" Brother Jiang Ling, the moon is so round tonight, I suddenly feel like going for a run. I'm off!" Jiang Bao noticed something was off, waved at me with a smile, and ran into the village.
"Jiang Bao, stop right there! I swear I won't let you off easy!" I quickly slipped on my sandals and chased after him.
It was already late, and everyone in the village had gone to bed early to rise with the dawn, leaving the village eerily quiet except for the occasional barking of dogs.
I chased Jiang Bao around the village for quite a while, and before I knew it, we had ended up in the woods on the eastern side of the village.
Jiang Bao leaned against a Sophora Tree, panting heavily. " Brother Jiang Ling, please stop chasing me; I can't run anymore!"
"Finally, you’ve stopped!" I gasped for breath as I slowly walked over to him. I shot him a glare but lacked the energy to continue our scuffle. I plopped down on the ground and said, "Jiang Bao, hand over all six of those Money Swords!"
Jiang Bao hesitated. " Brother Jiang Ling, without those six Money Swords, how are we supposed to deal with that Drought Demon?"
A Drought Demon like that was an Evil Spirit; ordinary Peach Wood Swords couldn't break through its defenses. Only magical artifacts like Money Swords could do the trick.
I frowned and thought for a moment. "You two have too little power to unleash the full potential of the Money Swords! You and Lu Jie each take one, and give me the other four!"
Jiang Bao scratched his head awkwardly. " Brother Jiang Ling, wasn't your power sealed by Master? Are you sure you're stronger than us now?"
I shot him an exasperated look and said proudly, "I've broken the seal Master placed on me. Don't you think my power is greater than yours now?"
Upon hearing that I had broken the seal, Jiang Bao looked at me in disbelief. He circled around me a couple of times and tested my internal energy.
After confirming that my seal was indeed gone, he fell silent for several seconds before letting out a deep sigh. "Alright then, you can have all six Money Swords. Lu Jie and I have other tricks up our sleeves!"
"Oh? What other tricks do you have?" I asked curiously.
Jiang Bao chuckled and shook his head. "Hehe, you'll find out when the time comes!"
I rolled my eyes at him. "You dare to keep secrets from me? If you don't want to share, then forget it!"
I stood up from the ground and looked Jiang Bao in the eye. "Besides those Money Swords, I remember leaving behind many Talismans as well. You didn't use them all up, did you?"
Feeling embarrassed under my gaze, Jiang Bao scratched his head again and smiled sheepishly. " Brother Jiang Ling, those Talismans have been around for so long that their power has long faded. To avoid wasting them, I went ahead and used them all!"
Although I had long suspected this outcome, I was still very angry. I pointed at Jiang Bao's nose and said, "You... you are ruthless!"
Jiang Bao pulled my hand over and grinned shamelessly, " Brother Jiang Ling, don't be mad just yet. I've prepared a magical artifact for you that will definitely not disappoint!"
"What kind of magical artifact?" I asked curiously.
A glimmer of pride appeared in Jiang Bao's eyes as he patted his chest, "It's the Seven Star Mysterious Dragon Sword that I risked my life to steal from Master! What do you think? Didn't let you down, right?!"
I looked at Jiang Bao with disdain and said, "Pfft, the Seven Star Mysterious Dragon Sword? Keep dreaming!"
The Seven Star Mysterious Dragon Sword was my master's renowned artifact. He wouldn't even let me touch it, so how could Jiang Bao have stolen it?
Jiang Bao scratched the back of his head awkwardly and said, " Brother Jiang Ling, the Seven Star Mysterious Dragon Sword is really here. But I didn't steal it; Master left it here for you to take!"
I furrowed my brows and asked, "What do you mean? Why would Master leave the Seven Star Mysterious Dragon Sword with you?"
"Follow me!" Jiang Bao beckoned and led me to the center of the forest. He pointed at a dead Sophora Tree ahead and said, " Brother Jiang Ling, just go take a look!"
As I approached the dead Sophora Tree, I felt something was off. All the other Sophora Trees in the forest were thriving, yet this one stood lifeless.
"There's actually demonic energy!" When I reached the dead tree, I discovered that it was actually a Tree Demon that had become sentient.
The Sophora Tree is one of the common Ghost Trees in the human realm. In every Sophora Forest, there is usually a Tree Demon capable of communicating with spirits. A Tree Demon can transform into human form after cultivating for over a hundred years and walk freely on land.
However, this particular Tree Demon clearly hadn't cultivated for a century yet.
I circled around the Sophora Tree and noticed an ancient sword deeply embedded in its roots, firmly pinning down its essence.
Glancing at the sword's design, I found it bore some resemblance to the Seven Star Mysterious Dragon Sword. But what puzzled me was why Master would attack this Tree Demon without completely annihilating it if this truly was the Seven Star Mysterious Dragon Sword.
Instead of hastily pulling out the sword from the ground, I turned to Jiang Bao and asked, "Jiang Bao, what’s going on with this Tree Demon?"
Jiang Bao explained, "Three years ago, this Sophora Tree Demon killed a girl who passed by here at night. It was later discovered by Spirit Ghost Street. Master took on the mission to eliminate this Sophora Tree Demon and instructed me to seal it with the Seven Star Mysterious Dragon Sword until you returned so that you could personally deal with it!"
I stroked my chin, pondering for a moment, and secretly thought, "Could Master want me to take action now as an opportunity to pass the Seven Star Mysterious Dragon Sword to me?"
I glanced at the Sophora Tree Demon before me and said, "Tree Demon, since you have already taken the life of a living person, I cannot let you go!"
I walked up to the Sophora Tree Demon and reached down to pull the Seven Star Mysterious Dragon Sword from the ground.
Although the Seven Star Mysterious Dragon Sword had sealed the Sophora Tree Demon for three years, once I pulled it out, the blade gleamed brightly without a hint of rust, radiating a chilling aura.
"It truly is the Seven Star Mysterious Dragon Sword!" I saw that one side of the blade was engraved with the pattern of the Big Dipper Seven Stars, while the other side depicted a vividly lifelike Five-Clawed Golden Dragon. This sword was indeed the Seven Star Mysterious Dragon Sword!
Just as I was lost in admiration of the Seven Star Mysterious Dragon Sword, Jiang Bao suddenly shouted loudly, " Brother Jiang Ling, behind you!"
Hearing Jiang Bao's words, I quickly turned around and looked back, only to find that the previously dead Sophora Tree had sprouted green buds, full of life.
At that moment, a cool breeze swept through the forest, causing the withered branches of the Sophora Tree to sway eerily in the wind.
"Hmph, trying to play tricks! Let's see how I deal with you!" I snorted coldly and swung the Seven Star Mysterious Dragon Sword toward the Sophora Tree Demon.
Just as the Seven Star Mysterious Dragon Sword was about to strike the Sophora Tree Demon, a girl's face suddenly appeared on the tree. The girl opened her eyes and looked at me pitifully, crying out, "Master, please spare me!"
