Yunchong and Earthwalker Dragon were both well-known Grave Robbers; they could usually return unscathed even when going down alone. The fact that they had lost so many people this time was hard for them to accept.
Liu Yunchong did not hide anything and briefly recounted what had happened inside the tomb. Since they had not entered through the Bronze Door, he was unaware of what lay beyond it. Nevertheless, after hearing Liu Yunchong's description, all the Grave Robbers fell silent.
"We thought it was just an ordinary graveyard; we didn't expect things to be so complicated inside! Luckily, we didn't rashly go in!" one Grave Robber sighed deeply as he spoke.
Liu Yunchong's eyes flickered as he asked, "How did you know there was an ancient tomb in these mountains?"
The Grave Robber driving let out a light laugh and replied, "Haha, I don't know who spread the treasure map of the ancient tomb on Spirit Ghost Street, but now it seems that all the Grave Robbers in Mianyang are aware of its existence. Those with ambitions in Mianyang City are already rushing here; we encountered three or four groups of fellow robbers on our way. Grave Robbers from outside may also be heading this way. Mianyang City is quite a mixed bag right now—it's bustling!"
"Oh, I see!" Liu Yunchong let out a chilling laugh. He had a vague suspicion that Jiang Ling and Qu Liang were behind spreading the treasure map news since only they would know about it.
"The next time I run into those two brats, I will make sure to take their lives!" A murderous glint flashed in Liu Yunchong's eyes as he thought to himself.
The van soon reached the main road, merging into traffic and moving further away from the ancient tomb hidden deep in the mountains.
After two or three hours, several groups of Grave Robbers stood before the ancient tomb in the mountains, numbering around twenty to thirty people.
The group of Grave Robbers stood in silence as they gazed at the pile of bones belonging to the Mercenaries outside the Tomb, along with the flag of the Yang Clan Tomb Raider planted firmly in the ground. No Grave Robber dared to rush into the ancient tomb.
After two or three hours, it was already past six in the afternoon. The sun hung low in the sky, and darkness would soon fall.
More and more Grave Robbers gathered outside the tomb, with about fifty to sixty having arrived, along with a dozen Yin-Yang Masters from a Daoist Sect. All of them were outsiders; none of the Grave Robbers from Mianyang City had shown up.
"Fellow Grave Robbers, we've all come this far; we can't leave empty-handed! Although the Yang Clan Tomb Raider's flag is flying here, we've waited so long without seeing their Gold-Eating Mouse. They really look down on us!" At that moment, an elderly hunchbacked man in his sixties stepped forward. Known as the Centenarian Hunchback, he had made a name for himself in the Grave Robber community and was considered a senior figure.
Clearing his throat, the Centenarian Hunchback continued, "The Gold-Eating Mouse thinks little of this old man, but I won't give him any face. Now I'm taking my people down to rob the tomb. Any Grave Robbers who want to join us are welcome!"
With that, he turned and led five Grave Robbers into the entrance of the Tomb, quickly disappearing into the Passage beyond the sight of those outside.
One Grave Robber's eyes flickered as he spat on the ground. "Hmph! If even the Centenarian Hunchback has gone in, are we really going to let an old man outdo us? We should go in too; if we wait too long, all the good stuff will be taken by him!"
With that, he took three other Grave Robbers and entered the Tomb. A commotion erupted among those outside, and soon they could no longer contain themselves; they all rushed into the ancient tomb. The dozen or so Yin-Yang Masters followed suit, and what had once been a bustling entrance to the Tomb quickly became desolate.
