The Old Witch groaned in pain, reaching out toward me. Seeing her pitiful state made my heart ache a little. After hesitating for a moment, I finally decided to help her. 0

"Old Witch, I'm coming to help you!" I reached out, preparing to pull her up and drive away the insects crawling on her. 0

Wu Jingye saw my actions and rushed over, pulling me away forcefully. He shouted, "Are you crazy?" 0

With a tense expression, Wu Jingye took out a silver needle from his belongings. He firmly grasped my outstretched hand and quickly pricked the back of it several times. 0

"What are you doing?" I was confused by Wu Jingye's actions, so I quickly pulled my hand back with force and stepped back a few paces. 0

Wu Jingye snorted dismissively but didn't pursue me. Instead, he held up the silver needle and said irritably, "Look closely at what these are!" 0

I glanced at the needle and noticed four Black Insects strung on it, identical to those on the Old Witch. 0

"How could this happen?!" The thought that these insects had been extracted from my body sent a chill down my spine. I hurriedly checked the back of my hand to see if there were any more insects lurking there. 0

Wu Jingye took out a talisman and burned the insects off the silver needle. Turning to me with a smug expression, he said, "Now do you understand fear?" 0

Feeling somewhat embarrassed by Wu Jingye's attitude, I quickly walked over to him and extended my hand, smiling as I asked, "Brother, could you check if there are any more insects in my hand?" 0

Without hesitation, Wu Jingye opened my hand and said, "You're not going to die just yet!" 0

Hearing his words relieved me somewhat. At that moment, I turned to look at the Old Witch again, only to find her lying on the ground without any movement. Her exposed arm had been completely devoured by the insects, leaving only a pile of slightly bloodied white bones. 0

Seeing the Old Witch's tragic state made me swallow hard. I turned to Wu Jingye and asked, "Brother, what are these insects?" 0

After a moment of silence, Wu Jingye finally spoke up. "If I'm not mistaken, these insects should be Blood-Sucking Gu Worms. They usually lurk in the host's blood, continuously reproducing and developing. They only emerge from the host when commanded by their master and begin to consume the host's flesh and blood. The sheer number of Blood-Sucking Gu Worms on the Old Witch suggests that someone has been using sorcery on her for quite some time." 0

After listening to the introduction of the Blood-Sucking Gu Worm, a cold sweat broke out all over me. I thought to myself that if Wu Jingye hadn't intervened earlier, I might have ended up looking like the Old Witch now. Just thinking about it sent chills down my spine. 0

Wu Jingye seemed to see through my thoughts and said, "Don't worry, my child. The Blood-Sucking Gu Worm has many restrictions when it comes to safely parasitizing its host; it's not that easy to succeed. The Old Witch before us must have willingly allowed someone to cast a curse on her." 0

"Willingly? Who has such power?" I exclaimed in shock, unable to contain my disbelief. 0

Wu Jingye's expression turned serious as he looked up at the mountain across from Grave Hill and murmured, "If I'm not mistaken, this Blood-Sucking Gu Worm was likely planted by a Gu Master from the Ten Thousand Evil Hall. This is probably one of their methods for controlling members! And that Gu Master should be right across from us!" 0

"What?" Panic surged through me, and I quickly glanced around, wary of the Gu Master suddenly attacking me. Unfortunately, my worries were completely unfounded. 0

After three or four minutes, I heard a strange bird call coming from the mountain peak across from us, followed by a loud buzzing sound behind me that was extremely grating. 0

I turned around and saw the swarm of Blood-Sucking Gu Worms flying out from the Old Witch, gathering in mid-air into a cloud the size of a basin, and then heading toward the mountain peak across from us. 0

"They're coming!" Wu Jingye muttered to himself before swiftly descending the mountain in pursuit of the black cloud, quickly disappearing from sight. 0

"He's running too fast!" I glanced in the direction Wu Jingye had vanished and ultimately decided against following him. 0

" Brother Jiang Ling, whatever you do, don't look back. Let's head back directly!" Jiang Bao, who had been healing his wounds, suddenly came up beside me and put his arm around my shoulder. I could hear his voice trembling; he must have seen something terrifying. 0

"Jiang Bao, when did you become so timid?" Although I knew there was nothing good behind me, I couldn't help but glance back. What I saw made my heart drop: the Old Witch's clothes were torn to shreds, and her corpse lay exposed. 0

There wasn't a shred of flesh on the Old Witch's skeleton; however, her internal organs were still intact. I could see her intestines scattered on the ground in segments, creating a gruesome scene. 0

"We should get back quickly!" Seeing the Old Witch's tragic state made my stomach churn; I nearly vomited. I hurriedly supported Jiang Bao as we made our way down Grave Hill. 0

Jiang Bao had been bitten by an evil spirit. Although he had just expelled the eerie energy from the wound, he still needed to go to the hospital for a bandage. Similarly, I had a few scratches from those evil spirits that also required medical attention, but fortunately, my wounds weren't too severe. 0

Jiang Bao and I went to the clinic in the village to treat our injuries. The old doctor mistakenly thought we had been bitten by a dog. After bandaging our wounds, he insisted on giving each of us a rabies vaccine before letting us leave. Jiang Bao and I exchanged amused glances, and we didn't return home until dusk after all the fuss. 0

Standing at the doorstep, Jiang Bao hesitated to enter. Finally, looking guilty, he said to me, " Brother Jiang Ling, if my mom sees me like this, she'll definitely scold me. You have to help me out!" 0

I couldn't help but laugh at his fear of his mother. However, seeing his anxious expression, I patted his shoulder and reassured him, "Don't worry; your Brother Jiang Ling will have your back!" 0

As we stepped inside the house, we noticed that dinner was already laid out on the table and covered with a fly net, but there was no sign of Uncle or anyone else. 0

I glanced around and instinctively asked, "Uncle and the others aren't in trouble, are they?" 0

Jiang Bao shot me a look and pulled out his phone to call Uncle. He hung up quickly and sat down on a stool. Removing the fly net from the table, he casually said, "My parents went to see Wu Jingye perform a spell to get rid of the Drought Demon. Let's eat first." 0

" Brother Jiang Ling, let's dig in!" After Jiang Bao took away the netting, I saw four dishes on the table, one of which was a bowl of pig intestines. 0

Seeing those segmented pig intestines reminded me of the Old Witch's guts, causing my stomach to churn. I gagged slightly and said, "Ugh! I've lost my appetite; you go ahead!" 0

With that, I stepped outside. I wanted to see how Wu Jingye was dealing with the Drought Demon, so I naturally headed toward the busier part of the village. Jiang Bao decided not to join me since he was injured. 0
