"Crazy!" I shook my head and muttered a curse, completely disregarding Liu Xin's threats. 0

After a while, Liu Xin's physical form was reduced to ashes, and her soul dissipated into thin air. I couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief, wiping the sweat from my forehead. "Finally, it's over!" 0

At the moment I eliminated Liu Xin, Wu Jingye, who was performing rituals in the neighboring village, encountered serious trouble. A ferocious ghost burst forth from the reservoir, charging madly towards the crowd on the shore, emitting piercing roars. 0

"Demon, cease your rampage!" Wu Jingye reacted swiftly. He grabbed the Dust Whisk from the Altar, rolled up several Talismans, and hurled them at the ghost. 0

"Ultimate Earth, Mystical Arts Have Methods. Command!" 0

Wu Jingye quickly cast his Spell; the Talismans ignited spontaneously without fire. The Dust Whisk in his hand radiated brilliance. With a powerful swing, he easily repelled the ghost. 0

The ghost became increasingly agitated. It attempted to charge several times but was thwarted by Wu Jingye each time. Finally, with bloodshot eyes fixed on Wu Jingye, it rasped, "The woman I loved most has been killed by someone. I will kill all of you! I will wipe you all out to accompany her in death!" 0

With that, the ghost plunged back into the reservoir, its figure vanishing instantly. 0

The surrounding villagers dared to approach again only after seeing the ghost disappear, though their faces were pale with evident fear from what had just transpired. 0

Some bolder villagers mustered their courage to ask, "Wu Bansian, what was that monster just now?" 0

Wu Jingye's expression turned grave as he placed the Dust Whisk back on the Altar and rubbed his wrist, which had gone numb from the earlier battle. "That monster was the Drought Demon, the culprit behind your village's drought. You all need not worry; I came here specifically to deal with it!" 0

"I will perform a ritual shortly and won't have time to protect you all; everyone should disperse!" Wu Jingye glanced in my direction and muttered to himself, "Strange, what happened over there? Why did that Drought Demon want to charge in that direction?" 0

Shaking his head and dismissing further thoughts, he began setting up a magical array by the reservoir to prevent the Drought Demon from escaping and harming anyone. 0

I sat at the bottom of the well, unaware of what was happening at the reservoir. After resting for a while and feeling somewhat recovered, I stood up again. 0

"Eh? Why are there only so few Corpse Worms left?" I glanced at the ground and suddenly noticed that more than half of the Corpse Worms at the bottom of the well had vanished. The remaining ones were scurrying around as if trying to escape from something. 0

"Could it be that Three-Eyed Leech's doing?" I stroked my chin and observed carefully until I finally spotted the previously missing Three-Eyed Leech. 0

The Three-Eyed Leech was chasing after a Corpse Worm, moving faster than an ordinary Corpse Worm. In just two or three seconds, it caught up to one, using its suction cups to latch onto the Corpse Worm's body. With its sharp beak, it pierced through the Corpse Worm's flesh and then sucked hard, draining the creature dry in the blink of an eye. 0

"So this thing didn't escape; it actually has some loyalty! But I better keep my distance, or I'll end up being drained dry myself!" I thought, feeling a chill run down my spine. Taking advantage of the Three-Eyed Leech's distraction, I quickly made my way back toward the rope. 0

I climbed up the dry well and hurriedly packed my things before running home. After taking a shower and changing into a fresh set of clothes, Uncle and the others returned. 0

"Uncle, where have you been?" I asked as I sat on the sofa. 0

"Why are you asking so many questions?" Uncle replied gruffly. He glanced around but didn't see Jiang Bao, so he asked, "Jiang Ling, where's Jiang Bao?" 0

I shot him a guilty glance and said, "I don't know! He probably went to chase after his girlfriend; he went back to school!" 0

"Oh! Then you should head back to school too!" Uncle said indifferently before walking into his bedroom. 0

I was puzzled by Uncle's irritation when Aunt pulled me aside to explain, "Jiang Ling, don't blame your Uncle; he was just scared!" 0

Aunt then recounted what had happened earlier, and I finally understood the situation. The direction from which the Drought Demon had charged ashore was exactly where Uncle and the others had been standing. 0

Aunt patted my head and said, "Jiang Ling, there's something haunting the village. Your Uncle is just looking out for you. If you don’t understand what's going on, you should go back to school!" 0

I nodded and chatted with Aunt for a while longer. Yawning, I said, "Aunt, I'm going to sleep now!" 0

I walked into my bedroom and immediately locked the door from the inside. Then I climbed out of the window and headed straight for the reservoir in the neighboring village. As I hurried along, I muttered to myself, "Jiang Bao had three suspicious locations before; the first two didn’t have the Drought Demon. It must be at that reservoir!" 0

When I reached the edge of the reservoir, I saw Wu Jingye sitting in front of an Altar on a chair. Surrounding him were seven or eight strong men dressed in black suits. They were holding materials for setting up formations and were methodically arranging them under Wu Jingye's direction. 0

"Shishu, what are you doing?" I asked curiously as I approached Wu Jingye. 0

Wu Jingye glanced at my neck with a slight smile curling at his lips. "Jiang Ling, what brings you here? Your Shishu is setting up a formation; would you like to stay and learn?" 0

I glanced at the formation in front of me and realized it was just a simple array used to trap ghosts and monsters. Its power wasn't very strong; it could handle ordinary spirits, but it was insufficient for the Drought Demon. I shook my head and said, "Shishu, I heard that the Drought Demon is right in this reservoir. You can't be planning to use these formations against it, can you?" 0

"I have my reasons for setting it up this way," Wu Jingye replied dismissively. He looked into my eyes and then pointed at the jade pendant hanging from my neck, sneering, "And don't call me Shishu anymore; you no longer have the right to do so!" 0

"What did you say?" Hearing Wu Jingye's words made my blood boil. I clenched my fist and charged at him. 0

"Kid, what do you think you're doing?" At that moment, the burly men surrounded me, blocking my way with unfriendly expressions. 0

I fixed my gaze on the mocking Wu Jingye, tightening my fist as I said, "Wu Jingye, you wait! The humiliation I suffered today will be repaid tenfold in the future!" 0

I forced myself to suppress the anger boiling inside me and turned to leave the reservoir, heading home. 0

Once I left, the group of strong men finally dispersed. One of them asked, "Wu Ye, don't you think you're going a bit too far?" 0

Wu Jingye snorted coldly and replied, "Hmph, my affairs are none of your business! Get back to setting up the formation!" 0

The burly men quickly retreated and continued their work. Wu Jingye watched my departing figure with eyes full of resentment and muttered to himself, "My senior brother wants to help you escape from Ghost Street; I won't let him have his way!" 0
