Two mercenaries cautiously stepped into the cave, and an overwhelming stench of blood immediately assaulted their senses. They exchanged a glance, a sense of foreboding settling in their hearts. The moment they entered, they were met with a horrifying sight. The training they had undergone had exposed them to many bloody scenes, but what lay before them now made their hearts race and filled their minds with fear. 0

Three mercenary corpses lay together, their positions grotesque and twisted. One of them had been brutally decapitated, its head hanging at an unnatural angle like a broken doll, blood long dried and staining the ground black. The other two bodies were even more gruesome; bullets had penetrated their skulls, shattered brain matter and bone fragments scattered around them. The walls and floor were smeared with copious amounts of blood, resembling a massacre. 0

“Oh my God… what happened here?” one mercenary murmured under his breath, his grip on his weapon trembling. They had never witnessed such brutality; even years of battlefield experience could not calm their nerves. 0

As their gaze fell upon Samuel's body, they felt an even deeper chill. Samuel’s body had clearly undergone some horrific transformation; his limbs were contorted and deformed as if something had violently torn him apart. His mouth was savagely ripped open, stretched to an extreme angle, the corners nearly reaching his ears, revealing dark red flesh inside that looked as though it had been brutally torn apart. His eyes were wide open, pupils dilated to an unbelievable extent, filled with terror and agony as if he had endured extreme torment in his final moments. 0

“What happened to him? His body…” one mercenary said, shining his trembling flashlight on Samuel’s remains and noticing how his limbs and torso appeared to be twisted by some unnatural force. There were unnatural bulges beneath his skin, as if something had been writhing inside him. 0

“These aren’t ordinary wounds…” the other mercenary couldn’t help but take a step back, feeling cold sweat break out on his back like a tidal wave, his legs beginning to tremble uncontrollably. They had heard rumors of parasites before; Samuel’s bizarre death made everything seem incomprehensible and terrifying. 0

The two mercenaries stood amidst the bloodshed and death, feeling utterly powerless. They understood that the danger here was beyond their control. They faced not only death but also an unknown and insurmountable force, and all they could do now was perhaps flee from this hell. 0

With heavy hearts, the two mercenaries moved forward cautiously, the air around them thick with oppression as if the entire cave exuded a chilling malice. They heard Raymond’s low voice not far away, seemingly crying in pain or issuing helpless wails. That sound echoed through the vast cave, sending shivers down their spines. 0

“Is that Raymond?” one mercenary whispered nervously, gripping his gun tightly as cold sweat soaked his palms. They didn’t know Raymond’s condition and couldn’t be sure whether it was safe to approach, but the unease and fear within them compelled them to move forward. 0

As they drew closer, more blood and shattered remnants came into view on the ground. Suddenly, the beam of the flashlight swept over a body lying on the ground. When they approached, their hearts skipped a beat—it was Dr. Allison’s corpse. 0

She lay quietly in a pool of blood, her limbs sprawled helplessly as if all life had been completely drained from her body. However, what was most unbearable was her face. Once gentle and beautiful, it was now unrecognizable. Her features had been utterly destroyed by some immense force; her nose was crushed, her eye sockets sunken deep, and her forehead caved in as if someone had pounded it repeatedly until every bone shattered into fragments. Her face resembled crushed pottery, smeared with a mix of blood and bone debris. 0

“Oh God…” one mercenary recoiled instantly, nausea rising in his stomach as he fought against the urge to vomit. He had never seen such cruelty before. Allison's eyes were wide open in fear and helplessness, but her face was so distorted that it bore no resemblance to her former self; he could no longer discern any expression she might have held. 0

"How is this possible... Who would do this to her?" another mercenary whispered, his voice trembling with fear. Their hearts raced, filled with confusion and dread. Who could be so cruel? Was this the work of Raymond, or some external force? 0

The sound of Raymond's weeping grew closer, but it no longer resembled the wail of a normal person; it was more like the cry of something twisted by darkness. The two men dared not approach any further, yet they knew that whatever had happened, it had irrevocably plunged them into an abyss from which there was no return. 0

One of the mercenaries summoned his courage and slowly moved closer to Allison's body. The horrific sight made his stomach churn, and the gun in his hand felt unbearably heavy. Despite having seen countless battles, he had never encountered such a ghastly scene—one person's face could be so utterly deformed. Blood and shattered bones intertwined into a terrifying blur that made it nearly impossible for him to look directly at it. 0

He swallowed hard, shifting his gaze from Allison's broken visage to Raymond. He was curled up not far away, facing away from them as if oblivious to the carnage behind him. The low sobbing continued to echo from Raymond's direction, resonating like some eerie lament in a cave. 0

The mercenary hesitated for a moment but knew he had to find out what had happened to Raymond. He stared at Raymond's back and cautiously spoke up, "Sir... What exactly happened here?" His voice trembled slightly, but the air only responded with strange, indistinct murmurs. 0

"Raymond?" he asked again, this time with more unease. Raymond remained motionless, but the peculiar sound grew clearer—not crying, but a strange gurgling noise as if something were lodged in his throat, unable to escape. The atmosphere became stifling, the air heavy enough to suffocate. 0

"Step back!" another mercenary warned in a hushed tone, raising his gun and aiming it at Raymond's back. His breathing quickened, nerves taut like a string about to snap. The scene before him filled him with an ominous sense of dread. 0

"Sir, are you alright?" the first mercenary attempted once more to break the suffocating silence; however, all he received in response was that eerie whispering sound, as if some inhuman voice struggled within Raymond's body, trying to break free. 0

Suddenly, Raymond's shoulders twitched slightly as he slowly turned his head. His face was shrouded in shadow, obscuring any details; yet in that moment, it seemed as though the corners of his mouth twitched as if attempting to smile. 0

"Raymond...?" The mercenary could no longer suppress his fear; his finger rested on the trigger while his palm grew slick with sweat. 0

At that moment, Raymond emitted a low gurgling sound and abruptly stood up, moving stiffly like a puppet being controlled by strings. 0
