There is a saying: when you are sick, take your life!
Jiang Bao saw the injured Evil Cat before him and naturally would not let such a good opportunity slip away. He brandished his Peach Wood Sword and swung it at the Evil Cat.
"Take this!" Jiang Bao shouted, increasing the speed of his Peach Wood Sword. The Evil Cat, unable to dodge in time, was struck and sent flying by Jiang Bao's sword.
Lu Jie watched as the Evil Cat was easily knocked away, her brow furrowing. She muttered to herself, "This can't be right. Just a moment ago, that Evil Cat was evenly matched with me; how has it become so weak now?"
Concerned that the Evil Cat might be deceiving them, Lu Jie called out to Jiang Bao, "Jiang Bao, be careful! Don't let your guard down!"
Jiang Bao nodded. He took a few Talismans from his waist pouch and affixed them to his Peach Wood Sword. Then he smiled and said, "Don't worry, Jie! I won't be careless!"
Jiang Bao turned his attention back to the Evil Cat, only to realize that it had vanished without a trace. He looked around but still couldn't find any sign of the Evil Cat.
A sense of foreboding crept into Jiang Bao's mind as he held his Peach Wood Sword in a defensive stance. Furrowing his brow, he turned to Lu Jie and asked, "Jie, where did that Evil Cat go?"
Lu Jie looked surprised and pointed at the previous gravestone. "That Evil Cat has gone back into the Wangchuan Stone!"
"What’s going on?" Jiang Bao turned to look at the Wangchuan Stone and noticed a cat statue appearing on its backside. Rubbing the back of his head, he walked over to Lu Jie and asked, "Jie, what should we do now? That Evil Cat can't just hide in there forever!"
Lu Jie shook her head. "This Evil Cat has made a deadly enemy of us; it must know that hiding inside the Wangchuan Stone isn't completely safe."
"The reason the Evil Cat returned to the Wangchuan Stone is that it's probably preparing some kind of deadly move to settle things with us!"
Jiang Bao gazed thoughtfully at the Wangchuan Stone in the distance when suddenly a loud noise erupted from it. A crack appeared on its surface, about the width of a finger.
"What’s happening?" Hearing the sound, Jiang Bao immediately stepped forward with his Peach Wood Sword, positioning himself protectively in front of Lu Jie.
Seeing the changes in the Wangchuan Stone, Lu Jie's expression darkened. She sighed and said, "That Evil Cat is preparing to absorb the Eerie Energy within the Wangchuan Stone to temporarily boost its Cultivation. It's such a waste; such a large piece of Wangchuan Stone wasted like this!"
As soon as Lu Jie finished speaking, another loud noise came from the Wangchuan Stone. More cracks began to appear on its surface, and chunks of stone started to break off from it.
After three or four minutes, the entire Wangchuan Stone was covered in cracks, its shape shrinking significantly.
"Meow~~" Suddenly, a sharp cat's cry came from inside the Wangchuan Stone. The stone trembled, and after three or four seconds, it exploded, revealing a dark figure.
That dark figure was the previous Evil Cat, but now it had grown considerably larger, about the size of an ordinary hunting dog. Even more astonishing was that the aura emanating from the Evil Cat had become much stronger, giving me a sense of danger.
I frowned and cautiously watched the Evil Cat in front of me, calling out to Jiang Bao, "Jiang Bao, do you need my help?"
Jiang Bao looked at me and shook his head with a smile. " Brother Jiang Ling, don't worry! We can handle this Evil Cat without your assistance!"
"Alright, I'll go test the waters with this Evil Cat!" Jiang Bao said to Lu Jie before confidently approaching the Evil Cat with his Peach Wood Sword.
"Evil Cat, take this sword!" Jiang Bao shouted as he lunged forward with another strike at the Evil Cat. Although he appeared calm on the surface, he held nothing back in his attack, aiming directly for the Evil Cat's vital points.
"Hmph, just a parlor trick!" The Evil Cat scoffed at Jiang Bao's approaching Peach Wood Sword. Just as the sword was about to make contact, the Evil Cat struck out with its paw, forcefully swatting Jiang Bao's sword away.
Jiang Bao stared in disbelief at his flying Peach Wood Sword. Rubbing his numbed wrist, he muttered to himself, "Damn it, when did this Evil Cat get so strong!"
"Die!" After knocking away the Peach Wood Sword, the Evil Cat let out a low growl and immediately lunged at Jiang Bao, claws aimed directly at his chest.
"Jiang Bao, help!" Seeing the sharp claws of the Evil Cat reaching for him made Jiang Bao's hair stand on end. He swallowed hard and quickly dodged to the side.
Jiang Bao moved swiftly enough to evade the Evil Cat's claws aimed at his chest; however, his left arm was still scratched by the Evil Cat, leaving a deep wound.
"Get away from me!" Jiang Bao gasped in pain and cursed under his breath as he kicked backward at the Evil Cat.
"Hehe, you can't escape!" The Evil Cat let out a strange laugh as it easily dodged Jiang Bao's kick and continued to pounce toward him.
The Evil Cat soared through the air, about to collide with Jiang Bao's back. At that moment, a Bone Knife intercepted its claws, neutralizing its attack.
"Jiang Bao, I'll hold this Evil Cat down; you prepare your killing move!" Lu Jie called out to Jiang Bao. Not daring to be careless, she immediately turned around and engaged in battle with the Evil Cat.
Jiang Bao took the opportunity to step aside, quickly tending to the wound on his arm before preparing his finishing move.
"Hmph, you think you're still my match? You're truly overestimating yourself!" Evil Cat scoffed as it glanced at Lu Jie, then immediately leaped into the air, claws outstretched, aiming for Lu Jie's face.
"Don't get too cocky!" Lu Jie retorted defiantly. As she saw Evil Cat charging at her, she hurriedly raised her Bone Knife to block the attack.
Looking at the Bone Knife in Lu Jie's hand, Evil Cat revealed a cunning glint in its eyes. It clawed down hard onto the Bone Knife, and with a sharp crack, it shattered into two pieces.
"How is that possible?!" Lu Jie screamed, staring blankly at the broken Bone Knife, completely at a loss.
"Die!" Taking advantage of Lu Jie's moment of shock, Evil Cat shouted and lunged its claws toward her chest.
Seeing the urgent situation, I shouted loudly, "Lu Jie, watch out!"
I turned to glance at Jiang Bao beside Lu Jie, only to find him still preparing his finishing move without a hint of concern. So I yelled at Jiang Bao, "What are you doing! Hurry up and save Lu Jie!"
Just as my words fell, before Jiang Bao could react, everything had already unfolded.
"Heh heh, die!" Evil Cat let out a chilling laugh as its claws pierced through Lu Jie's chest. With a fierce tug, it pulled out a bright red heart.
