In a broken crevice at the corner of the wall, a figure gradually emerged, resembling an ordinary human at first glance.
Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a Zombie. Moreover, it was a grotesquely evolved form of Zombie. The entire creature moved like a human crawling backward, its limbs having degenerated into long legs resembling those of a spider. Eight additional long legs sprouted from its body, forming a grotesque ten-legged structure. Its hands had devolved into sharp, blade-like appendages. Even more horrifying was the face, which still faintly resembled that of a human from the Post-Apocalypse era.
What sent chills down one’s spine was the expression on its human-like face, twisted in agony, its mouth constantly moving as if it were screaming in pain, suggesting that it still retained some semblance of consciousness.
Zheng Yifan recognized this monster immediately; it was undoubtedly a true Zombie. The only sound that remained was the last howl of what had once been a Fellow before its transformation into a Zombie, now echoed by this abomination.
It mimicked the cries like a parrot repeating words, but what it imitated were those agonizing sounds.
With his hands steady on his long gun, Zheng Yifan braced himself for action. Beside him, Li Ning held the Ganjiang Divine Sword, but his face had turned pale, as if he might vomit at any moment.
This thing was utterly disgusting.
A faint sound emanated from the spider-like creature. The human mouth seemed merely to be its tool for mimicry; its real mouth was somewhere else.
This was a Fifth Level monster—not particularly high in rank—but its appearance was terrifying. Spider silk began to slowly emerge around it.
Zheng Yifan looked closely and saw countless tiny spiders, each no bigger than a grain of rice, appearing nearby and rapidly weaving webs.
These spiders were at the level of First-Level Zombies, and even more terrifying was that they were akin to this large Spider Zombie. The sheer number of them crawling over a single person could amount to tens of thousands attacking simultaneously.
How could a single Superpowered Individual withstand such an onslaught?
“Boss! Take it down! I see many cocoons in that hole behind them; there might be some of our people,” Li Ning whispered urgently.
His position allowed him to catch sight of the situation inside; he could see numerous cocoon-like structures hanging from above.
The cocoon-like objects stood about a meter high and were undoubtedly places where spiders stored their food.
It seemed that he heard a sound from outside, a faint clattering coming from those Cocoon-like things.
It was the sound of someone striking the Cocoon forcefully with their hands.
Upon hearing this, Zheng Yifan knew he had to resolve these matters quickly. Otherwise, if the people inside died, it would be a serious problem.
He shook his spear in hand and thrust it forward swiftly.
It was still an assassination move. This was Zheng Yifan's most commonly used technique. Simple yet effective, his hands executed a straightforward thrust.
Underfoot, he felt the crunch of shattered bones, and a skull was kicked away by Zheng Yifan, smashing into the face of a spider.
Surprisingly, the spider launched its attack first as Zheng Yifan struck. However, its method of attack was utterly disgusting.
It stood upright and then unleashed a torrent of spider silk from what appeared to be a massive mouth in its abdomen.
The spider silk was coated in slime and contained Zombie Spiders.
There were hundreds of these Zombie Spiders, all at the Second Tier level.
Their smaller size reduced their attack power, but these were Second-Level Zombies; any ordinary person would surely die upon encountering them. Even a Fourth Stage Superpowered Individual would suffer severe injuries if this hit them in the face.
Zheng Yifan's current strength was exceptional, yet he did not dare to charge directly into battle. Even though his defenses had reached a level where these Zombies could not harm him, he didn't want to get covered in that mess.
That substance looked incredibly sticky; once it got on him, it would be difficult to remove.
Suddenly, a brilliant light erupted from his Silver Spear and shot forth.
It was a beam of Golden Light, powered by the long-accumulated Power of Faith. However, what he was using now was the earliest technique: Break the Thirty-Six Calamities with Guns.
With each thrust, waves of Vital Energy Fluctuation surged forth.
These fluctuations began to spiral, causing the spider silk to twist and turn.
The silk was remarkably resilient, gradually turning white. Despite the spiraling force, the strands struggled to blend together, resembling a vast web.
However, as the web was slowly flung apart by the spiraling power, it signified that the energy was beginning to disperse.
"Kill!" Zheng Yifan shouted as he charged forward. He understood that the spiraling force would break through the obstacles ahead. His spear lunged forward.
Physical attacks were always the most powerful; no matter how strong a wind blade was, it could never match a solid thrust. Just like now, Zheng Yifan's spear pierced through the shredded center of the Spider Web. He struck at the silk sac from which the spider was about to shoot its web.
Then, a force akin to destruction instantly tore apart the Spider Zombie.
Boom! Complete annihilation. The surrounding energy began to compress intensely, eliminating all the Zombies within.
Soon after, the Spider Zombie started to disintegrate.
At that moment, the web that had been shot forth finally began to unleash its true power. A swarm of spiders rapidly emerged from the destroyed silk sac.
Zheng Yifan's attack was particularly effective against large targets, but against such minute enemies, it often fell short.
After all, a spear was a more targeted killing tool.
Meanwhile, Li Ning had already stepped forward, eager for action. His killing move would be even more effective against that Spider Zombie; however, he couldn't overshadow his leader.
Now was his time to showcase his true strength.
His hands trembled as if he were afflicted with Parkinson's disease. The Bronze Sword in his grasp emitted a greenish glow, pulsating with intense Vital Energy Fluctuation contained within but not yet released.
Just as the spiders were frantically preparing to scatter, Li Ning made his move.
With a sweeping motion of his longsword, he executed what seemed to be a technique from Tai Chi Sword, drawing two circles in front of him.
In an instant, a powerful force began to manifest. It wasn't his domain; while that technique was indeed formidable, it was still quite challenging to use in this environment.
Moreover, they needed this building intact.
Otherwise, Zheng Yifan also had a powerful move that could directly destroy the structure.
However, the target among them might very well escape.
Li Ning's technique resembled the arrangement of countless gravitational fields in space, applying an opposing force to the target within.
A strong pressure was confined within a certain space.
Then, it became apparent that he rapidly slashed with the Ganjiang Divine Sword.
Those were attacks resembling blades of wind formed by the condensation of two different forces. (To be continued...)
