Lan Yue watched in horror as the dead bodies began to move. His legs trembled, and he clutched tightly to the police officer beside him. Swallowing hard, he asked nervously, "What is going on?! Are we seeing ghosts?!"
The two officers had never encountered such a situation before. Their faces turned pale with fear, but they forced themselves to remain calm. "Don't be ridiculous; there are no ghosts in this world!"
Lan Yue fell silent. He might have once believed that there were no ghosts, but just two days ago, he had encountered something supernatural. He was certain that he was facing something sinister again.
As the three of them approached the exit, the large door of the internet café suddenly closed on its own.
"Let us out!" Lan Yue shouted as they rushed toward the door, pounding on it with all their might. However, the door remained unyielding and would not budge.
The group of corpses moved toward them like zombies from a television show, arms outstretched and bodies moving sluggishly, now less than twenty meters away from Lan Yue and the others.
Realizing the gravity of the situation, the two officers quickly drew their guns and fired at the nearest corpse. The bullet struck its body, creating a gaping hole from which blood flowed freely. Yet, the corpses showed no fear; they continued advancing toward Lan Yue and his companions.
Seeing the clawing corpses approaching, Lan Yue's fear reached its peak. In a moment of desperation, he quietly took out his phone and sent a text message: " Brother Jiang Ling, come save me! I'm at Bobcat Internet Café!"
After sending the message, Lan Yue noticed a Daoist Sect on the left side of the café; it led to a passageway to the rooftop balcony. He had been led there once by the Network Administrator to evade patrolling officers.
"Officer, let's hide on the balcony!" Lan Yue urged as he led both officers through the door and barricaded it with a police baton.
The corpses followed closely behind, some banging on the door while others clawed at it with their fingers, creating an ear-piercing sound.
Fortunately, the door was sturdy enough to hold them back for now, allowing Lan Yue and his companions to breathe a sigh of relief.
Meanwhile, Zhang Yang stood outside Bobcat Internet Café with other officers, using her walkie-talkie to call for two officers who were monitoring suspects inside. However, there was no response. Moments ago, she had heard gunshots coming from within.
With a serious expression, Zhang Yang looked into the darkened café. She pulled out her air gun and waved her right hand decisively. "Everyone follow me inside! Stay alert!"
While Lan Yue and his companions struggled against the heavy door that wouldn't open, Zhang Yang easily pushed it open from outside.
Inside the café, darkness enveloped everything; it was impossible to see what was happening within.
Zhang Yang took out a flashlight and walked at the front, saying, "Everyone, stay alert!"
"Don't worry, Captain! With so many of us, there's no way we can't catch that suspect!" Everyone confidently pulled out their flashlights.
"How can there be a crow here, and one with three eyes at that!" Zhang Yang inadvertently discovered the Three-Eyed Crow perched on a web line and asked curiously.
The Three-Eyed Crow looked at Zhang Yang and the others with a human-like gaze before tilting its head and cawing.
"Captain Zhang, what is that?!" At that moment, several figures slowly approached Zhang Yang and the others. Someone shone their flashlight over, revealing that those people were already dead.
The corpse at the front was wearing a school uniform. Its once youthful face was now covered in blood, both eyes gouged out. On the back of its head was a finger-sized wound, from which white brain matter mixed with red blood flowed out.
The corpses behind it were equally horrifying; three of them had their heads smashed open with fist-sized holes, their brains completely eaten away. Two others had their chests ripped open, their hearts missing, and their internal organs hanging out of the gaping wounds.
Zhang Yang and her team had rarely seen such brutality. Their faces turned pale, and several young officers couldn't hold back upon seeing the gruesome scene and crouched down to vomit.
"What should we do now, Captain?" The officers gathered around Zhang Yang, asking for guidance.
Zhang Yang fought to keep her stomach settled as she looked at the corpse before her, recalling scenes from TV shows featuring Walking Corpses. With a mindset of trying anything, she said, "Everyone, don't be afraid! Shoot them in the head!"
These corpses had actually been killed by the Three-Eyed Crow and were then controlled by it using dark magic to perform simple actions.
The key to controlling the corpses lay within their heads; Zhang Yang's method was precisely what could break the Three-Eyed Crow's spell.
Zhang Yang was the first to fire her pistol at the head of the nearest corpse. Since it wasn't very far away, she shot it cleanly, exploding its head.
The corpse's head burst open like a watermelon, white brain matter flying through the air in all directions. Without its head, the body staggered forward a few steps before collapsing stiffly to the ground.
Zhang Yang stood too close; white brain matter splattered across her face and mouth. She quickly wiped her face but still carried a strong metallic smell of blood on her. Unable to hold it any longer, she crouched down and began to vomit heavily.
Seeing that Zhang Yang's method worked, the other officers immediately drew their pistols and quickly dealt with the remaining corpses in front of them.
"Quack!" The Three-Eyed Crow let out a cry as it realized its spell had been broken. It tilted its head back and called out again. At that moment, all the Corpses in the internet café began to move toward Zhang Yang and the others.
"Hey? Why is it suddenly quiet?" Lan Yue and the others noticed that the knocking on the door had finally stopped, replaced by the sound of gunfire outside. The two police officers guessed that Zhang Yang and his group must have arrived.
"We should go take a look too!" The two officers exchanged glances, gripping their handguns tightly as they cautiously opened the door and stepped outside.
As they emerged, they were met with a gruesome sight: all the Corpses from before lay sprawled on the ground, their heads burst open like watermelons. The floor of the internet café was smeared with white brain matter and red blood, a strong metallic scent hanging heavily in the air.
Seeing the scene, Lan Yue felt his stomach churn violently; unable to hold it in, he crouched down and began to vomit.
Zhang Yang approached one of the Corpses, flipping it over with her foot. She shone her flashlight on it and then pulled out her phone to compare photos.
Zhang Yang frowned and said, "This is the suspect, but he's already dead! What on earth happened here?"
While Zhang Yang was investigating the scene with the police officers, no one noticed that the Three-Eyed Crow had already flown out of the internet café.
"A bunch of fools, they didn't even notice me! Hahaha!" The Three-Eyed Crow cawed loudly in human speech from above.
"Demon, take this!" Two Figures appeared beneath the Three-Eyed Crow, surrounding it from both front and back. These two were none other than myself and Qu Liang.
